Does anyone know what this plug is for? It's connected to a Mercedes e320 2003. I'm really scratching my head on this one!

I couldn't find a thread for "questions that don't deserve their own thread", this probably belongs there.

It's coming out from under the seat. I'll try /o/, thanks a lot!

My guesses: Electric seat connector. Or there was an audio amp under the seat.

Probably the electric seat control, most Merc's have their amps and stuff in the boot.

He's right, As a car mechanic I've seen lots of them.

This just isnt true, they are even more incompetent than /diy/ is

Seems more likely to be something for a phone than the seat. The wires and connectors don't look robust enough for a powered seat. Additionally, the design of the plug suggests it is something that the car's owner is expected to use instead of something just connected at the factory.

ye-olde car kit for a ye-olde phone?

as someone that used to live in japan that connector is the equivalent of the micro usb but for japan, they were used around until 2009 i believe, now everyone uses micro usb, you can see the same type of connectors in the old docomo phones and also in that weird swan console add on

tl;dr that's for connecting your cellphone to the car
