Comes out next week. Any interest?

Not really, it's part of the NuLEGO games where the characters actually talk. Not to say it won't be fun like the other LEGO games, but it's just not the same.
>>
>>83960097
This.
It's a title they give to people who fund a project or someone connected to the franchise for legacy purposes. It means nothing.
>>
>>83960179
Nah
I played the demo that was on the Ps4
The third person cover shooter areas are terrible, the shooting is clunky and they throw enemies upon enemies at you

Played about an hour of it.

Bespin screams "should have been Coruscant, and in at launch", but I'd be lying if I didn't say it looks nice.

The gameplay updates and changes are the best the game has had.

Finally, 8 months later, does the game feel like it has enough variety in content to warrant buying. Still has a lot of problems though, but this is the best you can probably ask for, when dealing with Dice and EA.

I try to avoid praising the game much because I hate giving people the impression that I am satisfied with it. I'm really not. For example, when I said;

>8 months later, does the game feel like it has enough variety in content to warrant buying

This has to be reiterated that it required a shitload of free updates, and TWO "expansion packs" to get to this state. And I still despise the Card and Customization system, among a few other things.

But, yes, the Bespin maps are a very VERY welcome and fresh change to the map variety, and it's been fun to play in the short amount of time I have had on it so far, so hopefully you'll enjoy it too.

Nice trips. Yeah maybe. Still, I wouldn't expect any closeups. There must be tons of younglings in there and Annie killed them all. He must have killed what? At least 100-200 jedi or something? Do we know the numbers? I mean they live in the temple, right? I can't remember any of this stuff and I watched TWC quite recently.
>>
>>83962507
Uhhh.... Order 66? Blasterfire igniting flammable parts of the building.

>>83962533
There were likely thousands of Jedi in the temple that Anakin and his clones killed. The Jedi numbered 10,000 during the prequel era. Hundreds were out fighting in the Clone Wars but thousands were still in the temples.
>>
>>83962251
Oh yeah...
Lego DLC is a thing now
>>
>>83962627
I get that it was Order 66, but setting fire to the Temple seems pointless. More mess for Sheev to have to get cleaned up and fixed into the Imperial Palace. Just seems like a pointless addition to the slaughter.
>>
>>83963007
They didn't do it on purpose, it just happened in the chaos.
>>
>>83963007

Dude, blast bolts hit flammable shit, catches fire. Wouldn't be surprised if they used explosives as well. It WAS a temple full of Jedi after all. And how were any of them to know it was going to be changed to the Emperor's personal residence?

There's certainly nothing wrong with that. ET running around with precious jewels is always a little odd. Aliens in modern mythos tend to be interested in turning cows inside out and probing butts, after all. Not so much knocking over Fort Knox with their tripods. They could have been obsessed with our water (Independence Day), our genetic material (X-Files), slaves (Signs). Oh, or sports teams. They taught the Mayans the secrets of b-ball and ripping the hearts out of the chests of the losing team.

>people think he will make a good star wars movie after looper
>>
>>83960097
It varies. Executive producers can and often do have a lot of power, but sometimes they are just kind of slapped on there for legacy reasons but otherwise do nothing.

The important thing here is that Lucas is involved on some level, or it at least has his blessing. They're under no obligation to include him beyond the "created by" credit.
>>
>>83964045
The difference is, Rian actually appreciates all of Star Wars and likes the prequels. JJ just wanted to play it safe and make a remake of the OT.
>>
>>83964071
He and Spielberg are literally best friends, so it makes sense that he'd want to include him, regardless of whatever bad blood may exist between Lucas and the people currently controlling his old franchises. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Spielberg's push to get him involved is specifically because he sympathized with him after the semi-falling out Lucas had with Kennedy and Abrams (and at this point we're not even clear on whether there's still any animosity or if that's all been cleared up, since Lucas said he liked TFA even though it does a lot of the stuff he had previously been against)
>>
>>83964069
Of course! Only instead of time travel Rey gets caught in a predestination paradox due to her Force visions, leaving the First Order ahead and her uncertain if she screwed things up because of destiny, because of the visions, or because the Force wanted her to. All very beyond philosophical, anon. You have no idea.
>>
>>83964183
I think Lucas's opinion of TFA is more of a "it was a fun movie, not what I would've done though." He probably mentally regards it the way he did the EU, where it was always a completely separate thing from what he considered to be Star Wars. He would praise stuff from the EU all the time even while acknowledging that he didn't consider any of it canon and that in his mind, what the characters were doing after ROTJ iin the EU wasn't the REAL story of what they went on to do.

