Cheating at No Haven: How-To, Rags Designer Method.

Okay so for those of you willing to drop a few bucks on a license key for Rags Designer, this series of posts will explain the parts of No Haven I have learned to edit at this time, and how to edit them yourself.

Chapter 1: Gold, Supplies, and free Slavers
Okay, this first one is pretty easy. Right click on the game file, and there should be an option in there that says Edit Rags File. Use that to open it in the Designer or just do it the old fashioned way.

Press Cancel on any windows that pop up, then look along the bottom for some tabs. Select "Variables". Now find "Gold" in the list of variables that comes up (See image). You should see a spreadsheet.

The first two cells (have 100 and 50 in them in the image) are Starting Gold and Supplies, respectively. The next two cells with data in them (10 and 5) are the number of slavers and slaves your encampment can support.

The second row of cells (highlighted in image) is your various camp XPs. Every time one of these cells has at least 1000 in it, you get a selection of five random slavers for each cell, which you can pick one of. So filling all ten cells on Row 2 with "2000" will give you ten free slavers the first day, and ten more the next day, and you get to pick which ones you get.

License costs ten bucks and I already had a registered copy of Rags Designer on my computer so I figured I'd help cut back on the No Haven whining.

>>6900590
I have not been able to get Cheat Engine to function with No Haven.

Chapter 2: Oh Jesus Christ This Is Awful: Editing Starting Traits

And now here's the shittiness. Go down to the tabs again and click Player. Slightly above the usual tabs are three more tabs. Click Actions. This should take you to the screen you see in the image. See that stuff at the top there? That's the game's code. No, you cannot resize that window. No you cannot copy and paste it all to a text editor. There is no search feature. Welcome to hell.

NOW THEN. Scroll down. Keep scrolling. I recommend using the minimize button next to each Command on Success section to really cut down on the crap. Don't minimize Command on Failure sections.

After you get past the section that lists all the races, you'll see a section titled "Random?". Minimize the on success part, then scroll down just a bit, to "Fully?". Find Variable: Set: Variable(4)(2), Equals, 16. Click it and look down in the menu to see a textbox labeled Variable Data. Change that to about 2000 to have enough and then some for all traits.

Scroll down a tiny bit more and look for "None left?". Click that. Change Variable data to whatever you want your max trait limit to be.

Scroll down a bit more and find -Repick Traits-. Variable(4)(2) needs to be changed to match it above.

Yeah, the reason so many people would rather use CE is because nobody want's to put out the money to RENT a game designer just to cheat at one game, I figured this stuff out too, but I'm not about drop 14 bux for a one year license I'll use for maybe a few hours over that year, is someone had a keygen or crack for the damn designer this might be more helpful.

But thanks for trying anyway, for those that have it I'm sure this helped.

The problem I have with this, that any High risk mission can result in the loss of a slaver, is that there's no interesting decision making or counterplay to be made there. I can send my best slavers on a mission to increase my odds but if I can still lose one on a success then there's really nothing to do. It's either completely out of my control or I can't see the factors that accept that chance and try to work around them.

Plus it's just such a huge blow. Early on you lose a major part of your limited workforce and later on you lose a slaver that you've put a lot more time and effort into and are invested in. And for what? I've never had a success that is even close to the value of a mediocre slaver, let alone the skilled ones I actually send out on high-value missions.

I'm okay with losing a slaver if it feels like I did something wrong, even if that doesn't make a lot of sense statistically. I'd rather gain nothing and be told the mission was a failure and I lost a slaver than be told it was a success and got some paltry reward in exchange. That's not a success.

I know this is kinda just petulant whining about RNG in an RNG game but it bothers me how this is a fixable problem. If I wanted to get fucked in the ass through no fault of my own, I'd play Whorelock's Revenge. No Haven seems like it's more about strategy and risk management which makes the ass-fucking more emotionally painful and the game overall less enjoyable.
>>
So if you take 10/12 negative trait points it correctly gives you a bonus of 10, but if you take another one at that point which shoots you over the limit, it displays as 12/12 negative but doesn't give you the final 2 bonus points.

