roughly.
>>
Has there even been word from Kaz in the last two months? Maybe he's dead in the attic, surrounded by sadcat merch.
>>
>>81588670
He has posted in a few threads about it. He is wrapping up on the last of the merch or at least he was a few weeks ago
>>
>>81588670

I got my merch two days ago, so presumably he's still alive.

I kinda wish I was gay so I could be Kaz's bf, and constantly harp at him to actually do things on a schedule.

And to not do a fucking merch drive while working on a big update.

Yup I'm here and It looks pretty bad. What I heard is that the whole forum archive was been deleted and there were no back ups so everything is lost. More in depth details here:
http://not-terezi-pyrope.tumblr.com/post/142408517431/im-sort-of-annoyed-at-what-pumpkin-right-now

We'll have to see if they are able to restore it somehow. It would be a real shame to see everyone's hard work get completely destroyed.

I still have my hopes up even though it looks that all the adventures are lost. So in the mean time I'm going to switch to Eagle Time Forums where I'm going to restart The Book of Glint tonight. We were still at the beginning on mspaforums so it's not hard to just start over.

But if Mspaforums come back I'm also going to switch back.

Expect the first update in couple of hours.

If you want a reference then it will take me a couple of minutes, until I can take it. I quickly took that one and a few other when I first opened my box. Fun fact about my phone: When I take lots of pictures/videos within a certain time frame, my phone assumes I'm at some event and will make a video by selecting a few of them at random, flip them, turn them upside down, add special effects, and add its own music. So here's that https://youtu.be/dA9wyqBczEY

If she has a week or so left that should take at least 14 years at the current rate we're going.

The fifth day lasted just short of two years.

We've currently been on the sixth day for 1.6 years.

I think the only way we're going to actually see that happen is if he has it say "a week later..." or something.

I put went through and recorded the date of every update since the start in an excell document and posted a few graphs here a few months ago.

day 14 is gonna last 200,000 years by my best current estimates.

It was interesting to get a little look at what all the merchandise and packing stuff is like. Thanks.
>>
>>81601142
>Be honest, Kaz. You grossly underestimated the workload for a crowdfunding's rewards, didn't you?

The workload isn't vastly different from what I expected, but the part that took me by surprise was the planning and extraneous stuff. Like, getting 500lbs of Tshirts affordable delivered to me took time and planning. Setting up the shipping companies took time and planning. Getting the comics to print right took time and planning. When it comes down to it, I'm just now doing what I thought I'd be doing in early January. I suspect this is what catches a lot of people off-guard when they're delivering crowdfunding rewards.

>>81601078
Probably not! But this is a paid thing, and it's overdue, so I figure my primary obligation is to get this out. I'm not ignoring the update alltogether; I've been working on it in tandem.

For the sake of keeping this post /co/ related, I'd also ask Kaz if he has any plans on adding any DLC stuff in his thing in the future. Could Katia ever visit the Shivering Isles? If not as the hero than as the butt of some daedric joke?
If you don't have anything planned at this time, do you think you ever would? Or do you want to keep her grounded in Cyrodil?

Which autists? There are a few of them. I don't entirely approve of how some people treat, like, fifteen people on Tumblr as "the Prequel fandom", but they don't seem to cause THAT many problems. Then we have the people who try to ascertain the exact level of lizard toplessness allowed, who seem pretty chill.

>>81604332
At the risk of losing all respect ever, I didn't like Shivering Isles that much. It was like someone writing about mental illness with the level of understanding Tintin displayed toward other cultures. I think it was banking on mushroom fetishsits from Morrowind.

User profiles have gender+pronoun options visible, so keeping those in mind and a new tab (with a lavish slathering of sigular "they") will go a long way toward keeping forumular harmony

No, I wasn't offered a job.

Honestly, I'd probably turn it down if I was. You guys know that I'm oldschool indie; I have the most fun on small games with <10 people and <1yr production time. While I can respect and enjoy the high-budget stuff like Bethesda makes, the thought of being a part of it doesn't really appeal.

>>81611973
The shipping consolidator I'm working with is going to try to ascertain the best company to use for each country. In stuff like Europe this will mostly involve identifying the most affordable one, but in South America it'll be, like, "which one actually arrives more than half the time".

