I remember Symcra using other methods, but basically shapes are easy when you start getting them.
Just copy photos using the basic shapes. Pratice a little every day.
Practice with sort of a fabric/clothing focus. Going to have to work on whittling down all the BS lines and getting proper references next time.

The technique is cozy but you have to work on shading more. Have crosshatched lines follow the surface of the object. Everything is kind of flat as it is.

Try to keep the direction of the shadows consistently in the same direction. While they do not look that bad, the light source seems to be coming from the top left. What's throwing me off is the highlights on the front of the hair- based on the direction of the shadows, those highlights seem out of place. Other than that, this is really nice! I love the blush on the shoulders and neck, it works well.
Does anyone have any advice for someone getting used to drawing with a tablet?
Basic beginner stuff, I use sai in case that'll help

thinking about deleting both of my webcomics DEMON JUICE and FATES and redoing both of them in this 90's comic book style with shitloads of crosshatching
with everyday that passes im wanting to do this more and more because both of my webcomics are non consistent freestyle trainwrecks and every page looks different from the last cuz im always trying new shit and evolving and sometimes devolving in quality cuz its a free webcomic so whatever.... :/

download sketchbook pro instead, its a lot better than photoshop, sai, mangastudio, etc
it came free with my bamboo wacom tablet, so i dont know if you have to pay for it or not, but im pretty sure its free, but i could be wrong
but if you do have to pay for it its totally worth it, not only does it have copic markers and very realistic painbrushes, but you can make your own brushes, pencils, pens, smudge brushes, pencils, and stamps
it does everything that photoshop does but better and its not a hardrive hog either cuz when i had photoshop and adobe flash for animation they both took up about 20 gigabytes or something?
sketchbook pro only takes up like a 100 megabytes of space i think so theres that to

It actually started with me doing a cutesy Japanese mascot type style but turned into Shin-Chan during some of the sketches so I rolled with it and used that as the basis for coloring rather than doing the very thick outline I was planning to do, similar to how Hello Kitty is outlined.
