There's still corrupted gems, the Earth is pretty much permanently altered, who knows what kind of impact the rebellion had on the homeworld, and all the humans that died in the rebellion don't really have a way of un-dying. Even then I don't think they'd really be restored until either very close to the end of the series or in a post-climax final episode, if at all.

Most likely what it would have happened, as the plan seemed to be to break the cluster in several piece up until its formation wouldn't endanger the earth. That being said, it would have resulted in the gem shard that weren't meant to be together to be broken apart and their state of mind as we have seen was to seek for their own part while being unable to car about the other shard's plea up until Steven mediated them.
So I'd say their level of suffering wouldn't have changed much anyway.