There was a guy a few years back who subbed a whole bunch of anime that we on /m/ thought untouchable, such as Dougram. When I offered to buy a figure of the main mech from the show he refused it, stating he would likely never see it. What's up with the post office around those parts?
>>
Hey everybody! I made an unboxing video of some of Kazerad's merchandise! Let me know what you think!

>>
>>81612395

I doubt you have big-team-big-company compatible talents, in fact as an independent creator you're probably useless without full control, but i'd still like to see you participate in a TES project in some way just because it would make me feel really warm inside to see your work while playing the games. You give something really special to that setting.

Write an ingame book or something.
>>

On the bright side I got my bag today. Fits my pathfinder / D&D stuff quite handsomely. The logo on the side looks like it'd look great under a black light, but I wouldn't dare bring one in my room.

An in-game book would be awesome. I'm kind of hoping for a subtle Prequel reference, regardless of involvement, since it apparently has at least one fan at Bethesda.

>>81613392
I'm not always in control; it's actually pretty fun being a writer/artist on someone else's project. The thing with high-budget projects is that every part takes so much coordination and labor that additions/modifications are very costly.

Like, if you want to change a scene that's already been made in a low-budget game, you're looking at maybe a few hours of labor from a combined writer/scripter. In a higher-budget production, changing something like this after the fact would involve calling back animators, voice actors, programmers, etc.. As a result, you run into things that aren't quite working, but would be too costly to change, and I really hate being in that position.

I wasn't really sure why this was labelled that. Didn't think a couple "fucks" were enough to warrant it but hey maybe vimeo has a different rating system. The whole "blood being spilled over sad cats" thing caught me off guard. How the hell do you have the presence of mind to wear gloves so as not to stain the merchandise but not to be careful when handling fucking combat knives.

Anyway, how are you feeling? Is everything alright?

Also, are you the guy who made like prequel cookies or something? I think there was someone baking something drunk in a prequel thread way back in like the fall but I forget. Not even 100% sure it was prequel. Sorry if I'm thinking of a completely different thing.

>>
>>81623486
If you mean like writing flavor books, a developer could get anyone to do that about as well as I could. The part of writing that's more interesting, enjoyable and - in smaller productions - valuable is nonlinear writing. Like, when you see Essential characters or Key Required doors in Skyrim, that stems from a lack of nonlinear writing - the game just doesn't account for how to handle it if you want to, say, kill Ulfric the first time you meet. This is the sort of thing that's pretty miserable in bigger projects, though.

It's not that I'm morally opposed to getting involved in bigger stuff, it's just that it's more enjoyable in smaller projects, and honestly probably pays better.

And here is the Imgur link:

That all being said, this comic will appear in much better quality, and will be much easier to read on the Side Stories section some time in the near-ish future. I'm mostly posting this to validate the time spent picking this comic up from my buddy, scanning, and cropping everything with zero experience.

sorry about the spoiler for any 4chanX users

I'm thinking Prequel will progress like Freeman's mind. Massive droughts throughout, then a mad dash to finish off strong.

Then again, the guy behind Freeman's mind got dicked by Machinima, lived off ~10k a year, and somehow ended up in Poland through it all. Kaz might have some adventures with kitchen utensils every now and then, but I don't think it's fair to compare him to Ross Scott.

I actually don't mind incredibly slow webcomics / video series. It's fun to see how I change as a person as I grow older next to the content

It may be because I live on the East Coast, but what you can and cannot show in schools is restrictive as fuck in some places.

I was reprimanded by the administration of a local high school saying "Pussy Riot" and showing some pictures of Russian soldiers with guns when I teaching a 10th grade class about the basics of Russian foreign policy and Russian society. A couple of AK's and the word "Pussy" was all it took.

I have a feeling that a non-flat chested catgirl in a non-prudent pose could blow up in a teacher's face if some kid mentioned it to their psychotic parents.

I can also tell you that the High Schoolers that do know what Furries are hate them with a passion. There is no ambivalence. At the very least, the teacher would be opening the door to some major disrespect.

