>Batman vs. Superman: A disappointment for superhero movies
Uriel Barco
>Under pressure he meant watching all the films of Cinematic Universe Marvel tear World box office, Warner Bros. decided it was time to face the competition and start their own series of interconnected tapes.
>Only instead of creating films dedicated to each character in order to reach another that will bring together all the study preferred that the sequel to The Man of Steel was an introductory tape other superheroes of DC Comics , including Batman and Wonder Woman , and also serve as a prelude to the justice league .
>Many feared that this decision did the sequel, Batman vs. Superman: The origin of justice , saturated characters and storylines filled with inconsistencies film. However, several were confident capabilities Zack Snyder , director of this and the man of steel , and screenwriter Chris Terrio , Oscar winner for Argo , to take forward such a difficult and controversial project.
>Unfortunately suspicions were met and Batman vs. Superman is not only a capital disappointment in absolutely every way, but also invites us to think that the Universe Extended DC is doomed to follow a similar path.
>After mass destruction in Metropolis view Man of Steel , the world is divided between those who accept and reject Superman ( Henry Cavill ). Within last figure Bruce Wayne ( Ben Affleck ), who actually witnessed the catastrophic events that occurred in that city.

Clearly Warner Bros., before the split response he received the Man of Steel , appealed to him for the sake of his budding film universe was soaked all comiqueras sensitivities that met the fans unhappy with the relaunch of Superman.
>But in doing so the study did not find that what works in cartoons will not necessarily when translated to film live-action .
>Batman vs. Superman is rife with narrative gratuitousness designed for the sole purpose of competing against Marvel. Exposing characters absent and the only interest is hurriedly preparing the ground for the eventual arrival of the first part of the Justice League in 2017.
>The funny thing is that Snyder and Terrio are clear that the tone is the key to differentiate the Universe Extended DC of Cinematic Universe Marvel , but it is a desire that, coupled with the prospect comics and decisions Johns, makes Batman vs Superman erratic product unable to provide personality, let alone logic, its narrative arcs .
>They are worthless almost three hours long and the pace leisurely intended to give exposure, if in the end every argument peak is shown increasing free and fantasist the previous.
>Batman vs Superman meets every conflict and knot with the most basic imaginable lines of dialogue and wants his audience and accept the evolution of the plot. Inclusive is impossible not to laugh out loud before the confrontation holder when so hasty and absurd it is concluded form is observed.
>While The Man of Steel is a film concerned about staying in a realistic sci-fi with speech , this sequel is shown permissive at every opportunity that presents itself .

2nd review, way less pissed off
Oscar Uriel (what's with the Uriels?)
>We have good and bad news in this line. How about if we start with the benevolent? Zack Snyder delivers an epic superhero whose result is much better than the fateful Man Of Steel ( Man of Steel ) trying to expose the progressive antagonism between the Murcielago Gotham City (Ben Affleck) and the last Son of Krypton (Henry Cavill) which it seems born of the inconclusive battle sequences and destruction seen in the last tape Snyder. The writers used the strident (and trivial) outcome to suggest the point of view of Batman with respect to the devastation of the city and those responsible for this. Who is that man in the sky can generate such chaos?
>As reported, Snyder appropriated some basics of the graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller to create this film but in the end is a personal version of the contest between these two superheroes with the characteristic style that has differentiated the director on his films and which has polarized opinions.
>Of course the battle scenes abound and devastation also peculiar tempo singles Snyder (a sleepy first hour, an hour and a half remaining crowded) but towards the end you can perceive a chaotic but suggestive film. This section also merita mention the presence of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman - enigmatic character which we know little but who joins the final battle with our protagonists in comfort - and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, the faithful steward Bruce Wayne in a different approach to what we are used to seeing with this character.
>Now, let the miscues. It gives the impression that studio executives were concerned about the possibility of making this film at the point of throwing all the cinematic universe of DC Comics ahead. There is a constant feeling that the audience should be receiving essential communication which upcoming storylines so crowded reference tape warns will arise.
cont.
>>80987321
Did you not see that he gave Zoolander 2 an 8.5
His review should have been discarded from the start.
>>80987318
>one must be naive enough to believe that Gal Gadot has the poise and physique requires Wonder Woman
>>80987369
cont.
>Ben Affleck is also an uncertain election. It is not news the wave of criticism that led to the selection of the actor in social networks so we reported that these were not entirely ill - founded. His approach lacks precision and a contudente identity. Even worse is the intervention of Jesse Eisenberg as the villain Lex Luthor in a performance totally out of tune with the proposals of the director and the rest of the cast. This is a drawback if we consider that is the only real antagonist of the plot.
>At the end Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice results in a jarring experience of two hours and a half. There are successes but also mistakes, but I warn you that is superior to that fateful film called The Man Of Steel .
The end

AoU was an over-ambitious mess with far too many characters, too many plot points and honestly not enough time to give it all proper weight.
But it was bright, it was fun and it was a decent watch after all.
These critics sound like BvS just isn't fun, pleasant to watch, gripping or well directed.
Not to mention the casting choices, especially in case of WW.
>>80993676
It almost certainly isn't as bad as initial reaction says it is. That said, I think they started making this too soon after TDKR shit the bed. This was made as a reaction to catch up, instead of just making a good movie. Even with Marvel's declining quality, they're still riding hard on the momentum of several of their movies and DC should have accepted that they beat them to the punch and rode the momentum with them rather than trying to scramble to catch up.

