Yes agree here with >>82831958 - we had to suffer through the overwrought DOOMED story line, they shouldn't bring Doomsday back for a good decade and only if they had a good story to tell as with Reign of Doomsday. Especially given that Jurgens isn't seen as a top writer, it just makes it look like they are trotting him out like a dino-rock star, doing his greatest oldies that are definitely moldy.

Written by JAI NITZ and MICHAEL MORECI
Art by CLIFF RICHARDS and OSCAR BAZALDUA • Covers by MIKE HUDDLESTON
Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.
From the pages of SUICIDE SQUAD comes an all-new series featuring two of the team’s most infamous heroes, El Diablo and Boomerang! First, a sudden pardon frees the fiery El Diablo from Belle Reve prison, much to the shock (and irritation) of team leader Amanda Waller. Chato returns to his old neighborhood to reunite with his family, but when he’s attacked by a heavily armed local gang and their leader, the deadly, super-powered Bloodletter, will his freedom and his life get cut dramatically short?
Meanwhile, in the first chapter of two-part tale written by Michael Moreci (from DC’s Writers Workshop program) with art by Oscar Bazaldua, Boomerang and the Squad embark on a mission to take down a ruthless dictator within a small, unstable Central American nation, but when the mission goes awry, the Squad must jump in a helicopter and flee as all hell breaks loose. But amid the chaos, the team realizes one of them was accidentally left behind: Boomerang! How can he stay alive long enough to be rescued when a whole army wants him dead?

Danny O'Neil interests me very little as a Superman writer and it was among his stupid Bronze Age ideas ripping on the better explained and more frequently used Manbat that Adams came up with years earlier.

IF they weren't placing the book in the tv continuity but instead had Kara stuck in the Phantom Zone and THEN she met him, that would be one thing. Otherwise, I'm one of these people that think one of the problems with the Superbooks was deciding to create all these all of sudden now living Kryptonians NOT-ON or IN-A-PARALLEL-DIMENSION.

OR if they set this IN a parallel dimension, say prior to Kandor being destroyed by Brainiac (or whatever story they actually used, I forget the details now) and Lar-On became something due to experimentation by Brainiac versus just random 'werewolves' on Krypton, maybe.

My bigger issue is actually setting it in the series continuity and I actually have been watching the series and don't hate it, just think it needs more work and less CW-level romance drama.

Seriously, this.

It's like they decided that it wasn't poor choices, bad decisions, awful writers, and story/plot lines being ignored or dropped/going all over that caused poor sales on Superman books, totally ignoring sales for Morrison's Action run or for Snyder's Superman Unchained, and deciding that they have to DOUBLE DOWN REALLY ABSOLUTELY HARD in that My Name is Dan DiDio and I'm the most Oblivious Man Alive because I sincerely believe WE ONLY SELL TO 45 YEAR OLD MEN way so let's re-do tired shit.

I didn't want to agree with the dramatic people, but DC as a company really doesn't seem to know why people like Superman. It's even worse that when they saw people saying they wanted pre-Flashpoint Superman they seem to think that means people want shitty 90s Jurgens Superman and not at least Kelly-era stuff. Even if it is his fault though it's hard for me to blame Didio because he tends to push for books I like.

She and her husband (who's the colorist) also have a habit, especially him, of name/titlesearching on Twitter and getting into arguments with people who disagree. I don't dislike what they're doing, but they're very "this is how classic Wondy should be", and really overreacted in public to not getting greenlit for future projects as quickly as they thought they should.

I think the reveal itself was fine but after that first arc the build up to find her again and fight was kind of pointless since he had to fight her yet again in the Vandal Savage crossover? I don't know. Seems like half the Truth story overall could have been told in a separate event mini and the ongoings should have just had fun with the status quo. Best parts were the parts that didn't dwell on the overarching shit.

>>
>>82835231
Starfire and Hawkgirl are still there from what I can tell so it is pretty odd.