Is it fair to say that Kaz is much more inclined to be a writer than an artist?

I understand that he's done impressive work with programming and whatnot, but desu he's a very reluctant artist. Many artists do fanart to show off their skills, but Kaz prefers to write essays (when he does anything at all).

Nothing against that, ofc. However, maybe if Kaz found someone who only liked to draw...

>>
It's sad to put myself in Kaz's shoes. I mean here you have such a popular (here anyhow) story you're telling, but you KNOW in your heart of hearts that there will be no happy resolution.

Katia makes being a loser work for her, story-wise it's great because we, the readers, get to cheer for an eternal underdog. We keep seeing shit get heaped onto her, and she keeps coming back, more or less in one piece. Things are continually ramping up though, and her talents, while impressive, aren't always going to be enough. When she breaks in to Sig's place, any number of minor things can (and probably WILL) go wrong. Kat is a hero though, from our perspective in that she goes in KNOWING that she has absolutely cursed luck. She might make it in and out of Sig's, might even find her stuff (which at this point may just have been turned into kindling or fenced at some other location, book and all). Kat will leave Sig's, defeated, also wounded, and while travelling back to Lizbian's house she'll huddle under a tree for shelter, and die... alone.

Kaz doesn't want to write that. Any more than any of us want to read that. That's Kat's destiny though, to die because of her fuck-ups.

That's actually going to be one of the themes I'm gonna do. Whenever Cayla comes to a new somewhat significant environment, I'm going to make a larger piece with different kind of style to give the reader kind of sense what kind of environment were dealing with.

The art continues to look fantastic. Hat's off to you on that one.

Your writing has also gotten a ton better, but it still feels like it's relying on telling as opposed to showing. The mementos from Cayla's friends are all really nice, but they also feel like excuses for unnecessary exposition dumps. You don't need to explain everything right away. A little bit of vagueness goes a long way in catching the reader's interests.

That said, the last time I wrote a piece of fiction was during a forum RP thread when I was 14. I might not be the best authority on this kind of thing.

This is so widely agreed to the point that people are trying to contrive reasons as to why this won't happen.

Oh fuck, all this time I had forgotten that Oblivion started you off with no explanation.

After playing Skyrim for so long I got used to the "caught while sneaking into the country" origin.

That would be pretty great. It would make for a good, fitting ending, too, something kind of bittersweet. Katia gets caught or framed or on some racist Imperial's bad side, and gets thrown in jail. And the comic just ends there, with her sadder than ever in her cell. It's the kind of shitty ending that we were all about certain would happen at the end of this constant fuck-up's journey, and it's unrelentingly depressing, but at the same time you can't help but be overjoyed and happy and excited for her because, even if the series ends there and we never get to see her leave her cell, we know that she ends up out there growing stronger, having adventures and saving the world.
>>
>>81682356

The obvious thing would be to end the comic on the Dunmer in the cell across the hall from Katia talking shit to her.

>>
>>81682138
Okay so you know how tumblr is full of whiny bitches with made up problems who just want to be special snowflake princesses? Because being the victim is currently the cool thing?

That's because some of the people there actually had those real issues, people treated them carefully, and the princess brigade wanted to join in on the fun. Special treatment is great.

Cider is part of the original group. He's actually dealing with real issues that fuck people up.

>This is so widely agreed
No it isn't. Every time you motherfuckers bring this up you get a bunch of reasons why it makes no sense and you just say "oh but it makes sense"

She has telekinesis which isn't just player grab command as you can see in the flash games
She knows Quill-Weave, who doesn't give any recognition in game
It's strongly implied she levelled up in the ruins, using the same text as in game.

Just because Kaz can go against logical things doesn't mean he would. He tries to keep things as meta for the game as possible. Why would this be different?
>>
>>81682138
Depression.
>>
>>81682722

The way the comic goes it really wouldn't be out of place for Katia to lose her levels and powers and be wiped from everybody's memory at the end.
>>
I will likely graduate college before Prequel updates. At this rate I will start a career, impregnate a woman, steal a baby away to another country, conditionally raise it to pump out web comics about cat ladies, and read and reap three alternate stories before Prequel gets to the next chronological week.
>>
>>81682722
Nothing that can't be fixed with a dragon break.
>>
>>81682852
>it really wouldn't be out of place

Yeah it would, since it doesn't fit in with any of the game mechanics or even logic.