Is this intentional? It's certainly confusing.
>>
>>6900833
Just tried that again and it's working as you'd expect so that's probably a bug with the specific trait. Don't suppose you remember what it was?
>>
>>6900747
It's frustrating but slavers are infinite so it's not that bad. Sometimes I sell some of mine to make space for more interesting ones. It's a cruel world.
>>
So while playing around in Rags Designer I realized Bedlam left some of his testing options in the code, just deactivated. I've reactivated some of them and renamed them to make it more clear what they do. I've also placed an option to give you a group of five slavers and letting you pick one, as well as removed the limit on positive traits.

All credit for gameplay and hell, the cheats too, go to Bedlam. All I did was turn them on.

Thank you. I really do appreciate that. Seriously I was not expecting that and it's helped on what had been a shit day motivation ways before this happened. Once more a real heart felt thank you.

Look I've barely got this thing out of alpha and like I've said repeatedly more ways to manage the RNG are coming and if you don't want the play the game until it's more content complete then I really, really don't blame you and it's entirely understandable if you choose to do so.

Even fuck high elves guy highlighted to me an assignment where I really had cocked up the balance and helped me out massively by doing so.

Honestly at the moment you're genuinely doing me a favour by playing the game in the state it is now, testing and suggesting ways to make it better and even if I may get in a mood I do still do try to appreciate that.

Different anon.

Bedlam, why do you get so pissed off at this?

Rant incoming: Issues I am going to mention are all glossed over because the game is in alpha/beta and we normally don't want to piss you off; if what I tell you is not your priority then just let them cheat (I don't know, add it officially to the game yourself as an option but inform players that bug reports resulting from this will be considered useless):

The reason people even want to cheat is because the game is completely based around RNG. RNG you cannot control at all except for traits (and savescumming) but otherwise there is no element of skill involved in the game to mitigate the brutal RNG.

Yes, you can level up and acquire traits but at the current rate you have in the game it takes literal hours for single or even multiple slavers (provided you don't roll a fail and lose them).

Hell, ITEMS and EQUIPMENT which in other games would be used exactly for this purpose (affecting RNG and negative outcomes) are also completely dependant on RNG; you need characters with different crafting abilities which you acquire randomly and which generate items randomly (as opposed to create items you ask them for).

You might not have thought it to be an issue and maybe it wasn't when your game barely had content in it but right now you have a game which can actually be beaten, has hours worth of content in it (not to mention mechanically a ton of potential outcomes and configuration) but it is still 99% dependant on dice rolls without us players being able to do anything but savescum for better rolls.

You want people to stop complaining?
- Add missions to acquire items (right now you can acquire supplies and sell supplies for gold; why not spend gold on items, equipment/etc)
- Add missions to BUY slaves with certain abilities (crafting for example)

Sorry for the tough love but seriously, stop pissing on your player base. The game is currently unfairly difficult and you know it.

>>6901017
As an addendum:
No, the items and equipment you buy don't have to be always high-quality/high-grade and same for buying slaves.
You can keep your 4 brackets of success/failure and get random outcomes but being able to semi-consistently acquire items and equipment that mitigates RNG would go a long way to balance out the game right now.

Same with acquiring slaves with certain traits. You can still balance them out with price and/or negative traits they get but it makes no in-universe sense for there to be no way for the player to acquire all of these things.

You can still have "buy a random slave" as a separate option (cheaper than targeted buying).

While we are at it, trying to hire slavers with specific traits also could be just more expensive than the current option to hire one at random.

This might not be the best place to ask, but I'm looking for a Jap. game I played years ago:
I think you were some kind of dungeon manager or something, and the objective was to defend the dungeon with your units. Not sure if you were in control of female units and there were monster invaders or the other way around.
Dungeon had a top-down view, 2D, and I think you could place your units on the field. Almost a tower-defense kind of feel.

Any pointers appreciated.

Just to add onto all of this, as one game designer to another: it's a grave mistake to force players to play the way *you* want them to play, against their will. *Never* ever take away options from players to bottleneck them into certain ways of playing. They will resent you for it, and you will probably resent them for not playing the way *you* play. It's good for no one. It's actually part of the reason why games always brag about "open world" and "sandbox" and never "linearity" or "reduced choices".

Of course, you don't want the opposite extreme, where everyone has unlimited resources and access. So the trick here is to use the carrot-and-stick approach: always let them have alternatives, but maybe make the costs of those alternatives somewhat higher, so most players will still be guided down the playstyle you desire -- but those who really don't like it can still have the option as an alternative.

