I am more of a fan of a modern man/woman/girl "going native" for whatever reason.
There used to be a series of pictures online with an interesting spin on that about a girl going to a tropical island to study about the customs of the natives but even though they still ocassionally did certain things for festivities they had mostly modernized (within their standards).
However, the girl is unaware of this and the locals basically decide to prank her by having her be the only one who follows those ideals on a daily basis (maybe even to exxagerated degrees).
She wears leaf clothing (basically only a leaf skirt + body paint with the skirt later being removed) and is asked to od her daily life like that and only use bartering in towns (no money) and hunter-gathering as her possessions are kept in escrow.
She goes along with it as she believes it gives her a bigger insight into how those people originally lived but later on she does seem to admit to herself that there is an exhibitionist thrill to it all.
She is sometimes accompanied by local girls who do wear the painting and sometimes the leaf skirt (+ sandals as opposed to her barefoot) but wear a shirt and have cellphones and purses.
The details might be a bit off but I find those kinds of stories often more interesting than a "civilized" person teaching the wonders of the modern world to a tribal one.

The Good: I found the artist after going through the boorus looking for the "tribal" tag: Awatake Takahiro.
The Bad: The translations to that particular story (which were on a separate English-speaking blog) have since long disappeared and the wayback machine is no help in that regard.
You can still more or less read through the story using machine translation (it's on the artist's site) though obviously that is not exactly ideal.
I learned some moon since visitting the site back in the day so I might be bothered enough to do a pastebin (as the artist seems to be a bit allergic westerners from a google search though admittedly his stuff on DLSite is all over sadpanda and similar sites).
No promises though, so you might do well to look for his site (as the story is from before he started to sell stuff for money).

Ok, so I checked out his site.
Aside from two risqué pictures/stories (which he doesn't allow westerners to access) everything else is still available in moon.
He does very clearly specify he doesn't want the pictures reposted so I urge people to respect his wishes in that regard.
I will however, translate the stories. If he wishes to use that translation on his site on a separate English version he is free to do so.
