How would Judy react to being dropped into our world. Would you be welcoming of her and give her a comfy base of operations? Or capture her and make her a pet.

She's rabbit-size. She would probably die after the first one from being torn apart. Unless she ended up in Japan.
>>83172103
I know my Mom would be thrilled to meet a rabbit she could talk to (well, first horrified and then thrilled, y'know how it would go). She already dotes over the rabbits that live under the bush in her yard and throws her apple cores out for them to eat.
You'd have to catch her first. I imagine she would be very fast, being a metre tall that is.
I was disappointed that our theater dropped all evening showings of Zootopia for this weekend and only had a morning and early afternoon showing scheduled. But then turns out once the weekend is over it goes back to a full 4-shows-a-day schedule. Not sure what the strategy is there, local schools aren't out quite yet.

>>83173076
Well, Alice is fresh and new and it'll go in the biggest screens (or 2nd-biggest, considering X-Men) this weekend. We haven't had Zootopia in the main screens since week #3 or #4. Also our theater is a 10-plex, so I guess there's still room to have what should hopefully be the 10th-biggest movie of the upcoming weekend.
Who are your top five favorite characters?

Perhaps, but Japan's not the one that put up $236 million towards Zootopia. Not saying they'll journey to China either, but they could come up with some sort of Chinese-Korean-Japanese blended city that could satisfy demographic criteria while deeply offending everyone else.

>>83178400
it doesn't matter if hippos or rhinos are "more dangerous", it's all physical. the whole collars thing is built upon the fear that predators might regain their instincts and go cuhrazzy. rhinos and hippos don't have those genes, so they're less expected to go cuhrazzy

Hippos and rhinos are dangerous as fuck.
>>83178482
This is Zootopia we are talking about Anon.
>>83178312
>>83178356
The premise was that all predators were seen as inherently dangerous and untrustworthy, regardless of size or particular species. The prey population outnumbered them 10 to 1, and yet still felt insecure enough to pressure them into accepting the shock collars as a security measure, in case their savage aggression and hunting instincts ever bubbled to the surface.
The concept wasn't dropped because it didn't make sense. It was dropped because focus groups ultimately found the premise to be too dark and depressing, and the creators couldn't figure out an acceptable solution around it.
Probably help her getting her way home after I fuck her in exchange thenusing it at the last second to ruin their relantionship
>>83178547

it should first and foremost, they studied all these animal behaviours basically for nothing
My mom used to have a Fox as a pet... the weird thing is that it was very well behaved
>>83178312
Yeah that was one of my gripes with the whole predator hysteria. If a hippo, rhino, buffalo or elephant got hit by those night howler pellets they would much more damage than say a fox or wolf, or maybe even a feline.
>spooning with nick
>>83178651
Yeah, but Bellweather's plan is to dart the pred to make them looks dangerous in the eye of the public. Darting those huge preys doesnt work with her plan.
>>83178596
>it should first and foremost, they studied all these animal behaviours basically for nothing
That would be pre-production research, before there was even a coherent story in place. The project started out with the basic concept of making an animal fable movie, much in the vein of Robin Hood. The tons of research made was implemented in trying to shape out how the city of Zootopia would be shaped and developed, as well as how different animal species should look, walk, and so on. Disney's animation projects usually take a good 4-5 years from inception to release, and a good chunk of that time is spent in the pre-production phase.
>>83177797
Dude. Haven't you ever noticed how strong bakers are? Especially the ones who make dough? Carrying around 50lbs of flour ain't easy, nor is kneading by hand. I would really like to see an accurate representation of spotted hyenas in Zootopia. Pic related in particular.
I could also see the story:
>Let's call it Zootopia: The Pre-Sequel
>Starts roughly a week before Zootopia with investigative journalist Abrams Roth (simply called Abe through the story, a red panda and the main protagonist) watching Major Lionheart handing Judy her badge on the tv.
>Abe is working on the case of the missing predators, and he hires Hylda Savage (a female spotted hyena private investigator) to help him out.
>Abe is an idealist paladin of justice with a somewhat self-righteous attitude who wants to dispel the darkness in Zootopia with the light of truth.
>Hylda is a bitter and jaded woman who has seen some shit when she was part of the STAB (Special Transactions and Affairs Bureau - an elite secret police force of sorts).
>They later enlist the help of Hylda's former colleague, a male bullterrier named Eric Bullston who is like an even more bitter Hylda.
>Main focus is on the moral differences between Abe and Hylda/Bullston, as the former tries his best to be a good guy while his partners are not afraid to stain their hands.
>As they go through the underbelly of Zootopia, Abe grows increasingly distressed from the corruption he has witnessed during his investigation.
>They finally reach Cliffside Asylum. Hylda and Bullston assault the place, easily dispatching its anteater guards. Abe faces Major Lionheart, and the major tries to reason with Abe - he is adamant to tell the truth however and turns down Lionheart. Hylda and Bullston are far less concerned, and Lionheart can bribe them to keep their mouth shut.
>Abe leaves the asylum, only to be caught by Hylda and Bullston. They give him one last chance to change his mind, but Hylda is eventually forced to dispatch Abe by throwing him off the cliff.