If anything Katia would be locked away in the imperial dungeon next to the cell with the CoC inside it

>>81682945
I don't think he's going to push it THAT far
>>
>>81683004

Sure it would fit with the logic, just piss off the right daedric lord and there you are.
>>
>>81682901
Funny you mention that, I already graduated between the last update and the upcoming one.
>>
>>81683040
the daedric lords can't just drop that kind of power into the world. There is a reason they act through proxies.
>>
>>81682722
>>81682727
Well, I personally like his stuff. Damn shame he's being weighed down by that stuff.

As for the ending, the arguments against the "she's the hero of kvatch" theory are generally small, circumstantial things. I think Kaz has set it up in a way that it could go either way without looking like a complete fake-out. It just depends on what kind of social experiment he wants to subject his readers to.

>>81683053
At this rate the Flash is going to end up being a High School graduation gift.

Hopefully I'll have less time to check up on this shit while I'm in College.
>>
>>81683163
No you'll have about the same amount of time.
>>
>>81683102

Then get a proxy to pull a Jagar Tharn and send the parties involved directly to Oblivion. Or get Katia to piss off Akatosh. Point is that if you have characters in a setting that are effectively omnipotent there only limited excuses for why things can't happen.
>>
>>81683163
>small, circumstantial things
These are precisely the things Kaz loves to mess with though

>The in-game typo for mercandise
>Sigrid abusing the Speechcraft minigame to raise Katia's disposition of her
>Katia learning the "manaless-telekinesis" grab command

>>81683307
See, the original thing he said was
>people are trying to contrive reasons as to why this won't happen
now all I am getting is people trying to contrive reasons as to why it WOULD. Other than pointing at the name, which is perfectly logical as "Prequel to Oblivion", what kind of logic says she would be the CoC?
>>
>>81683102
>convince Katia to complete a quest for a Daedric lord
>upon completion, place the reward 50 feet above Katia's head
>exploit ensuing concussion to frame her for a crime that would get her thrown in the Imperial prison

That sounds exactly like something Sheogorath would do.
>>
>>81683405
An easier explanation would be that Sheogorath's reward is stolen goods... which he gives to her right before an Imperial Guard on the look out for thieves happens by.
>>
>>81683395
>Sigrid abusing the Speechcraft minigame to raise Katia's disposition of her
when was this?
>>
>>81683524
Give me just a moment and I will find it for you.
>>
>>81683395
Sigrid wasn't using the speechcraft system though. Personality directly influences disposition, and she increased her personality to superhuman levels.

I'm agreeing with you on the circumstantial thing, though. Calling the arguments "contrived" may not have been the best choice, though. I just think the arguments pointing towards her being the protagonist of Oblivion proper have stronger support in the comic's narrative.

The only way we're going to settle this is when Kaz ends the comic.

or if someone gets him drunk enough to get him talking about it

Okay here it is

The last line is the thing to look at here - Katia obviously dislikes jokes and bragging in her minigame.

Sigrid used high personality, coupled with speechcraft minigame, coupled with the bonus from her bug musk to basically max out Katia's disposition.

>>81683632
>Sigrid wasn't using the speechcraft system though.

What if the imperial guard who escorted her to Kvatch is the one to arrest her?
What if she tries to explain herself?
What if the daedra or whatever else was responsible for her framing did a well enough job that she looks inexhaustibly 100% guilty?
What if she still tries to get Imperial bro to realize she's innocent even though she knows deep down there's no way any Imperial guard, even a nice enough one that she knew and even became kind of friends with, would ever take a known drunkard slut cat's word against evidence?
What if he pulls the old, soulless "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM" routine he mastered in basic training, but deep down he feels betrayed by who he thought was a law-abiding, well-meaning citizen and, perhaps, even friend?
What if when she isn't looking he sheds a single Imperial tear?
What if the "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM" scares Katia?
What if she cries?
What if she gets desperate and scared and turns to old habits, trying to persuade him with her body?

