Earth has been through a lot. It was even relocated a couple times.

Yes. But it was relocated once even before that. It was moved from its native solar system, where it circled around a little yellow sun. Then it founds its way to a new system, around your big red sun. It stayed there for a good while, until your sun started dying.
WHY WOULD SOMEONE MOVE A PLANET.
Its universe was about to explode. So its proprietor closed up shop and got it the hell out of there.

That's not important for you to know. Suffice to say, planets just have a way of scooting around in this adventure.

Caliborn's father, in the same universe, roamed causing destruction. One of the planets he ravaged had the fantrolls.

Bastardized Shaggy troll artist here, did a size comparison between Marmadevil and Varroc. Marmadevil specifically picks bronzebloods to train up specifically because they're the most enjoyable for it to hunt. It's sort of how dogs love chocolate even though eating chocolate can kill them, Marmadevil is aware that its ward might be able to control it before the troll is at the age for the perfect hunting specimen.
If the psychic isnt strong enough to suppress it when its older then the Marmadevil will begin hunting their ward around 6 sweeps age, and sometimes begin sooner than that if there is a chance its ward has the potential to tame or kill it beforehand.
Varroc doesn't have the animal communion ability for his own psychic inclinations and even believes he has no psychic abilities at all. This is untrue, as he has a power that projects psychic screams, just at a frequency that doesn't affect Trolls. The screams affect Lusci specifically, and if exposed to the noise for too long the sound can kill them. Varroc has to actively focus this ability but because it seems to draw Marmadevil right to him every time he uses it, he believes its a useless ability that serves to get him nearly killed every time he tries using it.

I think phrase in particular describes the connection the Rogues in the story all share, appropriate given it's relation to the whole Rogue fantasy aspect. All of them leave in the shadows of some desire they have, usually involving being close with other people, hence the idea that Rogues steal and provide to their team mates.
Roxy lived in the shadows of her world, desperate for intimacy with friends, family and potential lovers. Which helps to explain just why she develops so much in the story, given that once she enters the session with the Alphas and eventually meets up with the Beta kids she has all she ever wanted.
Nepeta on the other hand was too fearful to ever reach out to her desires, both in interacting openly with more people e.g. Flarping and being on the red team with her friends outside of Equius. Instead she took comfort in her close relationship with Equius and didn't try to push past her shadows, which explains her not reaching her potential or offering much as the Rogue of Heart to the trollsthough that's more to do with Hussie not using most of the minor trolls effectively.
I imagine in Rufioh there was a genuine desire for a real intimacy that got lost as the time in the dream bubbles stretch on, but there's little value in analyzing the dancestors.
