Depends on your aesthetic. Korean style for me tends to come across more polished, elegant, and upscale-looking; whereas Japanese style is either earthy and relaxed or very pop art. Overall I prefer Korean style but there's a lot to be said for a good mori kei fit desu
Though both seem to love layering. I also think the general Korean population is really homogenous fashion-wise
