Bare midriffs were a fashion trend that was popular in the early 2000s, anon. Since comic artists tend to at least try to follow popular trends, we won't be seeing midriffs again until they get a new life in the real world.

This, it looks like it is glued on. It doesn't even look CLOSE to what anybody would wear unless they are in some kind of fancy dress orgy. There is sexy, and then there is fetish gear.

This does make it somewhat better. Instead of looking like a weird crotch plate, it's more like a belt-like thing that just has a red segment underneath it.
Also, this artist (pretty sure it's not the Dodsons, but I see some similarities) is much better at anatomy than Rocafort.
I never had much of a problem with the boot holes.
