I'm doing a reread right now, after I'm gonna reread all of the other mspadventures then Homestuck again because this is what my life has become.

Rereading this gets better each time. You catch a few more tidbits, and I think by my fifth reread in the next month or so I'll fully understand it. This time so far (just starting Act 6) I finally realized that the person who was Jade's pen pal and helped work on Liv was Jake. Should've clicked when I first read HS then saw how Jake typed, but oh well.
it's a shame that Cascade is the climax because I love every part from WV: Ascend up until Cascade. I don't HATE Act 6, however the Alpha kids are kinda boring aside from Trickster, aside from Roxy. Roxy's cool.

After rereading it, I sort of realized why it was quick to fall off it's high horse. The most interesting and engaging meat of the story, sburb is neglected and shafted completely some part through the 5th act. As one of the strongest characters, the setting is severely neglected and by the end pretty much a non-factor. Everything about the planets and world building gets shoddy exposure save for the Genesis frog at the end, and even that we really only see the very end of. Is it any wonder this comic became a slogged out bore?

Don't listen to all the naysayers. The first part of the comic (Act 1) is a bit slow, but by Acts 2-5 are filled with intertwining plot threads along with really funny dialogue and great characters. Act 6 is where many readers feel like Homestuck dropped in quality, but I personally enjoyed a large part of it. The ending is really controversial, though.

Someone explain the while lusus deal with trolls. I know that their blood determines their caste and can give them abilities but what confuses me is the lusus aspect. Specifically, the idea of trolls of the same blood colour each having a lusus of the same kind.
