There's nothing wrong with that, I love seeing Spidey being a brutal motherfucker who ain't afraid of punishing bad guys like they deserve.
This story alongside Origin of the Species are some of the best Spidey moments in my book.
Oh nice, ASM 539 was the first comic book I ever bought. Got JMS to sign it for me at a con a couple years ago. He didnt seem too happy.

Yeah, this; you can see it in the pages. Kingpin calls Spider-Man weak in front of everyone and express solidarity with them against him, then mocks him. He still expects Spidey to basically back down and then pull his punches when he gets mobbed.
Note that his grandstanding and goads get more desperate as he goes on.
Then look at the expressions on the prisoners when Spidey takes his mask off. Peter gets the crowd on his side by expressing violent, ruthless desires and makes a chump out of the grandstanding theatrical guy. Themes, man.

Back in Black is great for seeing Peter cut loose, but there's not too much in sense going on in most of the characters' heads, including Peter. They're all jackasses in some way or another in this one, but it's still a decent read.

Kingpin, historically, has a horrible track record of underestimating how dangerous a man can be when you've taken everything from him. You'd think he would have learned from what he did to Daredevil that trying to break a dude that fights crime in tights is a surefire way to get your shit pushed in.

I've always loved spider-man, and since coming to /co i've heard all the shit about how if he stopped messing around and playing games just how deadly he could be but I've never read a comic where it happened. Besides this I've seen the one where he's looking for that baby and beating the shit out of all New York's criminals.I dont know about anyone else but this one takes the fucking cake