But speaking to this case specifically: let them have their cheating. Who cares? Players are enjoying the game -- particularly those who might not enjoy the default game mechanics, and might otherwise not play the game entirely due to the grind.

Players are enjoying the game. That's all that should really matter to a game developer. Preventing certain players from enjoying your game because they don't play it *your* way is irrational, egotistical, and ultimately self-destructive by culling your player base.

It's something that many content creators suffer from: a desire to protect their precious child. You occasionally hear stories about directors fighting with the studio over edits made due to movie ratings or mass-appeal, authors fighting with publishers over content in the story, artists being infuriated with people using art without permission, etc. It's something many types of content creators suffer from, so don't hold it against Bedlam as a person flaw.

It's just a gut instinct, like irrational jealousy or anger, that you need to learn how to manage and properly suppress otherwise it'll get you into trouble in the long run.

My point is those things are long overdue and things we were expecting in this update.

Sure, we are just happy you continue to develop on the game and you have your own life, but don't be surprised when people go "Hurray!" when someone else offers them a way to "fix it" while you work on a way to implement it into the main game.

>but when someone alters my game and re-uploads it against my wishes for something I've very specifically always said I will not be providing then please forgive me if I am not all sweetness and light.
Don't get me wrong, it's a dick move. My point is that YOU should have left those options available for players after how many times they have complained that in its current state the game doesn't have a way to circumvent those issues.
I haven't even tried that modified version but the fact it was an option you had only hidden away means you were willingly causing players a lot of frustration that could easily be solved.

Aika left a lot of cheat options available in Trap Quest in order to cope with early versions of the game being utterly unbalanced. FC did the same.
Why the hell is it such a big deal for players to be able to experience the content you created. Isn't that the whole point of the game?

>Pissing on my fanbase?

I don't feel entitled to it, but it is true that having the blindfold pulled that enabling dealing with shitty rolls and hidden mechanics was just one hidden option away did really infuriate me and I am not really in the mood to refrain myself from taking the gloves off and just be blunt about the issues with the game after dancing around the issue the last thread.

Which is doubly frustrating because I actually fucking enjoy Bedlam's games but he can genuinely be a prick about taking criticism.

Yes, someone not asking if you are cool with changing your game's code and rereleasing it in a different way is a dick move.
Yet that should not detract from the point you yourself have hidden that option away for months for no good reason whatsoever given the game is still in alpha to begin with (by your own admission) and hence is bound to result with situations we'll have to cope with until your next release months down the road.

Give us the tools in-game to deal with it, we will also stop badgering for new updates so you can work on them peacefully for a change.

You kind of undermine that statement by also prohibiting others from helping them do it. Clearly you do care if you even prohibit it's discussion, and do want it effectively banned, as indicated by your actions rather than your words.

And that didn't strike you as a red light? If you need hours and days to beat your own game with your cheat tools than chances are your game is horribly unbalanced amd that should be your focus.

>If you want to cheat, sure knock yourself out. I'm just not going to help you to do it.
Well, fair enough, expect the game to be modded more often.

>And today someone pulled a dick move and I was not a fan of that.
Modding a game is NOT a dick move. Professionally developed games get modded all the time.

Hell, Skyrim has a whole porn modding community aswell as a game balancing and bug-fixing community and you don't see Bethesda squashing their efforts.

Hell, they allow you to cheat with the in-game console.

>I don't think it's inconsistent with that to ask such discussion to be kept out of my threads I've made on Hypnopics/TFgames out of politeness, and you'll note I've never made that request here anytime cheat engine and the like as been brought up.
What has any of that have to do with the discussion at hand, the people who actively post on that site while also posting on 4chan are probably a minority in this thread and aren't going to start brigading over something as petty.

>And today someone pulled a dick move and I was not a fan of that.
No, today someone gave the community what we had asked you for months.

You, on the other hand, reacted like an angsty teenager "ORIGINAL GAME - DO NOT STEAL". "IT'S MY BALL AND I'M GOING HOME".

Fine, it's your game. Feel free to make it unplayably hard. People will stop playing it and go back to playing TQ and FC, at least they don't create a shitstorm when we criticize something in their games and both provide cheat tools to provide with issues with their games.

