Alright, so realistically, what direction will Disney go with this now that we're guaranteed entry into the 1 billion cool club? TV Shows? Comic Books? A Sequel? And just how soon will it be announced?
Disney's only done 1 canon sequel so far (Rescuers Down Under), but apparently they've announced multiple sequels in the future so I guess they might do one. I hope not, though. The lack of original properties in Hollywood is fucking abysmal.
>>82448057

Normally I'd agree, but Zootopia is fucking begging for a continuation of ANY kind. It's like setting up the stage for a play, props, setting, writing, actors, all spot on, and then just putting it all away to make room for some capetrash, Star Wars, or Generic Brown Princess 7. A Zootopia sequel or TV Show would write itself. A Frozen or Cars sequel, or the Lion King TV show aren't that great because the source material didn't leave much room for much more worldbuilding. Zootopia Went overboard on worldbuilding, and as a result, feels like it has a lack of content.

Thank God those people aren't working for Disney then, because the team that wrote Zootopia did pretty well, It was a very nice spin on the Buddy Cop story. If they can take a movie that was in developmental hell, fix aspects that don't work, and write a story from the ashes of the old one, they're pretty fucking resourceful. Now that everything in the universe is established, the render farms are up and running, and they have PLENTY of resources for future prospects, they can take it literally anywhere, and considering how good Zootopia was, I don't think they'll be taking it in the wrong direction.

Idk, would make for an okay plot point, however, I have no idea how that could be written without repeating the buddy cop trope.
>Religion
Would definitely be interesting, seeing as they put so many allusions to religion in the first movie, yet it would be box office suicide internationally, unless it was REALLY fucking discrete. I still don't know how that could be written in, although I would have said the same about making stereotyping a motif, had I not seen the film first.

Interspecies relationships as a metaphor for all prejudices related to love. Last time prejudice was in the context of being able to work and live where you wanted, next it should be prejudice preventing relationships. It would be the same lesson but a different problem and this time the theme would also include a subtle comparison to LGBT-rights since animals aren't allowed to date if they aren't the same species.

>It was a lifelong dream, but now that he achieved it, Nick is not sure the police life is for him. Only weeks ago it was a source of endless pride -- the only source he ever had -- yet the vicissitudes of life now make his job a source of woe. A cop has to deal with mammals at their worst; beyond the obvious risk of bodily harm and death, there's the slow attrition against his morale. And seeing these same people get put away, only to be replaced by more of the same, like the precincts are a meat grinder, processing more and more flesh into meat, more and more people into a broken system. Yes, you can tell Nick is very disillusioned. His childhood dream turned out to be a nightmare. And that's not even the worst of it. No, the worst of all, the capstone of personal crisis is this: he has no other dreams to chase. He has nowhere to go but down.

Let's see the other side of the bias coin, let's see those animals that act superior because they believe they are and think the rules don't apply to them.
Animals like Lionheart, big predators that can overpower the rest, the rich, entitled, the beautiful, the talented, those that make more money, live for less, show us this equality utopia at the seams, the places where people like Nick can pull a string and turn it into tatters.
And show night howlers turning into an addictive recreative drug that causes a huge scare and crime wave.

I think a good opening for zoo2pia would be nick and judy being assigned to investigate a nighthowler cartel, set up as the main plot, but after 5 minutes they're like "there's no big dealer. just people stealing from florists and pesticide companys. Also, this'll blow over in about a month because being on nighthowler is about as fun as drinking bleach" and BOOM subplot ends

The importance of forgiveness
Let's say that, in the sequel, Nick and Judy break up a fistfight while on their patrol only for Nick to find that one of the arrested are one of the former scouts from his muzzle incident -- only now, he's drunk, homeless, and engaging in fistfights. However, Nick still holds all his feelings from the incident and calmly, yet very sternly, begins to verbally harass him. Only when Judy threatens to write him up for misconduct does he finally stop, and soon after she angrily confronts him about why he was just threatening a subdued suspect. He explains his connection (which also explains his feelings), turning Judy's feeling from anger to pity as she explains in turn to Nick that he should never hold on to a grudge for this long, especially as she brings up her experience with Gideon. Nick knows in his heart that she's right, but finds it hard to accept the truth as it's finally presented to him.
This wouldn't be the main plot, mind you, but just be part of one as a whole that has Nick as the main character for a change as he embarks on the Hero's Journey
