I think Korrasami was pandering but not because it was gay but because fans wanted the couple and I'm also not sure pandering is necessarily bad. You can give fans what they want sometimes.
I also think a lot of people who argue about wanting representation have just wanted their specific ship to happen, not really to be progressive though they say that.
I was okay with Korrasami though it wasn't really in the show and other shows have handled gay couples better by developing them more especially lately.
I wouldn't mind Star having a gay couple and wouldn't be surprised but I'd hope it will be done well.

Not so much but everytime I see a gay couple in a cartoon and said gay couple does nothing for the plot or structure of the story whatsoever and reeks of being there just so people can point at it and see "SEE!? ITS PROGRESSIVE!".
For exmaple, in GF the cops are gay... okay? the show its over and what does that even do for the story? In Legend of Korra, Asami x Korra happening at the last second when their "relationship" never affected the show at all, it was just put there so people talked about it.
Those are the kind of examples that annoy me, is not them wanting to tell an actual story of a gay couple, is just them doing it for the sake of doing it, shove it in the background and have people talk about it.
But that's just me, I guess just the fact that it annoys ME to no end would mean its a bad thing overall. It still really annoys me tho!

i just wanna say that the animation in the two new episodes are really great compared to the animation back in season 1.
some of the animation in season 1 was really good, but other episodes had animation that made me cringe (like Lobster Claws)
these two episodes really stepped up the game and I hope they can keep the quality consistent for this new season

Are straight background couples some form of pandering? If gays simply existing in the background is a form of pandering, why isn't the exact same behavior from heterosexuals seen as significant?

Whilst I agree with the sentiment as a whole, given how common and poorly handled it is in a range of media nowadays, I would argue that it was fine in Gravity Falls with Deputy Durland and Sheriff Blubs given that their interactions were well developed and their supposed relationship wasn't forced into the limelight in any way out of the norm.

If a guy and a girl hook up at the last second of a series that never interacted at all in the show but were super popular in the fandom I would call that pandering too.
Is not so much about it being same sex couples, is just that same sex couples is when the pandering is the most obvious.
I also hate when a character gets turned gay midway thru a series despite showing them as straight the entire time, Marco and Tom are both shown as straight, so are Alfonso and Ferguson, so if any of them get turned Gay it would annoy me.
But oddly enough? If Sabrina, Brittney, or Ludo gets turned gay I would not mind since they are of the few characters that so far has never shown interest in any of the particular genders. As long as of course said hookups dont happen at the last darn second of the series.

I just saw the scene again and this makes a lot of sense, it was like "is this real?" and touching Toffee to confirm it or something. Also works as a subtle "thanks for the idea" to Toffee I guess.
It kinda makes more sad the fact that Toffee never wanted to help Ludo and was just manipulating things for his own goals despite how highly Ludo thought of him.