>furries generally go for all sorts of species that no one thinks of first

Although, as of Saturday, it pulled ahead on the running tally, $333,879,563 to $333,405,120, so passing the final total is only a matter of time as long as we can get to June 7th averaging at least $100k per day.
>>83179557
I know, but it's okay to accept decline. I miss teeming mass of friendly anons to chat with in threads like these, but there is nothing wrong with going slow or not have threads at all, in fact.
At some point we have to move on and expand our horizons by working on the hobbies this movie hopefully motivated us to pick up, dropping by every so often for old times sake.
It's much much better than having poor threads and I'm sure we all have more finesse and insight to accept these things.
>>83179652
>Abe survives the fall and returns to Zootopia where he is now a wanted criminal. He sneaks into a radio station to play his conversation with Lionheart he recorded with his smartphone.
>Lionheart appears suddenly, being able to track down Abe, and after a brief confrontation he takes Abe's smartphone and stomps it.
>Broken and disillusioned, Abe is thrown into jail, but Hylda and Bullston break him out because they "like him more than they respect the major".
>The three then drives to the sunset, ready to make a new life from the money Lionheart gave to Hylda and Bullston.

>>83175625
You should read the whole thing
>>83179736
Whatever. Here are some specifications I've made up while writing the plot:
>Nick shows up in a cameo as she is one of the people Abe looks up as part of his investigation.
>Hylda has lots of stories about how corrupt the city is, and he constantly shares them with Abe. Like, Lionheart became major because Mr. Big rigged the elections. However, Mr Big became a crime boss because Lionheart (an influential government official back then) ordered the STAB to destroy the Ocelot Cartel (the former lords of the Zootopia underworld).
>There is a scene right from Sicario, when Hylda and Bullston interrogate a cat(?) with a water jug.
>Another scene has the three look up a puma in a bathhouse. The puma hits on Hylda, teasing her with dropping her towel and "reveal some fur". Hylda plays along, but the towel gets stuck on her pseudo-penis, much to the puma's terror.
>After being bribed by Lionheart, Bullston advises the major to replace the anteater security with timber wolves.
>In their final confrontation, Abe attacks Lionheart, but he can only get the "cute red panda attack pattern": he launches his paws into the air and falls to his back.

>Chinese-Korean-Japanese blended city
You mean Chinese-Japanese blend.
Nobody outside of Korea is going to incorporate Korean design elements into their Orientalist shit.
>>83179116
it is true, they build such a huge world it could be comparable to star wars universe, meanwhile disney thought it's gonna be just flavour of the month - movie.
>>83180433
But they could. They totally could.
>>83180520
>They are most likely betting on Moana and Frozen 2.
Would also explain the virtually non-existent marketing of Zootopia.
As it stands Zootopia will definitely get a TV show or sequel (Tangled and BH6 will get a TV show after all) and those were way under the Box Office and popularity of Zootopia.

An animated movie that was meant to play second fiddle to the year's main feature title, is pulling in sales far beyond projections, mostly due to it's in-depth and vibrant setting and widely appealing protagonists; Two elements that are very convenient for expansions and sequels. And you think Disney is just going to leave it be?
>>83172332
Yum. The carrot is a nice touch.
actually, i am curious.. when was the last time Disney made a succesful talking animal movie that turned into a franchise?

there are no signs they'll pick it up.
i have no idea what are they saying.
How much do you think Judy could reasonably squat.
>>83181133
*they are saying
>>83181144
>>83181029
Of course not, it's only been out since March, and hasn't even been fully pulled from theaters yet, let alone the Blu-Ray and DVD sales that are on the horizon. Whatever they're planning for Zootopia now, won't be apparent for a while yet.
>>83181029
Except you're wrong and Byron indirectly confirmed talks abut future expansions are already ongoing. This is even before bluray hit the shelves.

Found it on Vk (Russian Facebook) no idea where they got it from.
You can see that photo in the background at the ZPD station during the movie I think.

Computer animated movies look so fucking good now. Thinking back to when Toy Story came out, and you just kind of accepted that weird shine to textures and clumsy movements were part of the deal, and now, you can look at the grass, and see patches of different density and shade, and detailed, well-textured fur on animals even far away.
>>83181361
TUUUuuu.....t
>>83181381
I was too young to care about the graphics in Toy Story when I watched it for the first time, but I've seen images from it since and it looks, well, 'bad'.
I wonder where we go from here with films like this... Would love to see it rendered at crazy resolutions like 8K so we could really see all the detail. Interesting times, for sure.
>>83181420
I'm only kidding, little guy. Please forgive me
>>83181496
>I wonder where we go from here with films like this
Anywhere we want to, anon. The medium is so flexible, that you can use it to go further and further into photorealism, or achieve a more classic "cartoony" look. Frankly, I'm intrigued by the technology they used for that "Paperman" short, that uses 3D models to create a more Cell-animated look, but one that nonetheless keeps proportions because of the consistent nature of computer-generated characters.
Today is the last day Zootopia is in my theater. Pretty long run, I'd say. It was down to two showings a day as of late.
>>83181596
I'll be honest in that I prefer "The Blue Umbrella" to that short since I love how they genuinely attempted photorealism with the former, but that one is pretty impressive too. I hope that rendering time eventually becomes constant (as we get closer and closer to 'reality') instead of rapidly increasing like it is. Consumer hardware progress is abysmal and render farms are getting bigger and bigger, so it's pretty depressing to think about

>elephants
Those wee little wooden chairs should be smashed.
Are they streaming this somewhere yet?
