I've heard people here complain that Peridot's redemption was too rushed, that she just sort of turned to the "good guys" side with little real motivation to do so. Well I thought of something that I think might help explain that. So from "When It Rains", we know that Peridot has been using Steven's toothbrush, right? But why? Peridot wouldn't care about the condition of her teeth, hell, she doesn't even eat. And she must know what it's for, since Steven showed her. So why would she use the toothbrush? Well, what else do we know about Steven's mouth? He's got healing spit. So maybe Peridot has been healed, from the inside, by Steven's leftover spit on the toothbrush. And that's not all. We know that Peridot knows about the healing spit, too, since she asked him to fix the warp pad and he licked his hand. Even if she doesn't know specifically about the spit, she knows that whatever fixed Lapis' gem comes from Steven's mouth. And she knows that the toothbrush goes in his mouth. She knowingly brushed her teeth hoping to be healed so she could join the Crystal Clods.

It just depends on who youre addressing, how you see the fusion, and how they see themselves. Steven and Connie dont see themselves as one person when they fuse because they havent really mind melded like Garnet has, who says "I" when adressing herself and specifically says "we" when its advice or a comment coming from or concerning Ruby and Sapphire. Sugilite was "I" because she had become very lost in herself to the point of not considering her components. Its really just a case by case basis depending on what the fusion wants or how they feel. Stevonnie isnt ready yet to form her own, solid fusion personality. They may never do it, really. We just have to see.
