2006-2008 really.

Honestly we didn't know how good we had it.

>cartoons alive and well on Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and CN
>action cartoons thriving
>cartoons in general probably the best they'd ever been if we count the 00's as a continuation of the 90's animation renaissance

It was a great time to be a kid to watch cartoons. Honestly I never thought there'd be a time like now when cartoons are basically dead.

About the only thing better nowadays /co/-wise is the golden age of cape movies.

>20 year old reporting in

Growing up in the 00's was okay. Got a lot of good snes games on GBA ports, and I didn't have to live through the era of smart phones as a kid, thank fucking god.
Got to experience the normie internet boom/online gaming too.
Played a lot of Runescape/WoW growing up (still do).
Cartoons were definitely above average, and I got the tail end of the late 90's era (born in 95). I remember watching some tiny toons reruns.
Got to see shows like ATLA, Xiaolin Showdown, Teen Titans. Shows for kids that had good story arc's.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the decade that I got to live in as a kid.
>>
>>84190765
>no NuDOOM mention
>>
I remember the things were not so elitist on the internet, most loved edgy things, toilet humor things or just simple things without any problems, now everyones behave like a fucking hipster for everything and constantly talk shit about the last decade.
>>
>>84190702
>>84190765

The 2010's will be known for the explosion of alternative media outlets like Netflix and Amazon, showing what people can do out from under the auspices of major networks and studios and how that media can reach people directly. Steam blew up on an even more massive scale with the indie dev boom. Normal people are finally starting to notice Image Comics a little more.

And the diversity of content.

>inb4 REE DIVERSITY

Not that kind. There's something like 400 scripted shows which were/are set to premiere in 2016, VOD means there's a billion movies coming out every year directly, we're getting more and more niche content out of need, there's basically holes the major companies and even general audiences need to be filled and it's giving us stuff that would have never existed ten years ago.

Content and art is diversifying in genre and style, everyone is getting satisfied in one way or another just because of the extreme waterfall of material. Everyone can find something that appeals to their own nerd kinks.

It's fascinating to watch.
>>
>>84190956
As someone who spent the late 90s and early 00s in the Pokemon and Western Cartoon circles that existed at the time, you're full of shit. Hell, Toon Zone's favorite past time was talking shit about the past decade and bitching that modern cartoons weren't as good as they were int he early 90s.

Internet post 2007 a shit.

Social media took over totally.

The internet used to be this sort of new frontier. A second universe if you will It became more commercialized post dot com boom but it still felt like it had a fucking soul.

I dunno maybe its just the oldfag in me.
Ive been here too long.

But I miss the ramshackle good natured depravity of the internet.

Everything is too polished these days.

90s kids are in their late 20s~early 30
Being born in the 90s does not make you a 90s kid, you're only a 90s kid if you were born from 87-90, after that you're a 00s kid

You guys remind me of that actress, Maisie Williams, that was born in 97 and keep saying that she is a 90s kid.

That's why I think everyone saying people who thought cartoons were better in the 90's and 00's are just nostalgiafags are full of shit. The 70's were a shit decade for cartoons, you don't see anyone saying that those Hanna-Barbera cartoons were SO much better than the cartoons of today.

That shit right there is proof that things aren't always going to be a certain way. Maybe people have a right to look back at the previous decade, compare it to what cartoons are like now, and think, "Yeah, animation today is in kind of sad state."

I kinda miss in like 2011 where everyone had internet and shit but it wasn't so big, y'know? Twas a good in between. Like, you could get on the internet on your phone from wherever you were but you usually didn't because it was 3G and a tad slow.

Mobile has ruined chat rooms and shit too. Nowadays, people just get on a chat room on mobile, no matter where they are. Five years ago, there was a thrill of getting offline to go somewhere, coming back to a full chat room, and telling everyone all about it.

I just remember going onto chat rooms that weren't RP's. Like, you'd sign on with a character name and sometimes act like said character, but that was because you liked them so much. Mostly it was talking OOC, fucking around, talking about whatever book, movie, tv show, etc it was from. And if no one was on, you'd just keep the tab open and wait til someone came on. Now people come in, and if no one is on, they just leave.

Why did everything seem to turn shitty around 2008? Obama? The internet finally becoming something that literally everyone uses?

