The designs are shit but ive always liked the idea of the mutants actually looking fucked up so it makes sense that they're discriminated against and make efforts to hide themselves.

For example:

Angel could have, instead of literal bird wings, massive bat-like wings covered in hair, and he's albino.

Wolverine could be covered in scars, head to toe.

Subtler stuff too like telepaths could have more prominent, popping veins for increased bloodflow or something.

Iceman is always sweating, in very thin attire, shorts, sleeveless shirts, like a really scaled back Mr. Freeze.

If it wasn't the Riddler, it would've been pretty good. It wasn't the worse they could do either. Concept art had him be a lardass, which was reused for their Cluemaster.

I liked The Batman because they didn't give us "generic redesigns" though. These were wildly different from any seen before. Though it's not always the best to deviate from a script.

Still, I liked a lot of their villain redesigns. Penguin's was probably the best I feel. We will sadly never see cartoon-y ginger Ozzy and his sexy Japanese bodyguards ever again.

>Scars are a part of the skin’s natural healing process after it has experienced an injury, including accidents and any type of surgery. The new skin forms quickly as a way to protect the body from any additional threats such as bacteria and germs. There is often an overgrowth of collagen, which is one reason scar tissue looks different than other skin tissue. Furthermore, many of the skin cells become damaged, which can affect their ability to perform their regular functions.

>Initially, most scars are red or purple in color because of the injury to the skin tissue and the underlying blood vessels, as well as the natural inflammation response that is part of the body’s healing process. As the scar continues to heal sometimes the tissue turns white, which is known as hypopigmentation.

>Pigmentation in normal skin tissue is controlled by the protein melanin. Melanocyte cells produce melanin, and these cells are typically located in the deeper layers of the skin. The damage caused by a wound can damage the skin cells, and if it goes deep enough, it will also damage the melanocyte cells. When these cells are damaged, they cannot function properly, which means they do not produce the normal amount of melanin, which results in a lighter patch of skin or white skin.

Pigmentation/melanin you idiot.

As in why your scars are there.

As in your fucking skin color you idiot.

>>
>>
>>83268631
For the same reason scars take years to fade and why tans develop.
>>
>>83268035
The entire reason the Weapon X program thought Wolverine would benefit from indestructible bones is because in older books before power creep fucked up the character, Logan's healing factor couldn't regen bones.

That was also supposed to be what made Deadpool special, his healing factor was better than Logan's and he could regrow limbs.

>Smaller extra spines do not translate into 3D. Makes them look like they're made out of cheese string

The real problem with Sonic's quills in general is the fact that they're so floppy. They move like hair rather than actual quills, which are a lot more rigid. Think Sonic CD's design, where the quills do move around a lot, but they hold their shape rather than become wavy. This conveys to the viewer "these are sharp quills" rather than "this is spiky blue hair". This is the best way I can describe it, anyway. So, in in theory, if they stuck to the old design philosophy they they transitioned to 3D, the smaller quills would not be an issue at all. Sadly, it's as you say, they come off as more blue cheese strings than anything else.

>Scarf and sports tape add clutter.

I think the scarf is absolutely fine. Definitely not the color I would have picked though, it always struck me as incredibly bland for someone like Sonic. The sports tape is way over done though. That is the very definition of clutter, I agree. However I think a vest might have served as a better clothing option, if you absolutely needed one that is. Less is more, as they say.

>Forehead is fucking huge,

Uh...? It seems normal enough in that render. You're probably referring to the actual animation, in which case yeah, perplexingly, it does tend to fluctuate in size. So do the eyes and the distance between his pupils. More than a few instances of derp face in that show, but that's a whole other issue entirely.

>They went back to the overly tall, gangling, noodle limbs from 2006

Yeah a more compact Sonic is, in general, more appealing. I have nothing against taller Sonic designs, as long as they're executed well. This one isn't so great, mostly because of...

>And yes. Blue arms throw off color balance and make him look like he's wearing a body suit.

...this. 100% agreed. It feels like such an unnecessary change and it really doesn't mesh with the look they were going for either.

It'd make more sense for mutants to look more grotesque (not morlocks but certainly have something) compared to regular heroes.

IN A HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO, LIKE AN ULTIMATE UNIVERSE OR SOMETHING, WHERE THIS WOULD POTENTIALLY HAPPENING.

Jesus christ why cant you people read.

Depends on the art I guess.

Can wolverine even get a tan?

Wouldn't his healing factor just keep him peachy no matter how much of sun's cancer rays he was bombarded with?

It makes the figure not read instantaneously.
His body just seems like a manshaped dark blueish blob.
With the old blue and the red underpants you instantly see where his hips are and where the torso ends and the legs begin.
It makes it instantly readable no matter what is going on.

Hi Chris!
>>
While we're talking about Wolverine, I'm just gonna say that it really bugs me that he seems to be physically around thirty when being alive since the 1800s but Old Man Logan is, well, suddenly an old man while still in the lifespan of present Marvel characters. You'd think it'd take him at least another century to get to that point.
>>
>>83279054
that joker was somehow the cringeyest thing on that whole show.
I remind you most of the show's screentime was dedicated to teenagers with authority problems and supreme daddy issues trying to live and work together while spending all their downtime fucking each other, so you'd expect them to act like cringey retards all the time.
>>
>>83281457
His facial features arent really more rugged, its mostly his hair, which can be attributed to stress whitening following the massacre.

Same with the rest of the series. Cool, unique, and overall interesting design, but not the greatest Joker.

I still wish we had more cartoons where the designs really deviated from the source material. It's recognizable, but a bit boring. He was the first Joker as a pure, raving lunatic. He was also the first hand-to-hand actually combat ready Joker too. And he was still pretty funny (see The Laughing Bat), but he was very different from the rest.

I'll be honest, I'd like to see more Jokers wearing things other than purple suits and wimping out the second Batman tosses a punch. I'll admit the normal Joker is great, but can be a bit overdone sometimes. I'd like to see something unique from time to time.
>>
>>83281457
At a certain point, Wolverine's healing factor starts to weaken due to age and he starts to age much more rapidly. That's traditionally why future Wolverines will often have grey hair.

>Quills
I guess they feel they need to make them floppy because of how long they keep making them. It honestly looks pretty stupid.

>Scarf
I don't really like the scarf. It's probably the color like you said. It just makes him look kinda dirty or hobo-ish.

>Forehead
Yeah, that render doesn't really show it. This one is better about it >>83280796
That render also has a weird tiny head.

>Limbs
I never actually did notice that the blue arms actually make him limbs look even longer.
I did notice it makes his torso look wider and makes his apparent shoulders more noticeable. Both wouldn't be a problem with tan arms.

The shittiness of Sonic Boom's Sonic design is further compounded by the fact that the "Modern" design had finally hit its stride almost right before Boom hit. They managed to make it look as good and iconic as the Classic design did.
He's not too short or too tall, his limbs aren't too thin or noodly, he's not too chunky or too thin, his spines aren't too long, it looked great. It one of my favorite character designs.

But, like SEGA does, they had to go and ruin it. Now he's a lanky mummy hobo.

Holy shit, he claims his designs for the JL are how the New 52 should've been, and then misses the point even harder.
My biggest problems are with GL, where he drops the ring, and wants to do Kyle without the legacy aspect that made him more interesting than Peter Parker clone #27459 and the Flash, where he decides the guy should see the powers as a curse. because fuck him being a symbol of hope and optimism, right?
