Is this a good comic series? Should I read it?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman:_Red_Son
>>
Super red Man son?
>>
>>81166850
No:
>Superman: Red Son
You must learn how to read on cyrillic.
>>
>>81166772

Absolutely read it
>>
>>81166772
It's just Elseworld. It won't kill you if you read it. Personally, I find ending shitty.
>>
>>81166893
Why?
>>
I think it's overrated. The ending should have been Kal-L landing in Kansas instead of Russia again. It was kinda dumb.
>>
>>81166913
I'm not surprised the end is shitty.
It's a shot story, it would not have a great final.
>>
One of the top 3 best elseworlds of all time, IMO. Required reading.
>>
>>81166961
I'm not going to read SPOILERS.
>>
I really enjoyed it though it is overrated, a few things are...stupid, but a fun thought experiment nontheless.
>>
>>81166913
>>81166984

The ending is fine for an elseworlds

it's just not a "status quo" thing
>>
One of the few good books Millar wrote.

Some bad parts though.
>>
>>81167066
>a "status quo" thing
???
>>
Read it because I told you to.
>>
>>81167120
>implying Millar hasn't done more good than bad
Quit reading *about* comics on /co/, and start reading more comics.
>>
>>81166772
No, you shouldn't read it
>>
>>81167751
Why?
>>
>>81167429
That's exactly what he should be implying because it is 100% true
>>
>>81166881
HФКДУ TФVДЯISCH!
>>
>>81166772
Its a fun ride, just don't take the whole "the world would be a utopia with communism" thing seriously
>>
Its like a 6.5/10, you might enjoy it
>>
Great story, liked it very much.
>>
>>81168421
>don't take the whole "the world would be a utopia with communism" thing seriously

We will never know the unparalleled joy and peace of Commie Supes absolute rule.

You can't fathom how long I've waited for a legitimate reason to post this.
>>
>>81168421
>"the world would be a utopia with communism"
And there is such a thing in this comic?
>>
>>81168319
Millar is more 50/50 than anything else. Saying he's only written a few good things is misrepresenting it.
>>
Who is Manson? And why is he super red?
>>
>>81168421
The whole world would be a utopia with communism AND SUPERMAN FIXING EVERYTHING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT.

With the perfect man in charge of everything fixing everything manually and solving every problem instantly even an Amish-Fascist-vegetarian-Muslim world is a utopia.
>>
>>81166772
looks like pinko bullshit to me, you're not a commie are you?
>>
>>81168690
>pinko
???
>>
>>81168724
commie sympathizer
>>
>>81168690
No, I'm not.
I was socialist in the past, I'm not anymore either.
>>
just read it it will take you the whole of one afternoon

its just an elseworlds why do people feel the need to ask /co/s permission to read things

im sorry op nevermind that

i think its real fun and strong conceptually with lots of cool art
>>
>>81167429
What other good stuff has Millar written, enlightened one?
>>
>>81168887
Swamp Thing (especially the Curt Swan issue)
The Flash (you probably have some excuse for this)
Superman Adventures (not the same thing as The Adventures of Superman, just fyibtwtbh)
The Authority (much better than Ellis if I'm being honest here)
The Ultimates (I will be really disappointed if you choose to ignore the rest of my post just because you disagree with this one)
Superior (I'm surprised it's not a movie already)
Jupiter's Legacy/Circle (but, to be fair, who can say no to this artwork?)
Starlight (ditto)
MPH (more Flash)
Huck (though to be honest, I'm disappointed in him because X Meets Y mashups are almost always lazy ideas)
>>
>>81168421
Communism is perfect in theory, it just fails when you bring in the human factor. It could work with a completely selfless being like Supes in charge. I actually hated how in the end he realizes Communism is wrong and the Americans win in the end. Almost felt like it defeated the entire purpose of the story it was trying to tell.

>swamp thing
Ghost written by Morrison
>Flash
See above
>Authority
So edgy xD
>Ultimates
See above
>Huck
bland and just another movie script

Haven't read the rest
>>
>>81169148
>>81169578
>Superman adventures
This was great though.
>>
Someone jus storytime
>>
>>81169168
>spoiler
This desu
It's a decent story but it doesn't really feel like it has a point other than "communism is bad to the point that communism under Superman is going to be far worse than capitalism under Lex Luthor".
>>
>>81169578
>Haven't read the rest
I doubt you've even read those.
>>
Read Multiversity mastermen instead.
Nazi Superman>Commie Supermen
>>
>>81169900
Nazi does not have it's own series!
>>
>>81169861
Someone doesn't agree with me. He mustn't have read Millar comics. Unlike Millar fans, I understood Millar was shit earlier. Admit it, he has nothing great post Morrison.
>>
>>81169168
>>81169746

Why don't you put the whole world in a spoiler, anon?

It seems to me it was less about ideology and more that Superman was forced to confront that he himself was the problem. He realized he was wrong to impose his will on the world, regardless of whether or not it would've improved things.

It wasn't about whether communism is right or wrong, but whether the characters are.

In the end feel that Lex was right, but for the wrong reasons, and Superman was wrong, but for the right reasons.[/spoilers] That's how I saw it, at least.
>>
>>81169929
That issue was pretty great though, and better than Red Son, which is just decent at best. It's what Red Son should've been.
>>
>>81170096
>Admit it, he has nothing great post Morrison.
You claim that you haven't read the rest, but you're making claims about their quality.

You have proven yourself to be untrustworthy.
>>
>>81170198
Issue?
What is the problem?
>>
>>81170219
You expect me to continue after shit like unfunnies, trouble, Civil war and wanted?
>>
>>81170303
Your reading comprehension
>>
>>81170436
I expect you to not make claims about comics that you haven't read. But you fail at that, so you cannot be trusted.

Oh well, life goes on. I'm sure you'll learn nothing and you'll complain about those comics in the next Millar thread too.
>>
>>81168656
He's written far more awful things than good