At least if you retreat back to your tumblr and the two gated forums you won't create a shitstorm

Modding isn't, but uploading a cheat version for everyone can be seen as a dick move in this case. These devs often reserve this kind of incentive for their Patreon, even if they don't, it might be an option they want to reserve for later.
Not saying that this is the case for Bedlam, but it's not unreasonable that people who invest huge amounts of their free time into a project for free would like you to respect their wishes.
>>
>>6901152
The "could potentially make money off it" argument doesn't really fly when it comes to sharing mods.

A game dev might offer portrait DLC in the future, so should all portrait mods be banned in the future?

A game dev might offer soundtrack DLC in the future, so should all music mods be banned?

A game dev might offer unique character textures as DLC, so should all character textures be banned?

A game dev might have unique quests or weapons in the future, so should all weapon or quest mods be banned?

etc.

Given Bedlam says himself he has NO intention of doing so, no, it fucking isn't.

Did you just use the P-word? And say that Bedlam should literally keep the game unbalanced so he can sell cheats to patreons?

If anything that would effectively nuke any remaining player base he has on 4chan and then he really shouldn't be surprised when people point out how scummy that is on other sites.
>>
>>6901158
I've repeatedly suggested the adjusting the supplies assignments, so I'm certainly not saying keep it artificially hard.

>>6901157

Nah. In the end in really just boils down to respecting the dev's wishes. It would've also been an alternative to just cheat for yourself.

I also don't see the problem with the P-word? I haven't followed any discussions about the topic here, but I don't see what's bad about the concept.

I've said this before but one really doesn't need to cheat to win the game, just pick the right assignments at the start and snowball from there.

>>
>>6901081
>I literally do not seem to be able to win here and can only admire the FCdev for his infinite wisdom.
Just wanted to add my own cents to the current topic, not sure if you'll read it.

FC dev started out with difficulty on the LOW side. Since the early days, he keeps fine tuning things upwards in difficulty, with the occasional step back when feedback indicates some change was too heavy handed.

A problem I saw repeated over and over is that your game took the other approach - you started with difficulty on the high side and slowly make your way down.

This, I believe, is a large part of the problem. After all, players don't need to cheat in an easy game.
>>
>>6901178
>I promise categorically that I will never outright sell my games, release 'cheat' versions for paying players only, or include content that I personally do not enjoy.'

That has been on my patreon since I set it up after several people asked to have me to have one so they could contribute. I stand by it.

>>6901187
That sounds entirely reasonable.
>>
>>6901185
>save scumming totally isn't cheating, guys
>>
>>6901192
And you don't see FC's dev bitching about the forbidden mod, so I guess the dude who made the cheat version should just post it on infini chan.
>>

>
>This, I believe, is a large part of the problem. After all, players don't need to cheat in an easy game.

I think that coincides with what >>6901050 wrote about player choice: You can manually choose how easy or hard an easy game is by playing with restrictions (no buying slaves, no owning more than X slaves, etc).

You can't do the reverse for a hard game without cheating, which means the game appeals only to the audience that likes harder games, and locks out those that like easy ones. This is as opposed to appealing to both by having an easy mode/hard more choice like FC.
>>
>>6901201
I remember that being a huge shitstorm though.
>>
>>6901124
Then what are you doing here?

Honestly, at this point neither your game nor you is worth having around here if you are just going to refuse both advise and criticism and just focus on doing whatever you want with your game

What do you want from these threads then exactly? Just unconditional praise when it is obvious the game is completely unbalanced and you basically ignored that issue and said "I'll deal with it eventually" and when people ask you to at least allow cheats then you tell them to fuck off?

I repeat: What are you doing on these threads?

Someone else will post when your game updates (provided we just don't give a damn anymore after this thread) and you can retreat to the safe haven that is your tumblr to only get praised and not get legitimate issues pointed out to you outside of the occassional bug (until you snap and start calling them features).

The game in its current state is not worth these diva tantrums.

>>6901172
>C'mon cut me some slack here.
GIven that you refuse to listen to the playerbase and cause shitstorms, why should we?
This might be /d/ and we are ironically less of a dick than other boards but this is still 4chan, we don't beat around the bush when it comes to calling out bullshit.
It's the last place on the internet you can expect people to cut you some slack.

Given you said you have other priorities than to balance the game short-term nor provide tools to deal with it officially and intend to squash other avenues (probably with passwords on future releases) we have nothing to discuss here.