Why not? Clinging onto hate for years is just pointless. More than that Lucas, for all his faults, was a true believer about what he created. He tried, had enough faith to bankroll it and believed that people deserved the best he could provide. TCWs proves that with the right creative team backing him up he's as good as he ever was. There is absolutely no shame in being someone whose best work comes from working with others backing you up.

Funny thing is with the sequels he would most certainly not have just rehashed the OT. Whether he could make something people would accept or not, I cannot say, but he would have tried. There would have been new, visually unique worlds. There would be new vehicles that aren't just a collection of various box shapes. For better or worse there would still be a VISION behind his work. TFA is NOT bad, but it is certainly flawed in the opposite direction Lucas took the Prequels. Some believe that the Prequels lost the feeling of Star Wars, but if getting that feeling back was just aping the OT? Lucas would never have done that. Again, for better or worse.

It reminds me of Simon Pegg's take on the Prequels as trash and anyone who likes them isn't worthy of consideration. As pals with JJ I find it hilarious he'd say that given what those two chucklefucks did to Star Trek. Seriously. Do any of the nu Treks FEEL like Star Trek? RIP Anton Yelchin. Apparently they can only make something feel like the original when they blatantly rip it off.
>>
>>83967296
I actually was still very critical of him until our old TCW threads kindly pointed out to me that I had my head up my ass and he was still very much a part of Star Wars, working directly on the episodes. He laid out the basic plot points he wanted then turned Filoni and the writers lose. He okayed their changes, oversaw production art. We certainly had plenty of weird stuff, like Mortis and that time Threepio and Artoo went on wacky adventures with fairy frogs and murdered some guys before fucking up the droid Wizard of Oz, all while driving Wolffe nuts. But overall they did a damn good job fleshing out the Prequel Era.

Sure his stories of WWII may involve laser swords and he helped liberate France from Imperial Stormtroopers with Private Binks shouting, "WEESA GONNA DIE!" the entire time, but once you get past his funky old man smell and the notion that every time he stops mid-sentence and just stares he's probably not dead, he's actually quite charming.

TCW and basically EVERY post-Prequel tie-in prooved what a great world he'd built. It's just the stories he happened to choose for the movies themselves was terrible, and kneecapped by his desire to pick the worst takes of his actors work.
But that world -- amazing. He needs someone else to handle the details.

I don't know if they were TERRIBLE, as such. I think all the ingredients are there, just not quite mixed properly or in the case of deleted materials that should have been left in, ingredients that simply were skipped.

The problem is the whole Prequel setup just had too much going on for the movies to properly contain. Arguably the Sequels are doing the same, for instance Bloodlines has some details that would have been really nice to know for TFA.

A Jedi who fell to the dark side because of war and saw clones as cannon fodder but was otherwise loyal to the Republic and on the side of the 'good guys' was more interesting than what we got and I would have loved to see how they would have resolved that character.

I don't think anyone was upset at TFA for being too much like TFA given it was, you know, TFA. It was, however, too much like the OT but in the worst ways. It didn't capture the spirit of the OT or the feel, it captured the plot and then pretended it was just the feel of the OT.

But even putting that aside, nobody has ever stopped believing in SW. It has continued to be an unstoppable financial juggernaut even before it was sold to Disney. It, in fact, was sold for quite a hefty price. It wasn't some weak and dying beast whose sickly body was sold to Disney who managed to use their advanced technology used to preserve Walt's head to revive it. That's a meme that can fuck right off and die.

I hated how in TFA, Kylo Ren had that broadsword style lightsaber. That was just a ripoff of the broadsword style lightsaber Kylo Ren had in TFA! And both TFA and TFA had a wrinkled orange midget lady strong with the Force, she even had the same goggles, is there no originality?
>>
>>83971844
I would actually argue that the fact that they managed to sell people a rehash of a movie that came out in the 70s was, in fact, not so much heavy lifting as it was a magic trick, but of the con artist variety. But the fact that people so easily bought into it wasn't so much gullibility but people wanted to buy into it.

