I've made a huge mistake.
I'm very bad at video games, especially rpgs, which is why i've procrastinated playing Shrink 'High for so long. Anyway, i started playing, and I got way too far into the game without grinding because I absolutely hate grinding and see it as an excuse for having a shitty difficulty curve. I am now totally stat deficient for the boss fights.
Can I mod this game somehow? Just make it easier or boost my stats to make up for lost time? I'm right up to the part with the regrow machine, and can't fight the damn hand.
I don't want to restart either. So far it's about 12 hours of my time invested, and i'm just going to trash the game if I have to do it all over again and more.

Download cheat engine. This will let you skip most of the bullshit RPG parts and get straight to the good stuff. The way it works is the game stores your stats in what are called memory addresses (similar to a house address). You just have to figure out what address the stat you want to change is in, and then proceed to change it. Cheat engine helps you with that. For Rpg Maker in particular, the program stores the number values as such (X*2)+1, where X is the number you're looking for. So this is what you'd enter into the "value" field when searching.
Doing money is the easiest first example. Load up your game and then load the process into cheat engine. If you don't know the name of the process, just match the icon in your RPG Maker window to the one in the process list. Type in your money into the value box with the *2+1. So for example, if you have 1000, you put in 1000*2+1. This will list all memory addresses that currently contain 1000 in the left hand list. Then go to a shop and buy something. This will change your money to another value. Now type that value in and hit "Next Scan". This scan will only perform the search on what is currently in the left hand list. At this point you will most likely be left with just 1 address in the left hand list, but if you aren't, just repeat the process until you are left with 1. This is your money's memory address. Double click it to put it in the list at the bottom, and from there you can double click the number itself in the bottom list to change it to whatever you want, or you can click the checkbox to the left of it to "freeze" the value, which will prevent the program from being able to update the address. Standard procedure is to give yourself 6 gorillion dollars to be able to afford any price and then freeze it so you have infinite money.

For Shrink High, I'd recommend just leveling yourself to 99 and then turning off random battles. To get to 99, open up your characters stat sheet and note the "Experience gained" value. Find this value's address and then change it to something high like 6 million, and then get into another battle. After you win, you will level up to 99.
To turn off random battles is a little more difficult but not too bad. The way it works is when you enter an area, the program loads up a random number into a memory address and it decreases each time you take a step. When it reaches 0, a battle starts. Since you don't know the initial value, change the "Scan Type" box to "Unknown initial value" and hit scan. This will put all memory addresses in the list to the left. Now take 1 step. Now change scan type to "Decreased Value" and hit Next Scan. Repeat the process until you are left with just a few. This will take 5-10 tries to weed out the list. You will most likely not get just a single address because the game also stores the value in other "temporary addresses". A trick to expose these temporaries is to open and close the menu. You'll see the temporaries flash red as they are changed to a different value for a moment before returning to the "random battle" value. The one that doesn't flash red is the "true" memory address and the one you want to use. Add that to the list at the bottom and then freeze it so it can't decrease anymore. No more random battles (although you will probably want to uncheck it when entering new places just to experience the new fights you get a few times).
In addition to the above, another trick to weed out temporaries is to change the scan type to "Unchanged" and then perform actions that you know won't change the value you're looking for and spam the scan button quickly as the temporaries are changed. So in the above example, open the menu then quickly hit Next Scan.

Lastly, while the addresses you find will be good to use for the entirety of a single session, if you happen to load up another save, the addresses chosen for the random battle location, etc will be different and you will have to search and find them again. If you had them frozen at the time and then load up a save, there's a chance your game may crash because the program will try to use the frozen address for something else it needs and won't be able to. So remember to unfreeze before loading a save.There is a way around this if you care to find it but its way beyond the scope of a 4chan post.