>>6901192
>That sounds entirely reasonable.
So how do you intend to address it, if ever? In an update 2 years down the line?
>>
>>6901201
How's that even related, I thought the only reason forbidden mod isn't officially in is because of legality and covering his ass, which is a wise choice.
>>
>>6901201
>>6901207
>I remember that being a huge shitstorm though.
Because enabling underage slaves in FC is not nearly comparable to unlocking the difficulty of No haven.
>>
>>6901213
I find it hilarious that people would consider the underage stuff worse than lopping off a chicks limbs, removing her vocal cords, and stuffing her in a combination milker/breeding bench for the rest of life. kek.
>>
>>6901206
Yeah that's totally legit.

I'll happily admit I tend towards the trickier and then adjust downwards based on feedback.

>>6901209
I get genuinely some decent feedback here. I really do even from some of the really angry complaints. So got to take the unreasonable with the reasonable. Trick is working out which is which.

Plus some people ask questions and it's a good quick place to get answers out without people having to go elsewhere.

Feel free to continue to misrepresent what I actually say if it makes you feel better.
>>
>>6901215
There's no risk of getting party vanned for coding the latter and you don't have to use it as a player.
>>
>>6901215
Didn't say that. Only that both situation are not comparable to each other given that FC maybe has lgeal concerns for covering his ass (real or not being irrelevant to that point) while Bedlam is just pissed people can now actually beat his game with his own cheating tools.
>>
>>6901219
>I'll happily admit I tend towards the trickier and then adjust downwards based on feedback.

If you have a single difficulty, and you make the entire game easier, you alienate the players that like hard mode. If you make the entire game harder, you alienate the players that like easy mode. You'll still be satisfying a single segment rather than both at once (or only partially satisfying both groups, and not entirely satisfying either).

If you want to maximise game enjoyment among as many people as possible, you'll need to split things into an easy mode and hard mode, rather than leaving only one difficulty and tweaking it.
>>
>>6901227
>If you want to maximise game enjoyment among as many people as possible, you'll need to split things into an easy mode and hard mode, rather than leaving only one difficulty and tweaking it.
Or, you know, just code it hard and leave the cheating tool so he doesn't have to balance two difficulties.

Exactly what is unreasonable about asking you to enable cheat options while until you fix the difficulty then?

Go ahead. You already have derailed the thread, may as well explain your logic about how it is unreasonable given you already have coded it in, players want it and the only reason it is not available is because you don't want to.

If you have any actual logically-driven reason for not enabling it, we are all ears.
>>
>>6901219
As someone who doesn't cheat, but thinks some parts of the game should be balanced: with the "blessed" traits failures seem much less punishing. Maybe you can enable this by default or make it free, until you fine tune other parts of the game.

I failed before I could bring in a single slave, ran out of supplies fast, and that led to my loyalty crashing and the game over.

Personally, I too would like a way to raise the mental abilities of slaves beyond just education. As things stand right now, intelligence is one of the very few FC stats that is less a see-saw and more a one-way slide, with the single step of education (which isn't available to already-educated slaves) being far outweighed by both MB and brain-drain drugs.

Passwords won't help you even if the dumbshit who makes Rags decides to pull his head out of his ass for a split second, because you can intercept CryptDecrypt calls the game makes and trivially dump/edit the source there.

Honestly mate, I took a look at the statistics (caveat: months ago, could easily be out of date by now with new events and changes to existing events/new or changed traits, races, etc), and No Haven looks like it's set up to fail you. The mean slaver matched(roughly) the median slaver, you were more likely to get shit slavers than great ones, and if you assumed all slavers were median, then you had lower chances of getting results that fucked you over than results that helped at all. What that meant was that the vast majority of playthroughs would (without savescumming) be swiftly fucked by either RNG, setup, or player choice, leaving it very difficult to experience much content at all.

Now, that's not actually an issue if the game is roguelike, but a major feature of roguelike games is that the start is *quick*. Like, it takes you less than a minute to go from "fuck I died" to "welcome, new adventurer" or whatever. Most roguelikes do this by making sure that your starting options don't matter massively, so if you just click through going yep yep yep or take a preset, you don't change your chances of success much. In No Haven, you can't really do that, because starting choices determine how you play pretty hugely, which means losing the game and restarting is a PAIN to do if you do it frequently.

tl;dr your starting choices don't match your gameplay style, you need(ed) to either streamline the process of setting up a playthrough or buff the chances of good things happening during by a fair amount. Remember, if you're in testing, no-one will complain it's too easy, but people will bitch like a wolfgirl if it's too hard to actually play.