I don't understand acting out like this though. Unless she just realizes that she has enough of an audience now that she doesn't need to do anything else with DC to make a profit on creator owned stories.
>>
>>82835320
If men aren't going to buy and wear the shirt if it has a woman prominently displayed on it, then she has to go, that's good business sense.
>>
>>82833220
I'm not confused >>82833280 - they are using KEY plot points. A cue would be using the outfit, they have her LIVING in NATIONAL CITY and have Cat Grant there as well.

Yes, I know it will not mimic the TV show, but you can bet it wasn't Orlando's idea to take Cat Grant from being the same age as Clark and barely employable to being a peer or even mentor to Kara. OR his idea to stick her as the hero of National City OR make her an EMPLOYEE of the DEO.

The last Action Comics is the return of Supergirl to the current continuity. And where do we find her? In NATIONAL CITY. And what was she doing there? She was AT THE DEO.

> with all the bondage elements removed

>>
>>82833546
They are bringing Lar-On to National City in the same way they justify all the Kryptonians on the TV show. They barely acknowledge Krypto's existence in the current continuity once Morrison's run was done. The only other Kryptonian they had floating around in addition to the two they SHOULD have (Kara and Kal) are all bad freak ideas they've coughed up for the New 52, and they were created by lazy/shitty writers (e.g. H'El and Murder Dad/Cyborg Superman). Now, we're getting another one, who coincidentally is a werewolf.

Who will show up in NATIONAL CITY. And will get on Kara's radar because she WORKS at/for the DEO. Not ARGUS, which has been in JL and Dark Universe and all sorts of other places in the continuity since 2011, but the DEO.
>>
>>82833742

RIP Carter.
>>
>>82835523
It's still not in the TV universe. It's in main continuity. They're just tossing out just about everything from before except for Cyborg Superman being her dad.
>>
>>82835523
>The only other Kryptonian they had floating around in addition to the two they SHOULD have (Kara and Kal) are all bad freak ideas they've coughed up for the New 52

You forgot the Phantom King who is a fun and not bad at all
>>
>>82835523
They're bringing Lar-On, because Orlando loves Bronze Age villains and wants to use them in his stories.
Cyborg Superman is staying and the first arc seems to be about him.
D.E.O. has been used before, in Batwoman, for example, but okay, I agree that they're using that element because of the show.
>>
>>82832171
Didn't they just do this "new speedsters get killed" thing in the New 52? Or did I imagine that?
>>
>>82833646
That would be good. I'd love if they partnered her with the Legion which they didn't really off with Justice League United.

>>82833966
Yes, and they even used Chase on the Flash or was it Arrow? But they've been using ARGUS with Justice League Dark and other books, plus with the main Trinity stories. The DEO along with the LOCATION of National City are what I have problems with. They essentially want to bring in new readers.

I hated what they did with JLU Supergirl. They essentially used her to make Hamilton (a key Superman ally) into a bad guy who hates/mistrust Clark and therefore used/abused Kara and created a clone as in Reign because lazy writers and then end up tossing her to the future because Brainy and they really didn't know what to do with another Kryptonian on any ongoing basis. Booster had less face time and less lines and comes across better than Timm's Kara.
>>
>>82833995
I've never said Bob Kane was anything other than a hack and a money-grubbing credit grabbing one at that.
>>

I can sell people on New 52 Superman by giving them the first two Morrison issues of the run. It got several people who haven't been in a comic book store to buy the first trade.

>>82834997
I bought Men of Tomorrow for my local library since they weren't going to buy it, they spend all their YA money (which is what they list all ANY graphic novel, sequential art book or comic as) on Batman and Harley, or Avengers and Iron Man.

I still prefer Morrison's run. It felt like Johns ran of issues and crammed that ending because they told him to stop writing books and work more on the TV and Film stuff (which they did).

>>82835690
Manabooch AND Venditti/Jensen did this. Random people empowered by the Speed Force and Barry has to deal with it -- but also there's an evil main speedster.

The Reverse Flash arc had it, the Thawne arc had it, and now the Godspeed arc, apparently, will have it.

It is as uninspired as possible, doubly so since Williamson's just going to make everyone a speedster so there won't even be any power diversity like we got with Manapul and Venditti.
