You might wanna skip the first 1 or 2 if you're not a fan of 90s art, but it's basically the start of DP's solo run and it's where they made the character who he is. If you want a good arc, the whole Mithras storyline was fantastic, I don't want to spoil it but it's GOOD.
Also the storyline with wade beefing up his healing factor by needing blood samples from wolverine and the hulk meaning he's gotta fight them is amazing. He starts a fight with the (at that point alive and pacifist) wolverine by shoryuken'ing kitty pryde right in front of logan in japan, who then goes apeshit.
It's a fucking FUN read., and Kelly wrote some of his best stuff there (otuside of Quantum and Woody, natch) And of course you can always skip to the Cable and Deadpool series, they were really well done too.

Except that Gwenpool is an original character from the same creative team currently doing her book, if I'm not mistaken, so it's a situation a bit different than a shit character being reworked by a different author.
And I don't see how an author could create a character that is pure cancer and at the same time makes great stories for it. Gwenpool has given me no reasons to believe it's good in any form based on the issues I've read.

There's a few really early things like Circle Chase that have SUPER dated artwork, like crazy early on before DP is well, DP. And he's just a generic Slade Wilson knockoff, but the kelly stuff and the later christopher priest stuff were a lot of fun.wait till loki shows up, and marvel's fake Lobo expy and- oh you're in for some fun, I wanna re-read my old issues now.
