I more or less gave up trying to sort them. I've only got 2 folders for downloaded vids now - one folder for the vids I consider good enough to keep, and the other folder for the rest which periodically gets purged when it gets too full.
The keeper folder is approaching 200 vids, but I still seem to be able to find stuff in it relatively easily, either by remembering the names or by using windows built in search.

Here's my idea for a database.

Instead of having the link on the same table, it has an ID to a link. This accounts for multiple items being in the same download link. Separate tables for original links and mirrored links.
The data can further be sorted by creating more tables in a similar way that IDs work for links. For example, the credits column can instead link to an ID, which stores author info in another table. Another column can be added to further categorize entries for the web interface.
I was just messing around with ms access in my free time. It can create forms and search queries, but I don't know how to host it or anything.

I'd recommend mongodb; it's document-based rather than relational and has a flexible schema, which may make more sense for something like this and would remove the need for a separate table for links. How should storage be handled? I like the idea of decentralizing the storage of the resources, since there are probably terabytes of data out there on various sites. Hosting it all on the web server is going to be pricey and would cause bandwidth issues to those who are just trying to browse the database.
I'd prefer to set up a seedbox somewhere else that hosts the actual content, the database can just host magnet links, and tsstore links as well. At least with magnet links, we can strip any password protection on the zip files.
Problem with torrents is that it's possible for unpopular resources to be abandoned and fall into a 0 seeder situation. So magnet links would be great for popular items, but I'd also want some kind of permanent, decentralized storage option as well. I know the SAFE network is working on this, but I don't know if anyone has actually nailed it yet.
Way I'm seeing it is you pull up a page on a particular resource that someone wrote up, there's a bunch of info on it, and links to download the resource. This would do well for people who are rehosting content that were abandoned by their creators.
The only thing I'd also like would be to implement some kind of Github-style 'forking' of models so anyone could grab them, tweak them, and then publish their content back as a new version fork of the model.

Got my Vive. VR is pretty much exactly like I expected. I wasn't prepared though, and had to fap to a sub-par experience since I couldn't get my models to load into mocumocu for some reason. I'm not trying to justify my purchase. I have money and don't have to work. I have no need to justify anything. All I see is an amazing piece of gear that people are going to be clamoring about for in the near future, because it's amazing and I feel awesome that I get to own it before most people. I'm not worried about the price either, since 800 is nothing for what the Vive offers. I'm more worried about the component shortages for now. They won't have any problems selling them. That's not the issue. People will shell out the money when more content and fanfare comes out.
Also, one more thing. I'm not buying into a gimmick that might flop. I have a Vive on the desk right next to me and I've used it for 3 days now. I know it's not going to flop. think of it as a game where you can make your own poses, with the main feature of making animations, if you find pleasure in doing something like stop motion animation or posing stuff as if you have or had toys ( that is, if you want to make your own animations, you can also download the animation that other people made), maybe you can get the hang of it, but overall it can be quite frustating, since models tend to be different: loading a motion could work well on one model but in other you will see the legs bending in a way that it's not meant to be. there's also the camera that you can move on your own too.

there's a decent quantity of full body models already if you search through iwara's forums and image galleries with dl links from the same site, checking bowlroll.net can be good but it's pretty much a gamble over there, and the fact that is full jap makes it harder to search too (having google translate at hand can be good). and then we have the passwords and the rules the creators of the model tend to put, so you better be prepared if you want to upload content.

Are the models 'lossy' when they're an MMD file? I mean, it sounds like users create models in programs that aren't MMD, then convert them to an MMD model. I've found scripts to import MMD models to Blender, but does that process, (source program > MMD > Blender) result in issues since you're not working with the 'source' model anymore?

As far as I can tell, no. All polygon data is retained when going from mmd to whatever 3d program you're using.
It's a guess, since I'm only 99% sure, but I'm fairly confident it doesn't lose polys.
It would be way too big of a mess if it fucked with the mesh in any way.
Most 3d formats/scripts don't lose poly data when you use them, unless something is horribly fucked up, and at that point loss of polygons is the least of your worries.
We're fortunate enough that MMD doesn't have it's own texture format, so textures will be unaffected by conversions. Sometimes UVs are a little off, but can be fixed manually in 10-20 minutes. Not a big issue.
The only thing that usually loses data during conversions is animation, which if you're just working with models, textures, and bones, doesn't matter.
I don't know how well bone weights transfer over, but it seems fairly consistent. Haven't noticed anything get too fucked up that wasn't already fucked up in MMD.
Physics are usually fucked during conversions. I don't bother with them anyway since it's not that hard to recreate in whatever program you're using.
Overall, the MMD script for blender works fine. It does what it's supposed to.
If it didn't, trying to fix the models it spits out would be too much effort for what it was worth.
There are a few issues with it, but nothing that can't be fixed in a few minutes if you know what you're doing. Nothing major.
I have not tested putting models into MMD, but I'm confident no data is lost.
It would be a huge pain in the ass if modelers had to deal with the program randomly losing polys.
It would fuck with the weighting, UV mapping, sliders, fucking everything would be a mess. No one would bother with the program.

The mesh clipping in this preview image has mostly been fixed. I just didn't want to re-render another poster.
MMD models also have a bad tendency to leave UV seams whenever they're imported to blender, and it's a little difficult to fix unless you catch it before doing all the weight swapping bullshit.
I don't know a way to fix it, but maybe in the future I'll be able to figure one out.
For now just don't use bad lighting like I did and it should look fine.

To fix the seams in blender when imported you have to select all the verts and W -> Remove doubles.
If that messes up the model you might have to split it by material first if it's near some other part of the model like clothes+body.

please, it's easy as shit, from the head you just need to erase the body mesh and their physics left, then in the body you do the same but with the the head, then left in both body and head one similar named bone so when you import it, the weighting is transfered. there's the chance the both neck and face are in the same material but then you just need to be careful in erasing them.
now polish the thing so when the model looks up doesn't look like shit could be a bit more complicated: see if the neck and the head can fit, which you will need to either move the head or the neck's vertex, then see if the color of the face and body match, the same with the sphere, toons, the color material and the edgelines.