So I found the Lamia Nest on the coast in No Haven, but I'd beaten the game and was just fucking around to find events I missed. Then my camp rebelled against me 1 turn before it cleared (after throwing 2 Ogre Dominators and a Troll Dominator at it).

Do you actually get a lamia slave or is it one of those "lolgold" events?
>>
>>6901611
You can get a Lamia Slave.
Its one of those quests where you can lost loads of guys on a success though.
I think its possible to crit and get a Lamia slaver.
>>
>>6901620
I'm still super disappointed that a Crit Success on raiding the Elves results in grabbing apparently the Hottest Elf in the land, then trading her with some orcs instantly.
>>
>>6901620
Unlocking the Lamia Cave was funny, got a Crit Success and one of my guys gets gibbed for ~200g.
>>
>>6901629
To be fair, getting fucked by elves for stealing their waifu because you did too well would be some That DM grade bullshit, and it wouldn't be too believable that they keep getting new Hottest Elf In The Lands.
>>
>>6901643
Tru, but ending up with some random human was a downer.

Its weird how ganking travelers at the inn is the #1 source of unusual slaves, otherwise the Paladin event seems to be it.

Pulled a kitsune/lamia/draki/not-asari out of those at different times, which is alot more range than any other area in the game.

Then you crit succeed at the hardest event in an area and get a human.
>>
>>6901620
Crit and get a lamia slaver, but they hypnotize one of the people involved guaranteed.

That'll be fun when hypnotism gets implemented. Crit success to get a slaver because one of yours is fucking crippled. I'll take the normal success, thanks.

What Twine is reading here is a button that, when pressed, runs all the instructions below it, as neither has an if statement on it. You want to add a series of if-else statements, with condition set to something like if $boobsize == 1, then, elseif $boobsize == 2, then, elseif [...]
elseif $boobsize == 5, show button to leave and button to keep drinking, etc.

Also, you will want to swap the pass check to if $boobsize greater than or equal to, not strictly equal to.
>>
>>6901081
>>6901089
>>6901124

Just out of curiosity who's your artist? Because it looks like your game is made up of assets 'borrowed' from the internet. If that's the case you might be wise to ease up on people who want to modify your game. But maybe it's not and you've got a bunch of artists with different styles that you're splitting the patreon bucks with, in which case do what you want.
>>
>>6901671
Thanks, but I'm not quite getting it yet. I tried to do what you said and ended up with this.

(set: $boobsize to 1)

[Drink From The Fountain]<Fountain|

{(click: ?Fountain)[(if: $boobsize = 1)(set: $boobsize to 2)Your boobs get bigger]}

{(click: ?Fountain)[(elseif: $boobsize = 2)(set: $boobsize to 3)Your boobs get a lot bigger]}

{(click: ?Fountain)[(elseif: $boobsize = 3)(set: $boobsize to 4)Your boobs are now absurdly huge]}

{(click: ?Fountain)[(elseif: $boobsize = 4)(set: $boobsize to 5)Your boobs are so huge you need to hold them up with your arms.]}

{(click: ?Fountain)[(elseif: $boobsize = 5)(set: $boobsize to 6)What? The door's open. You didn't need to... Okay well they're even bigger now.]}

{(if: $boobsize >= 5)[[You may pass]]}

They're still showing up in reverse order, and I can't get the [you may pass] to not appear until the if statement is met. Thanks for the help, I have never touched coding before this little adventure and i'm still trying to get the feel for it.

idk shit about twine, but is = equality or assignment

captcha: 666; hail satan
>>
>>6901704
Err, I would assume assignment but until you said that i didn't think = and == had a difference.
>>
>>6901704
That's probably it. I know Sugarcube wants ==

>>6901699
Try replacing the '=' with 'is' and see if that does it. (alternatively, '==')
>>
>>6901711
Not sure if that did anything.

The (if:) command should be assigned to a variable or attached to a hook.â–ºYour boobs get bigger

There's no (if:) or something else before this to do (else-if:) with.â–ºYour boobs get a lot bigger

There's no (if:) or something else before this to do (else-if:) with.â–ºYour boobs are now absurdly huge

There's no (if:) or something else before this to do (else-if:) with.â–ºYour boobs are so huge you need to hold them up with your arms.

