Filoni says he is happy there are so many optimists that believe she is alive because of that last shot of her. But it's not an absolute in the slightest.
I personally believe that Filoni intends for this to be Ahsoka's end. He knows what happened to her. As far as Vader is concerned, she is dead. The rest of us don't get closure. That's how it is.

If she's a vision the only thing the vision is showing you is that she's alive (oops!). As for two exploring the temple, the temple EXPLODED. She's traveling underground. There were three Inquisitors on that planet and Maul only stole one of their TIEs.

Filoni put an emphasis on the light-dark/underworld-overworld of the last episode.
Maul was waiting for an opportunity to leave and rose to the overworld, Ahsoka lost her opportunity to kill Vader and descended to the underworld in Exile like Maul.
I don't think Ahsoka is dead, but I don't think we'll ever see her again, she realises that to stay with the rebels would draw Vader to her. So she stays in the temple in self imposed exile until the force presents an opportunity.

I'd believe that if it weren't for Darth Maul carrying an Inquisitor lightsaber. That to me implies the Inquisition's been after him for a while. If Maul had been on Malachor this whole time killing every Inquisitor that came, I think Vader would've came a long time ago.

Most plausible theory is that she lived along with everyone else. Maul survived the explosion and escaped with the Inquisitor's TIE after the Phantom got back to base. Vader survived and had a minor enough limp. Mortis lured them in with an ancient Jedi Distress signal that was stated to be 2000 years old. Tarkin novel states that 1000 years ago the Sith were supposedly rendered extinct. This was the last galaxy wide war since the formation of the Republic (according to that minister on Naboo). After the sith/jedi wars the republic reformed itself into it's current state that had lasted 1000 years (the Republic as a political state has existed far longer, but 1000 years ago it saw it's transformation into an incarnation that lasted until the declaration of the Empire).
So 2000 years ago the Sith and Jedi were still at each other's throats. Super weapons were deployed according to Yoda. Malachor had one such weapon.
Basically this means it's conceivable that the Mortis stuff, if it was real, was based on Jedi/Sith architecture from that same time period as Malachor's temple. Or just looked like it if it was a vision and drawing from their own ancient legends.

Lucas DEFINITELY cared about Star Wars a lot. It's why he made unpopular decisions: he believed it was genuinely important to put his artistic vision out there and complete the story.
It's also why The Clone Wars looked absolutely gorgeous in the later seasons: Lucas was willing to blow a million dollars an episode to ensure that each story got the production quality it deserved.

But Sabine was inspired to paint those symbols by a painter using his art to protest the Empire. The Empire stopped him but why did they do that? Luke is horrified to learn his dad is Vader. Somehow after he starts to think that his dad is still good. When did he start sensing the good in his dad? When he learned what kind of man his dad really. Not the childlike worship of the Knight he thought Anakin was from what little Ben told him but the true man himself. He had to learn about Anakin Skywalker. Ben could tell him but Obi-Wan is trying to steer him away from sentiment and surely wouldn't feed it.
No. There is another source. The Fore leads Luke to Ahsoka. She tells him of the man Anakin was. It's these stories that allow him to see beneath the darkness of Vader to what is left of Anakin inside the black armor. She also completes Luke's training which is why Yoda says he doesn't need to learn anymore.
Where did Luke gain his green crystal? Not from Obi-Wan, both he (briefly thanks to Boba Fett) and Vader searched the place. No, he got the crystal from Ahsoka. It's from her original green saber which she doesn't use now that she has her white ones.
Ahsoka plays the fulcrum again, the point upon which the galaxy pivots. It is her love and Luke's that save's Anakin, and her saber crystal that defeats Vader and provides the crucial reminder to Luke how he has an artificial limb like his father, that he could easily become Vader, that makes him deny the Emperor victory.

Even still, Kanan's shown a better degree of Technique than Luke did in ROTJ. And Vader's heart not being in the fight is entirely why Luke came out on top. Not because of Luke's martial prowess, or the lack thereof to be more accurate. If Vader wanted to kill Luke, he'd have done so easily.

That's a certain point of view. If Vader's heart wasn't in the fight he wouldn't have needed to wait until the last minute to kill the Emperor. The pivotal moment is that until Anakin makes the choice to save Luke he is still the Dark Lord of the Sith.
Luke won because he tasted the Dark Side, gave in to his pain, his fear, and his anger, and his hatred. That's why when Luke sees Vader's ravaged hand, the reminder of how alike he is to his father, Luke pulls back.

And yet it did. The goodness inside Vader wasn't strong enough to act to help Luke until Luke's life was nearly extinguished.
He wasn't trying to commit suicide via his son. He wasn't 86% good again only for Luke to push him the rest of the way. For that scene where Vader finally dies and Anakin is reborn to have full merit you have to truly believe that Vader is still capable of letting Luke die. Otherwise you dull the impact of that scene. Luke didn't defeat Vader he just beat the shit out of his dad who was actually starting to be won over to Luke's side. And that's a fucked up frame of reference, anon.
