the first Spider-Man comic I read was JMS's run, and she came across and incredibly miserable and frustrated while sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of Peter's emotional stability.
when I later read older comics they did little to dispel that impression of their relationship. While Silk's solo book isn't anywhere near as terrible as when Slott wrote the character, we both know its not actually "good". Its got some nice penciles, but the story is clunky and in 16ish issues virtually nothing has happened.