Asotil and the rest of the Imperial Legion are incapable of feeling any emotion aside from blind love and loyalty to the Empire.

Any attempts at manipulation, subversion, or seduction would be entirely useless.

unless their disposition is high enough
>>
>>81685310
I didn't mean to imply spoiler as an attempt to be lewd or even to imply that it would be a valid option. I think that, if that situation ever came to pass, Katia would, as a last resort, turn to that because that's what she's been doing for years and it's what he is best at-not making friends, not having high personality, not being an overpowered mage champion, but being "the slutty Hammerfell cat", even if she knows that it probably won't work and that it would kill any last reserves of respect Asotil had for her and worst of all, that it would destroy all self-respect and confidence she has managed to scrounge up since stepping onto that boat.

Thus the "feel train" jpg rather than a spoiled "bouncy cat tits" gif.
>>
>>81685522
I'm not saying seduction would ever be an option, I'm saying it's an actual mechanic that a guard with a high enough disposition will write off a character's crime so long as they didn't murder anyone.

That worked. Here's what I notice immediately:
1) The boobs seem distinctly separate from the body. They should blend in more and not be disjointed entities.
2) Her upper body is way too big in comparison to her arms/neck. If you were going for a beefier Katia, buff those arms up. But this is Katia, so she's a bit less muscled and shouldn't be so big.
3) It might be in part due to the big torso, but her head seems a little bit small. Maybe a tad bigger and it would be better.
4) The legs taper off a bit fast. She's got another pair of bones down there, not stubs!

That's about it, the actual head construction and hands/tail are good.

I hate how people say published writers suck just because they're published. /lit/ so is full of this.

Look at >>81698875
this is what suck looks like. It's okay to say 'it fails to live up to my expectation of what a published author should write like' but SK most definitely does not suck. Saying that just confused the hell out of everyone involved.
>>
>>81636114
I love this and I want the entire comic remade with Judge Dredd.
>>
>>81700534
Your post is extremely stupid. It sucks.

Because sucking is relative. SK sucks compared to good authors. Yeah, he's better than whoever wrote 50 Shades, but he's worse than many, many others.

Would you say that the earlier CoDs didn't suck just because there weren't many game breaking bugs? No. Just because many other, unprofessional devs made Slaughtering Grounds? No. You'd say it sucked, unless you were a pleb.

>>
>>81700697
True, quality is relative but if you do not say the 'for a published author' part you're basically demanding everyone to know the exact context you're referring to, which I think is stupid. If I handed you a few SK pages without you knowing who wrote them you'd say they're okay at worst so a statement like 'SK sucks' is more about how high your standards are that the content you're judging.

I like to imagine it would be written in the same style

A thousand alternatives. Narrative? Burning Wheel/better derivatives or FATE or Dungeon World. Simulation/Politics? Song of Swords or GURPS. Dungeon Crawling? Dungeon Crawl Classics. Light-hearted beer-and-pretzels? Pranoia.

And there's way, *way* more.

Where is it?

Do I have to make a proquest account? 'Cause I'm not going to do that.
>>
>>81704643
No, I actually just skimmed the page and thought it'd be there.

I'm sorry I wasted your time anon, it was in good faith.
>>
>>81703574
Thanks anon, that means a lot to me. Now I'm smiling like an idiot.

>>81704501
I've heard of 13th age along with the ones you mentioned but they've always sounded like buzzwords or startup names to me.
I've been DM a 5e campaign for almost a year now and I've stuck to 5e because
1) Brand Identity
2) Ready made adventures/campaigns
3) Very easy to pirate.

I don't mind the first two missing in a new system but the third is a must, I think that's why most people stick with PF/DnD

>>81704228
Should I bother getting into SK? I have not touched any books of his ever. Does he deserve a chance?
>>
>>81704946
>Does he deserve a chance?
Man, you should read everything everyone has ever written, ever
even twilight
that's how you create your own taste in stuff

maybe we're just assholes and stephen king is the best writer ever
or maybe he's just a mediocre writer that wrote some good stuff

in short most of his stuff is readable but nothing amazing

go read the stand, it's one of the good ones
>>

Large doesn't mean fat. Large is pretty common for males, particularly tall people, ectomorphs and mesomorphs.

