Endtown has always been light comedy mixed with harsh post apocaliptic nightmares. It's done drama a number of times, and unlike B^U, a miscarriage wouldnt be a wtf out of nowhere moment, it would be the crushing denoument to a legacy of tragedy.
So... the first story line was about a couple trying to cope with the fact one of them had been turned into a rhino person. She drives the entire plot rightfully and has a sense of self-discovery by the end of it.
Second storyline introduces Wally and Holly and the conflict eventually arises from the head of Endtown's security, a woman, trying to hate-fuck the entire world over in a fit of revenge, plus that stupid Dr. Who Wannabe is introduced, and stupid-oh-god-why-is-it-here time travel bullshit is used as a deus ex to result in Endtown's creation. I hated this conclusion so much, but I digress.
Following this, a newly koala'd woman is introduced to Endtown, tries to do something nice for an old codger and it brings down massive hate and prejudice upon her and the people around her, and THAT explodes into a politically driven race crisis.
Holly and Wally bail this scene --due to her prompting--leading into the next storyline where a super manipulative bitch ruins the life of her boyfriend, literally driving him to become murderously insane and tries to take over a lizard colony of racist, elitist scumbags, only for the entire place to be nuked from orbit. Holly is shown up to be less resourceful and more badly impetuous than before.
And now we've been for the past few months watching her character who was for YEARS defined by her pluck and enduring nature not only suffer from a slow mental decline, be revealed to have been a snooty stuck up rich woman from Before the Bomb, who is probably drinking her pregnancy to death, who killed people by accident due to her being deluded into thinking smart bombs were a great security device to protect her from those Poors.
...Am I the only one noticing this? Wally is certainly an exception to "Only women suffer in this comic" and the worst, most unrepentant character is that rabbit asshole who's trying to take over Endtown, but...this is getting uncomfortable.

So, I did it, I finally decided to check this thing... after two days of going throught something like 6 years of updates, Im finally done...
I will be honest to you guys, this thing is kinda good, but having cute little furries and constantly going from light humor to horror fuel is kinda distracting, don't know, having them turn into animals kinda opens some new ways for social commentary, like the author is doing with the... "racist" rabbit and the lizards in Unity, but it kinda loses some impact with them being animals to... still good just my personal opinion.
Anyway, I kinda got annoyed with the Rhino girl but I was happy for her at the end, Wally not killing anyone was kind of frustrating but now I see where he is coming from, Flask was kinda retarded but she had a point, still crazy and violent, the Doctor Who-Willy Wonka guy... eh? I was siding with the points of the lizards in Unity until they said that the embryos mutate at random, which made their entire goal impossible, fuck Sarah, Holly started acting really weird with the Clive stuff, felt kinda weird to see her like that but I guess we will see what is going on with her later on, Topsiders are kinda like the Enclave rgiht? all that using-braind-for-toaters thing is not that efficient from my point of view, seems like they are doing stuff more for hate than for survival...

Marx... It was bugging me, so I tried to work out exactly what's been ripped from Doctor Who to make him, and so far I'm seeing that:
He has the First Doctor's "I know what's best for everyone" attitude.
He has the Second Doctor's appearance (pic for comparison).
He has the Third Doctor's hypnosis trick (minus the mangled "alien" version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen).
He has the Fourth Doctor's tendency to act like an aloof, distant clown.

I've heard he was a character Neathery imported from something he did ages back when he was a lot younger, before Endtown, so, what with the bit where he visits Endtown and geeks out, I'd assume he was a bit of a self-insert created when the man was an impressionable young Who fan and ill-advisedly imported into the Endtown comic for the sake of author appeal.

Basically, Aaron Marx is this character that appears in all of Neathery's works, the first one he created IIRC (hence the first name, probably a self-insert at first), whose thing is being able to hop between stories and act as a "spanner in the works". More than a Dr. Who rip-off (even if he totally is now) he was a cartoon character that did wacky things no matter the tone of the setting.
From Aaron's point of view, Marx didn't suddenly appear in Endtown's adventure but the other way around since Marx has been a thing for much longer. If you had somehow followed Aaron before Endtown it wouldn't have been surprsing to see him. In fact, he was originally make a comic focused on Marx before he decided to do Endtown instead, he evn made some pages beore scrapping the idea.
Al and Gustine are also pre-existing characters that were re-used in Endtown. Endtown starts as a continuation from where their previous story ended (a school newspaper comic) and a conclusion for it. Jacob Jackrabbit and Mallard are pretty much in the same boat. He seems to be going the same route with Marx too as he's going to play a big role later on as the personal enemy to Endtown's yet-to-be-properly-introduced Big Bad,"I" or "Eye", who's responsible for Jim's powers and Wally's dream and, according to Aaron, pretty much everything else.

Most of the characters that have died, we saw them do so. Most were vaporized right in front of us. Flask had a fucking gun explode in her face and fell to her death. Only other character besides Sarah that we didn't for sure see die, was Sparkplug. He fell like several hundred feet. So unless he fell into a mattress factory, we know he probably died. But even that isn't a given.

I was wondering about something similar, though: Perhaps it'll eventually be revealed that no mutant is technically responsible for the actions of their human selves, because they are literally not the same people - instead of merely transforming people, the virus kills them, rips their memories, uses their bodies as building material for a monster/anthro and then copies the memories of the host back across. This could explain the mutation amnesia and the "holes" in mutant awareness - they're not perfect copies.
