So did our hero just decide, "sure ill fuck a pure breed cat like the nazi cat wanted even though he killed several "impure" cats"
>>
>>81252897

It was more that he rejects Claudandus' overall worldview, not that he rejected the "felidae" themselves. Unlike Claudandus, Francis saw value in all life, including those of the humans and lesser cats.

That's the one. It's also horribly grisly, the scarier segments of the movie depict TRIGGER WARNING experiments on cats, probing in the skull, detailed disemboweling TRIGGER WARNING that's pretty unsettling to see if you like cats.

Make your guts strong before watching. It's a great movie, well animated, and the weird story has its own charm.

I like that both of them are slightly off by cat standards having picked up on different human morals and understanding them better than the average cat who can't really tell why someone would bother to investigate a murder.

That and the old disney trope of "animals using technology for a visual gag" getting used to foreshadow the fact that they're actually growing more sapient.

>>
In my country this movie was marketed as a child cartoon, with harmless "The Adventure of Cat Detective" title and description on the back of the VHS case that didn't in any way imply what sort of shit awaits poor children. Still, it fun. Need to rewatch it now, I bet the plot is gonna make a lot more sense now.

>>81252737
I really liked the book.
far too often, when books are translated, they fall into a generic boring "standard german". For this book, you really feel that it was written in german, not translated, which is just really nice and refreshing.
>>
>>81252737
No-one is.
>>
I never realised they made an animated film.
I don't think I could ever watch it. My imagination was plenty capable for the book.

I read the book as a child/young teenager and dear god I was horrified by it. I think my mther got the book out of the library thinking it was a nice cat detective story XD
>>
I don't remember the part about abortions.
>>
>>81259180
well, if you want to use selective breeding to establish a master race, you're going to have to break some eggs.
Especially if some people don't follow your plans and can't keep it in their cat pants.
>>
>>81259245
I'm going to have to rewatch it. I hardly remember the plot at all since I was still distracted about wtf I was watching in the first place, so maybe I can focus better a second time.
>>
I read that shit xears ago. Don't remeber much of the plot.

The only thing I remember is that in the second book the villain is a cat that rides a dog like a knight.

There's also a comic book version of Felidae with a different fucked up dream sequence.

I think I only have it in german, though.
>>
>>81260064
from the book, I remember there are at least two, though I only remember that one where the old cat is riding the bike, pulling fetuses out of his bleeding neck.
iirc there is one dream for each murder.
>>
>>81260064
You mean a comicbook based on the books, or was it adapted from the movie? Can you post any pages?

>>81259442
Oh shit, I didn't know this stuff about the author. That's interesting.
>>
>>81260120
The flying fetus dream sequence is depicted in the comic book.
>>
>>81259442
but why.
he spends the entirety of felidae fighting literally /pol/, only to make a 180° in real life?
>>
>>81260486
Because it's CURRENT YEAR. A lot of Europeans have gone on the same political journey.

Seriously, I don't know what's happening in America but in Europe people are turning right at an alarming speed. I've been a leftist most of my life but frankly, the fact the European left is more concerned with protecting the rights of insane religious fundamentalists (but only if they're brown) than protecting a secular rational and liberal Europe FROM such people is almost enough to make me go full /pol/.
>>
>>81260186
>>81260064
I used to have this comic (in German) but I seem to have lost it. What a shame, it was good.
>>
>>81260762
I'm really not worried about terrorists or anything.
what worries ME the most is that the further out you go from central europe, the more corrupt the politicians get, while simultaneously also getting more powerful.
Germany's goverment might be impotent, but they're honest. Any country that's bordering on the mediterranean sea is just a cesspit of corruption that's betraying the basic idea of cooperation.
>>
>>81253398

Thanks for the offer but it's okay, I can use google translate for the words I can't recognize instead of bothering others. From my experience, that can be a surprisingly useful way of reading comics anyway. As a kid I used to read some English comics with a dictionary by my side, and it helped me improve my English grades at school. I've been thinking of doing the same thing with German comics and trying to re-learn the language.

That scene shocked me so badly when I first saw the movie. I was totally expecting her to be the love interest who'd end up by Francis' side when the movie ends. Maybe even worse than the death itself was the whole decapitation thing; the idea of beheading just horrifies and repulses me so badly.

