I usually like a lot of plainer stuff but I can go crazy with colors. Most of the weirder stuff I have comes from accessories like belts or a scarf or something.
Shirts: I wear a lot of plain colored tees, "more tasteful" band t-shirts, flannel, collared shirts, and various button ups. I don't have a lot of patterned stuff because that shit's gonna go out of fashion more quickly than anything else.
Pants: When it's warmer cargo shorts almost always, when it's colder jeans almost always. This is what I most need to fix and get some more diverse types of pants.
Shoes: Converse mostly, but running shoes if I'm gonna be doing something more active. Then, once in a blue moon, boots. I want to get some nicer shoes though.
Jackets: I love a black down jacket I have, I've got two nice hoodies, and I want to finish my bulking up before I get a leather jacket. If I do that I want that thing to FIT.

The only advice I could give is what has helped me so far. It's still tough to find things that fit, but going into any of the certain departments of clothing stores you may frequent when they aren't too busy and literally asking the person there for some help goes a long way. Honestly I felt a little embarrassed to do that at first, but just embrace the fact you can't find what you're looking for. If someone isn't helpful, just look for somewhere else and you could even try going back on a different day when someone else is there.
