Dude, school in Italy is pretty much structured like it was in the 1800s: it's the place where you go to memorize stuff, and being continuously tested and evaluated on that.
Maybe some elementary schools nowadays teach some basic home economy, but forget about ever having extra-curricular stuff in high-school: one should be thankful there's PE!In fact, the simple element of picking one's own studying classes makes me smile: one of the worse decisions in my life consisted in choosing the wrong high school institute, and I payed it by getting a diploma on a subject I wasn't interested in, and not the kind of instruction I wanted in retrospect. An example would be what they did with Kim/Ron where they didn't directly show interest in each other until the season 3 finale, there wasn't really any context to base it off of. They could've went about it a little better.
If they're gonna go that route I'd rather have them gradually coming to terms with their feelings over the course of the season, with various conflicts in-between rather than just pushing it on us outright.

Marco finds out that while Jackie is fun to be around and is a good person, the things she spends her time on aren't of interest to Marco. Skateboarding isn't something he's good at or has fun doing. Time with her is time away from Star, which is time away from the adventures he's become accustomed to despite his complaining. In the end they're still friends but they want to pursue what they like.
For Oskar it's hard to see him be anything other than dull for Star. She might convince him to go out and do stuff with her a few times but in the end he likes just hanging out and playing music on his car. Star like's his style, music and company but he just isn't fun to be around like she's used to.
Basically Star lives at a different speed from most of the other students around her, and Marco is both able to keep up and thrives off that kind of life.I'm all for Starco but don't want anything other than hints at romance until they're late teens/adults.

Simply develop Star and Marco romantically along the series, it can be done since we saw Jackie develop slowly from thinking Marco was a weirdo to getting really happy to see him and wanting to sit next to him.
Since Marco and Star would slowly grow to be in love with each other then is when you can make it so Marco and Star respectively still get close to their crushes but settle on just becoming friends because they now love someone else.
