I think we've actually learned a lot about her general character throughout the show, her actions kind of permeate the entire setting. Not her specific actions mind you, but her attitudes and ideals have been laid out in mostly subtle ways. Truth be told I think she's one of the more complex characters on the show, up there with Steven and Pearl.
If the leaked episode titles are anything to go by though, Amethyst may be joining them up there shortly. Or at least short in CN terms.

Weekly schedules allow more organized discussion and fanart. The whole fandom is focused on one thing at a time and has a week to pick apart episodes. Bombs throw everything at you at once so each episode gets overshadowed by the next one. Sure you can bring up any episode you want to discuss later, but there's often less interest by then.
It might not matter to some people, but I like the fandom and discussion stuff. Weekly schedules facilitate that.

I...don't know what to say. I don't want to sound like a Debbie downer, but Stevenbombs have almost entirely ruined the show for me at this point. Every bomb the show reveals more of its lore, but the hiatueses are so constant that plot lines are basically a running gag at this point. Townie episodes suffer the worst because they take away from time we could spend exploring that lore. Some of these episodes I'm more fond of now that they're not in bomb format (i.e. Onion Friend), put for as long as these bombs continue until the end of bloody time, these issues will continue to persist, and drag the show down with it.

No, they cancelled it because it was too expensive. So, they exploited a legal loophole and wrote it off as a commercial failure. As part of that write-off, they forfeited any rights to making money off the franchise, which is why there was never an official DVD release.
That "We couldn't find a company to make the toys" was horse-crap that they shoved out because saying "It was so mindbogglingly amazing that it costs too much, so we're going to exploit a law to help small companies not get crushed to make our money back." wasn't exactly a good PR stunt. Alright, there are a lot of people worried about the schedule, so let's lay some things straight.
Firstly, all we have is an image posted on the Canadian site. The US schedule will probably be similar and likely the same, but it's not concrete.
Secondly, CN has not released any official announcement. Once again, this is a single image on their Canadian site, it's not exactly a press briefing. For all we know, there could be multiple weeks of SU following this.
Finally, while I doubt that we're getting a solid run of episodes, it wouldn't surprise me if we got more than just this one bomb. It's been called a "Mega Event" by Mattyes I knowand ET said that the episodes would run from June to August originally. While In Too Deep was more than likely the June episodes, it wouldn't make much sense for them to completely rearrange the entire rest of the schedule just off of that one event.
To put it simply, we really don't have enough information to conclude anything yet. It could just be that one week, or it could be the whole rest of season 3, we don't know. There's no reason to give up hope, so please keep believing!

Smoky Quartz is a pretty dark color, and it looks brown. How do you make brown? You mix a primary color (like red) with its complementary color (green)

I am, honestly. Like, I love SU to death. I sleep with the fleece comforter on my bed and I own a few shirts and figures, and when I look at them, I dunno, it kinda gets to me that I'm not in love with it as I was. It used to be Peridot, but she's been turned into an unfunny joke at this point. But, I feel like in the last few episodes the gems have all been turned into pretty flat characters.
Garnet - Either Stoic or Mystic Know-It-All
Pearl - Stick in the mud 'voice of reason' and general worrywort
Amethyst - Too stupid to realistically function.
Ruby and Sapphire - 'I AM GAY GAY GAY!'
Homeworld/Diamonds - Too stupid to realistically function.

And I mean, granted at the beginning that's all a lot of them were, but that's because we didn't know them and overtime they began to carve themselves out. Garnet was stoic because she was too busy focusing on what could be, and seeing all the options helped her be the leader. Pearl was worried because she didn't want any harm to befall Steven, as he was part Rose and every human she's known is weak. Amethyst isn't as dumb as she lets on, just a bit childish to hide her own insecurities. And so forth. But now they're just so one note again and it's upsetting..

The thing is, absence does not make the heart grow fonder in this case. The longer we have between episodes, the more the flaws in the pacing and the flaws in the show in general are apparent to me. If I get hype, I quickly get disappointed when the episodes come back on and inevitably they're not hype worthy, because SU just doesn't always succeed in that. It stands out more when you make me wait months for it, though.

The theory that her nose gem is broken is right, and she hunts Steven down to heal it. He refuses, until she earns it by being a good earthling, and she is too weak to beat him to a pulp to do it. Eventually, she's redeemed but refuses to have Steven heal her nose, because she likes being weak and it reminds her that there is more to life than pure strength.

Peridot has more episodes centered around her than Amethyst at this point. Hell, she has around the same amount as Garnet or Pearl. And she joined the main cast about 15 episodes ago.

It's simply a consequence of adding members to the original CG. The older characters are getting less screen time and dialogue when they're not in the focus, when in season 1, they had lots and lots of interactions spread out each episode.
Pearl's apparently getting another story arc next season(?), while Amy's is coming up after the townie arc.
Regarding those "title leaks", Jasper being the first corrupted gem Steven learns to help would be a pretty compelling storyline AND a good way to explain why Jasper would start changing her mindset and accepting him.
And then we can finally get back to the corrupted gems plot and Centipeetle. After all this time, it's almost like they just forgot about it.