Same here. Nowadays RP is still good, just too serious OOC, y'know? Back in the day, you could talk for a few hours once you joined, before RP'ing. You were as much friends as RP partners. And if you had to go, they didn't replace you, they trusted that you'd be back later. Nowadays RP is just tumblrfags and the rules of their chat rooms are like

Infinite Crisis, All-Star Superman, Loeb's Batman/Superman, Geoff Johns' Up, Up, and Away, Identity Crisis, plus some other shit here and there, were some of my first comics ever on the DC side. It was such a fun, exciting time to get into comic books imo, but that right there is actually probably nostalgia speaking, even though the mid-00's really were probably a great time to be a DC fan. Now I'm starting to imagine what people just now getting into comic books must be feeling.

I feel like I should feel nostalgic for this stuff but I don't since I can still watch shows from that time, play the games, and listen to the music. The technology was garbage and everything we have now is so much better. I was born in '95 so the 00's were a big chunk of my life. I don't know how you people can still yearn for this shit since we have it much better now.

Cartoon Network Summer in 2005 was the best time ever.

The Nintendo Nsider Forums removal was probably the first time I saw something online just go away forever. I didn't post, but I loved to read the topics

Also, sprite comics. Jigglypuff and his Merry Band of Idiots and BombKirby were the shit.

Decent I guess.

Born in 91, so I've got early childhood memories of "le 90s kid xd" stuff like Power Rangers, Playstation, WCW, Pete and Pete, Bobby's World, X-Men and Eeek the Cat and all that good shit. But I really remember the 2000s a lot more vividly, and as a nignog, it was interesting. Great tv shows and cartoons from the 90s were still going, but they slowly started losing their luster (looking at you PPG post movie, Dexter post Egotrip, and Rugrats post Paris movie).

Cartoon Network was great up until about 2007 or 2008 I want to say. Stuff like JLU ending, Toonami getting worse and worse until it was just filler Naruto and One Piece for an hour then ending, CN Real, and emphasis on stuff like Lazlo and Gym Partner (not bad shows, just kinda meh to what came before) weren't so fun.

Nick was cool, Jimmy Neutron, FOP, SNICK was around in the early 2000s, MLAATR, Danny Phantom, etc. But again, post movie shows (Spongebob, Rugrats), were getting worse, and the live action got taken in a weird direction with Dan Cunnyman Schneider and iCarly. The Nicktoons they tried to replace them were either awful (Mighty B) or not given enough time to really grow (El Tigre). The one bright gem was Avatar.

Everybody knows how Disney was, pretty alright up until stuff like High School Musical and Hannah Montana. Holy shit did those two take over everything. Suddenly every show on Disney Channel had a singer they were trying to push and they were all loud annoying famewhores. There were some shows that were kinda gone too soon for my taste, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, Jake Long, Dave the Barbarian, but there was also stuff like the Replacements and Buzz on Maggie, and as the decade ended they were kinda getting decentish with Phineas and Ferb.

So yeah, it was a mixed bag. Like these channels, the decade was about losing the last bits of the 90s as the decade wore on and trying to find itself. There was a lot of crap of course, but every decade has it's shit.

Born in very early '95, so I don't know how much I can comment. It was pretty good. I remember rushing home to catch BTAS in syndication on Cartoon Network and watching Cartoon Fridays from their start to the end of that era. I remember when things started changing on CN and Nickelodeon and I remember when getting Disney Channel was a big deal in my household. I remember thinking Twilight was dumb and knowing why we had to go to war all the way to thinking that we were duped. I remember seeing The Dark Knight and thinking I'd just seen the definitive version of Batman, aside from the version in the cartoons. I remember seeing Iron Man in all of its brilliance and realizing there was a "post credits scene" that I'd missed which hinted at the uniting of "the Avengers," which I had to look up to understand what that meant. I remember thinking that movies couldn't get better than the summer of '08. I remember thinking that the world was a nasty and terrible place with nothing but assholes and awful people. I remember playing Arkham Asylum and thinking that not only had my childhood been revived, but the true Batman and Joker had returned. I remember thinking, as I approached 15, that I had an interesting time on this planet, and I looked forward to the rest.

I was really hoping that shit was just a fad of the decade and that style would've died out with it. Why couldn't emo/hipstershit just go with that decade like greasers did with the 50s, hippies with the 60s, disco in the 70s, punkers with the 80s and grunge with the 90s?

I think 4chan is mostly made up of teenagers and of underaged users who aren't technically old enough to use 4chan, but that this is especially true for /co/.
