I legitimately believed, when I saw the episode they went for the crystal, that it would be left there, abandoned and forgotten, like many other shows have done for things like this.

An episode that helps flesh out the Galra a bit. Like a lone straggler comes after the Paladins for killing his father some time during the first season or the team is tricked into attacking a civilian farming colony by a less scrupulous rebel who wants to cut off supplies to the main Galra fleet.
I would like an explanation as to how Zarkon was able to trash talk Keith in space without psychic powers or a helmet radio.
I would like to know if the Blue Lion warping to the Castle was the facility reaching out to the first reactivated Voltron component or if it's a unique ability and Lance will be doomed to be the team Appa.
I would like a tad more explanation as to how the Robeast operation works.

I want to see more Galra-centric episodes. Stuff that fleshes out their military hierarchy, the druids, the tensions between the military and the druids, maybe even a bit of villain specific episodes.
I'm mostly happy with the way things are right now, I just hope they bring Sendak back. I'll be pretty bummed if they don't, or if they do and immediately make him a robeast to be killed off. The scenes of him giving the Voltron dudes a hard time and tormenting Shiro were the best.

An episode that hints at all sorts of romance happening only to sink them all and reveal the paladins see each other purely as siblings, just to troll the shippers
Something about Allura's mom, and life on Altea in general (maybe it's as wonderful as she claims it was, maybe she was shielded from the truth)
Conversely, a lower deck episode that humanizes the Galran minions and reveals more about the workings of the empire

Lest favorite: Keith and Lance, they're pretty bland and generic so far, and don't seem to have much motivations beyond wanting to impress Shiro-senpai. Hopefully they get more fleshed out in the future seasons. At least Keith has the mysterious past/edgelord "Raphael" rebellious shit going for him for future potential plot points. I have zero idea what they're going to do with Lance's character.

So this is my first time watching a Voltron show, but I'm guessing that the lions are actually a goody-good version of robeasts that were created balmera-like planetary essence, while Galra robeasts were created with corrupted quintessence, am I right?

We don't know. The Robeasts seem to be people turned into monsters, but there's no indication the Voltron is the same way. So far the show makes them out to be space deities. In the original Golion series Voltron was a giant metal warrior punished by the goddess of Space for his arrogance and split into five lions. Since they're taking more inspiration from Golion than the previous adaptations with stuff like the names they might also include that aspect of the backstory.

Guys, I can't explain it too well, but this new Voltron show is giving me some SERIOUS fucking good vibes.
It feels like the first time I watched Avatar way the fuck back. Like I'm getting into something that's going to be legendary in the end.
It's just so fucking good. The story is good, the characters are distinct and well developed, the villains pose a real threat, the amount of pandering is basically none, and the fighting feels like shit is really going down each time.
Even with the cliffhanger, this is making me really, REALLY fucking excited. When are we getting more Voltron?

It's definitely decent compared to most of the shlock that passes for action cartoons today, but nowhere near Avatar, 90's Batman or Samurai Jack levels of great. At least not yet.
But then again, Avatar also had a sort of underwhelming first season with some pacing and exposition issues. I'm getting the same vibes with Voltron as well, but I'm still cautious after Korra (yes, yes I know it's just the same animation studio only, but still.) So yeah, I think it has strong potential to really go somewhere, but time will tell.

Well it would explain why Keith had been the most underdeveloped of the lot. Lance has his jokes and Shiro/Pidge/Hunk each have gotten their respective storyline so it's really strange that he has got nothing despite being the designated leader when Shiro eventually dies.