Really nice work with the expressions; his despair is palpable.

Also, I find it interesting how these character designs are fairly similar to the ones in the movie but not identical. Francis' different looks are pretty noticeable, and I kinda like Kong's design in this comic better. In the movie he had this huge square jaw that looked a little too exaggerated for my tastes.

Thanks for the storytime, it was great to see this comic. The lineart was gorgeous and I liked the way coloring was done, the color hues established the mood of different scenes really nicely. Also, it was interesting how some things were done differently when compared to the movie's take on them.

Did your scan have pages "FELIDAE_COMICBUDERL_002" or "004"? They weren't included in the storytime, so I'm wondering if they were just empty/nonexistent pages, or if there was any content that got skipped over.

I doubt he's being sincere. If he actually cared about fighting radical islam he'd do it in Turkey, his native country, a country that is actually threatened by islamization.

Of course that would mean he'd be facing actually adversity and might actually be at odds with the turkish government which is why he's doing it in Germany where the worst that could happen to him is being criticized by some talking head in a newspaper.

It's kinda funny because he compared himself and the organization called Pegida (Which, in a time where there are literally hundreds of terrorist attacks on German refugee shelter I can't help but view as a terrorist organization) with prisoners in the concentration camps of the Third Reich. Which is ironic, seeing how a group that openly opposes our values like them can only exist in a country that values freedom of speech like Germany does.

If those goons were to protest in Russia, holding up a sign with a noose on it, saying "Reserved for Vladimir Putin" they'd be arrested in no time. Yet they still act like they are some sort of repressed minority, where they are really just a bunch of entitled, middle-class manchildren who endanger the moral foundations of this country more than islamists could currently even hope to.

Did you hear what happened in Belgium about a week ago? Or in France last year? Radical islam is already in Europe. This is the time to have an open discussion about religious fundamentalism, how it should be confronted, and what will it mean for Europe's future.
If Pirincci migrated to Germany when he was ten years old and has stayed in the country since then, he might just consider himself more a German than a Turk anyway. Your argument that he should go to Turkey sounds like the same kind of "go back to [country x]" nationalist logic that you seem to be against.

But this is not the place for this shit so go to /pol/ if you feel like continuing this discussion.

Oh, I do believe that islamism is a festering problem that has been ignored for far too long, it'd never occur to me to claim anything else. Backgrounds: John Yee
Inking and colors: Patrice Szewczyk
Storyboard: Matthias Lechner
Lettering: Volker Hamann
Based on the book by Akif Pirincci and the movie Felidae, a Senator Film production.

So the comic is an amalgam of both movie and book and the movie production house has the rights for this comic.

Yes, that looks acceptable. I find it's a font that works well with many European comics anyway.

Placement is good and the speech bubbles were cleaned up very neatly without looking too sterile.

Here's some very high level nitpicking on the language, it boils down to personal taste so don't freak.

I would have translated it "this damn house" instead of "this stupid house" for the double meaning as mild annoyed expletive or the spooky meaning. It's also the direct translation, just don't write "damned" so it won't come off as stilted dialogue.

Instead of:
"But if I'd guessed what was waiting for me here.."
I'd suggest:
"But had I guessed what was awaiting me here..."

It's actually pretty good, though nobody knows who made up the English cast at all

Feel free to post more corrections as I go along, I'll address them after I've done everything. But for now:

>this damn house
I'll probably go with this.

>had I guessed [...] awaiting...
I'll probably change this, but I wouldn't use "awaiting" because it sounds too stilted. Not insanely so in the context, since it's supposed to be sort of an "artful narrator introduction" kind of scene. But it's not something one would use in every day speech, so it sounds a bit odd coming from Francis' mouth.

Francis has a bit of an insufferable aura about him, so him talking in a bit of a stilted manner in his narration isn't too out of character.

I spent WAY too much time on this.

That anon's suggestion about "this damn house" was pretty good. The movie uses quite a lot of explicit language (its dialogue featured words like bullshit, goddamned, hell, bastard, etc). So if you want to aim for the movie's tone, you don't need to soften the swearwords in the translation.

The movie did it better. The final speech from Claudandus was priceless.

>look at me now
>what you see, Francis, is evil
>yet once I was... good