It's when you get to XXL and above that you need to worry.
>>
>>81704946
You understand you can easily get PDFs of all the ones I mentioned, yes? Just look at sharethreads (and archives) on /tg/.

Besides, "I haven't heard of this thing before" is a horrible reason not to try something.

Otherwise you end up with D&D. Although 5e isn't bad.
>>81705044
Isn't the morph thing fake? I only know a few /fit/ memes by osmosis, though.
>>
>>81704946
>Does he deserve a chance?
Everyone deserves a chance

Try Christine or the Stand

Just keep an open mind so you can see what is good and what is shit. Don't abandon authors because you disliked a book of theirs, or claim everything they shit to be gold because you liked one.

>>81705110
It isn't fake, but it is in no way a perfect guide. People come in such a wild variety of forms and many do not fit into such "categories".
>>
>>81705025
>>81705281
Just downloaded the Stand, thanks anons. I tend to fret over what I read because I look at the sheer volume of things out there and think that only a tiny portion of them can be read in my lifetime, plus I've got this irrational fear of being negatively influenced by a book. I'll try to keep an open mind about it so I won't even read any reviews on it.
>>
>>81705607
What're you into? Presumably fantasy, in which case I can recommend the Worm Ouroboros too.
>>
I always admired Stephen king as a writer, not so much a story teller. He can describe characters, places, and events like nobody's business, but then you read things like IT and you see that he might not have thought of the ending first. As a sometimes writer, this infuriates me, because I ALWAYS think of the ending first. That's the part people leave on, damn it!

That being said, I do love Pet Cemetery and 11/22/63, give those a chance.

Kazerad is a cool person and a good writer too.

>Doesn't even spell it right

Nah I'm just joshin' you, you're good people, ya hear?
>>
>>81705716
Yeah, fantasy is what I'd call 'my thing'. I've been reading most of what appears on the top fantasy charts but I've never heard of this Worm Ouroboros and I wouldn't have read it otherwise since it has a low rating on goodreads. I just downloaded it regardless, taking your advice on being more open. /lit/ keeps telling me to check out this Gene Wolfe guy, what's your take on him?

>>81705890
I find Lovecraft to be like that, great buildup but a disappointing ending,
>>
>>81704146
So she's not even the busty slutcat I've thought she was?
>>
>>81706034
sorry anon, I'm trying to be a good writer, so I'm drinking at 3 pm. I really enjoyed the descriptive walk through the woods though, very scary.

>>81706058
Yeah, I would agree there. I've read a lot of his stuff, I don't think much of it was beyond "guy sees horror, is changed from then on". Not that I didn't enjoy it, just not many stories stuck with me.
>>
>>81706058
Goodreads has shit taste. Let me put it this way: both Tolkien and Le Guin fucking loved it, Tolkien saying it was one of his main inspirations.

It's one of the best fantasy books I've read. It's one of the earliest modern ones, too -- which leads to the thing that made the goodreaders give it such a low score. It's from the time when fantasy authors took all their inspiration from medieval sagas and Greek legends. So it's written in Shakespearian English. It works well, but it's still in Shakespearian English.

Wolfe's pretty good, although controversial. Definitely worth forming your own opinion on. You been to the /lit/ fantasy general?

that was shit though

I generally lurk around on /lit/ but like the SFF generals because I can feel less out of place there. Apart from the greeks, most of the books they're discussing sound alien to me. I can't make out if this Infinite Jest book is a meme or a genuinely good one, same with Gravity's rainbow, and asking about it only gets you meme'd harder.
>>
>>81706488
It's like...it's *like* Undertale. Whether or not they're good is up to you, but they're definitely /lit/erature at least. But whether or not they're THE BEST EVER is -- controversial.

I personally haven't read either just because it's not my thing. I'm like you, in that right now I'm mostly reading SF/F and historical texts as well as political non-fiction.

The only fitting end.

They've got to be fairly substantial, at least C cup, if she's been so proficient at getting men to buy her drinks in Hammerfell.