>But even putting that aside, nobody has ever stopped believing in SW. It has continued to be an unstoppable financial juggernaut even before it was sold to Disney.
That's why it was weird to hear people saying "Star Wars is back!" as if it had ever actually gone anywhere. Even if they're specifically referring to the Star Wars they grew up with, the OT, it's still wrong because that kind of thinking assumes that the OT had ever gone anywhere. Contrary to popular belief, the prequels didn't even dominate SW merchandise for that long- it was only in movie years (99, 02 and 05, and even 02 is kind of iffy since that year's marketing push was specifically branded as "saga" so it didn't focus solely on AOTC nearly as much as the other two movies got in their respective years). OT-related merchandise has been available and even heavily advertised, uninterrupted, for decades now.
>>
>>83972077
That's what makes it so stupid, it wasn't anything major. It was something that you wouldn't even notice unless you were either specifically looking for those flags or were already so familiar with them that you'd spot them instantly. It was a harmless thing and he couldn't even allow that.

I suppose being fair to them it was a bit background. Most people wouldn't consider TCWs as worth watching solely because "it's just a kid's show", but that's standard Animation Age Ghetto at play. Otherwise we wouldn't have had dozens of news stories when TFA showed up about how FINALLY there is a female Jedi. Because even if we discount Shaak Ti and Aayla as very minor background characters, well Ahsoka has been around for much of the last decade. And it wasn't as if they could say "theatrical main character female Jedi" since she was in the 2008 movie which was released in theaters.

But it's reporters and bloggers, you hardly expet them to do their homework.

I am absolutely 100% not arguing with that sentiment, you are completely correct.

People argue he and his best bud Simon Pegg are avid Prequel haters. Not 100% sure about JJ but Pegg is completely unrepentent about his hatred of the Prequels and anybody who cares about them.

>I don't really have any respect for anyone who thinks those films are good. They’re not. (They’re) a monumental misunderstanding of what the (original) three films are about. It's an exercise in utter infanticide ... (like) George Lucas killing his kid.

The fact that he says something like that and then gleefully joins JJ in Nu Trek is hilarious, which barely feel like Star Trek. In fact if you ripped removed the names for the movie, the characters, the ship, and the technology it would just be another mediocre scifi movie. Several podracer (and TCW/Rebels) flags and emblems were visible in the trailer. Abrams had most of them removed for the theatrical release.

I think what happened was that he asked the art department to come up with some banners, and they decided to throw in podracer flags, which he likely didn't immediately catch and only went in and changed them when someone pointed it out to him.
>>
>>83972405
His favorite SW is ESB so the theory I've seen from people is he jumped at the chance to play a character from that movie.

Kind of makes it all the better, since at this point he's acting like a Dengar. Not the EU version who had his good points but the kind of jokey version you'd expect from a guy who wraps himself up in TP.

I think he was cool with it solely because it was an OT character. Still kind of hypocritical of him, given that to this day he is still outright venomous towards the prequels.

Like I could understand him in 2001 when he ranted about it in Spaced. But as recently as this year he's still on this "it's all shit anyone who likes it is a moron fuck Lucas fuck Jar Jar fuck midichlorians my childhood was raped" binge that's honestly pretty pathetic to cling to for this long.
>>

>>
>>83972753
>thinks midi-chlorians are literally meant to be the Force
A couple weeks ago, an anon said they believe most people new fans hate the prequel because its the popular thing to do in Star Wars. The midichlorians are proof of that. Most people spout what makes them "ridiculous" when it's clear they have no idea what they are. It's explained pretty clear in the movie they aren't the Force or ruin the mystics of Star Wars. They made an entire arc in TCW explaining they arent even close to being understood but fanboys cant think for themselves sometimes.

My thoughts exactly. For some reason both Snoke and Maz moved too slowly, it looked like it was hard for them to move freely. Maybe Maz can be excuses because of her size though. Besides from Snoke's lazy ass design, it makes no sense to CGI him at all. He can barely move at all so I doubt he'll be swinging lightsabers even at his size and if he's going to just sit around for the whole trilogy like the Emperor then you might as well just get a person in a large costume.