There's no (if:) or something else before this to do (else-if:) with.â–ºWhat? The door's open. You didn't need to... Okay well they're even bigger now.

Just copying what i had in the quick test, so those error messages might mean something. They're still popping up starting from six and going down though.

>I also don't see the problem with the P-word? I haven't followed any discussions about the topic here, but I don't see what's bad about the concept.
First, nice dubdubs.

Second, nothing is objectively wrong with Patreon, it's just that people see what amounts to "donate to this guy for more of the kind of content he's already making", do so, and then rightfully get upset when they get little, if anything, for their investment even months later.

Bedlam doesn't do that but it is a thing that happens. For example, (and most egregiously) Breeding Season.
>>
>>6901711
using == makes the error message

Cannot read property 'varref' of undefined

pop up. So i don't think that's right.
>>
>>6901699
try using making it one big if/else if statement rather than five separate ones. I'm no expert on Harlowe but it looks like it will run through, or attempt to call, each in turn (so when you click it checks if boobsize is 1 then 2 and so on), furthermore it looks like, after the first, you're trying to do an else-if without a starting if as each one is in a different statement. Try something like this;

{(click: $fountain)

(if: $boobsize is 1)(set $boobsize to 2)[Your boobs get bigger]
(else-if: $boobsize is2)(set $boobsize to 3)[Your boobs get a lot bigger]
(else-if $boobsize is 3)(set: $boobsize to 4)[Your boobs are now absurdly huge]
(else-if $boobsize is 4)(set: $boobsize to 4)[Your boobs are so huge you need to hold them up with your arms.]
(else-if $boobsize is 5)(set: $boobsize to 6)[What? The door's open. You didn't need to... Okay well they're even bigger now.]

}

Alternatively, if you're having trouble with if statements you're not too far along to not consider starting over with a less shitty language.

Ah, yeah, what >>6901711 said, sorry about that. Harlowe is really weird about what it accepts. Generally speaking for Twine (and some other languages), = is unused, == is equals, and === is strictly equals.
Between == and ===, you don't really need the difference most of the time, but == will take any variables that are the same, like 1 == 1, whereas === also requires them to be the same variable *type*. That is, you can get a boolean (can only be 1 or 0 aka true/false) set to 1, and an integer (any whole number like 1 or 2 or 3 or 1473) set to 1, and a real (any number that doesn't involve the square root of negative one, aka 2, 4.3, 93.000001, pi, etc etc) set to 1, and ==(equals) will tell you "all of these are 1, therefore they are the same" while ===(strictly equals) will tell you "all of these may be one, but they are also a bool, int, and real, therefore they are not the same).

Harlowe, as far as I can tell, does definitely require you to use is instead of any = symbol, as it's designed for people with no coding experience who might have difficulty parsing all the symbols in standard code. Personally, I grew up with RGSS, JASS, and Python, so I find symbols easier to understand than AN characters.

Personally, I would still swap to Sugarcube instead of Harlowe if you're not too far into your project (and even if you're 20+ hours in, I'd consider it seriously), as it's a better language and has better/more tutorials out there for the non-intuitive stuff.

I was meaning in Sugarcube, = is for set, == if if equal to, === for if strictly equal to. I believe this is because it's taken from Javascript, so that != and == have the same number of characters and similar (equals vs not-equals) meaning, while === and !== do likewise.

Contrasting, Harlowe only looks like it accepts (set $var to n) instead of (set $var = n). That, or it just doesn't say that it does in the documentation so as not to scare the newbies?
The more I read about Harlowe, the more I'm glad I went with Sugarcube first.

This is a big part of something I tried to describe but utterly failed at putting into words the other day. It absolutely doesn't help that No Haven is utterly hamstrung by the monstrosity that is RAGs but the interface for making a new character just takes time and effort to go through. Hell, just picking the portrait (and race subtype) you want takes too many clicks. I'm fine with doing that, though, because there is a lot to like about this game. You say there's improvements coming and I eagerly yet patiently await them. But in the mean time I am going to point out things I can see as failures in the current state of being.

MacArthur's "Muh Christian Purity" was the reason that censoring of junk -- even in porn -- was written into the Japanese constitution. I know that's the reason tentacle porn and bukkake exists (because it's illegal to show a penis entering a vagina uncensored). So I imagine that the x-ray thing might also related to that, like most of the freaky Japanese porn stuff.