>Horribly scarred both inside and out, Ben Affleck’s grey-templed Darkest Knight is so morally burned out that he not only subdues foes, but tortures and brands them like cattle. His dreams are plagued by screeching, man-sized bats. Not even the very pleasant water feature in his lakeside cave cheers him up. There’s nothing wrong with a little angst, but here it’s doubled down: pitting him against an insecure and self-doubting Superman, Zack Snyder’s movie is a spectacle that proves heavy on visual pizzazz but markedly light on fun.

Here's the thing. I agree that Routh's Superman was really kind of wooden in his performance. But Routh wasn't just playing Superman. He also played the whole mild-mannered Clark Kent thing and I and others think he did it surprisingly well.
Whereas, frankly, Cavill was just as wooden (Not is fault. He's charismatic as hell, but Snyder isn't gerat about directing his actors and other his movies suffer this in varying degrees). But Cavill didn't have anyone else to play except that one somber and kind of wooden character. Hell, he only seems to feel anything approaching emotion a handful of times in the movie.
He's sad twice (Zod's death, Jonathan's death. And these are just melodramatic big NOOOOs). He's happy like, once, (Flight scene) and he's angry once (saving his mom from Kryptonians) and that's it. The rest is just a grey vaguely sad puppy look for two and a half hours.

If any performance was stymied by being wed to the Donner movies it was his. That speech he gives about how real heroes don't lord their tech over humanity and how he wants to be promethus stealing fire from the gods? That should've been his characterization for the entire movie. I want THAT Luthor. Not Hackman. Not Zuckerberg.

As I said in the /tv/ thread you or someone very much like you made already, I have nothing to apologize for. I've always liked his movies. They're "dark" but they're usually kind of fun in their own unique way. It's not his fault or mine that WB is full of havks who tried to copy his style for the rest of their JL members.
In fact, I might just rewatch the Dark Knight instead of disappointing myself more with this BS. Catch it when it's available for rental. Or torrent.
What if Miller is brought on to direct Justice League?
Also Snyder's vision raped DCEU to maybe the point of no salvaging
>Mopey Superman
>Murderous Batman
>New age inelegant Lex Luthor
>Exotic Wonder Woman (actress who can't fucking act)
>These are not comic book characters, they're modern Jesus and Gods (Can't accept the fact that I defended this choice)
YO I HEARD LEX LUTHOR PEES IN SOMEONES DRINK IN THIS MOVIE THATS WEIRD
You can still salvage this WB. FIRE SNYDER! FIRE HIM! REEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I just want variety, man!
Everything both sides do is built on what they've done in the past already. Regardless of if it was good. It's not just eating shit, it's repeatedly saying doses of it and not picking it out of your teeth first.
Every marvel movie is just avengers, and now every DC movie will be man of steel. I want to feel a difference. I want to see a movie and say "This feels like a spiderman movie, and is noticeably different than civil war." Or "This feels like a Flash movie, and is noticeably different than BvS."
But I guarantee by next year I won't be able to remember if I saw a scene with iron man and cap in avengers or civil war

So BvS is at 39% on RT

>>81001192
>No. It was literally the most boring movie of 2006. Not even in a "so bad it's good" way. Not talking about MoS either.
Fundamentally it wasn't bad movie. Average acting, safe script. Everything was average. Man of Murder was just bad.
>>81001551
Depends what the box office looks like. That's what ultimately decides the fate of a franchise. If that fails as well, then DC might pull a Sony and reboot the universe, cancelling all other plans.

52 is a decent sample set size. Sure you prefer 200, but if you have to work with 52, you can do a lot of things. The only thing you really have to worry about is sampling bias, but it's hard to imagine how quickness of review would yield a bias towards negativity.

Iron Manlet, Captunamerica: Not muh Bucky, and Ant-Man (sorta) were pretty dark for a MCU movie, and had really few jokes (because thinking jokes = quips is damn stupid and overgeneralizes plenty of stuff that other, better movies do).
However, read exactly what those reviews are saying.
They complain that outside the action parts, the movie had too much sideplots (like AoQuiptron), was trying too hard sometimes, and went WAY too over the grim part (no jokes, not fun for everyone)

There's going to be thousands of people who are so hyped for it, they're going to go out and see it, and they'll say they loved it, and they don't know what on earth the critics are complaining about.
It happened with Phantom Menace a whole lot. Lots of Star Wars fans said they loved it when they first saw it, only to slowly pull their heads out of their asses as the years passed.

>>81002637
Not really. Unlike the Snyderverse, none of those games are pointlessly grimdark.
I replayed FF7 for the first time since I was a kid a few months ago and I was surprised at how goofy a lot of it was.
>>81002515
Yeah, this.
And yeah, the writing was on the wall for this one. A massively bloated 2:30 hrs movie by a director who is certified not a good storyteller, written by the dude who wrote MoS and rewritten during production, while they kept adding more and more characters? I mean, c'mon. Everyone should've known.
These reviews, man. I don't know what to say. The movie might not even be that bad given the context of the majority of the reviews, but they will hurt the movie nonetheless.
This scenario reminds me of The Lone Ranger (2013 film), starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. The movie had it's flaws, to be fair, but it was still a fun and exciting movie. But because of the controversy behind Depp playing an Indian and whatever else there was about it the critic went savagely on the movie ahead of it's release. They were brutal in their reviews and in the end the public were swayed by the reviews and the buzz the bad press generated on the news and internet. The movie was a total bomb because of it.
I fucking liked that movie, man.
This shit will certainly hurt the movie gross. Pray for China.

Also upon rewatch, Superman Returns is still not very good. I know critics hated MoS, but claiming Returns was misunderstood greatness was too much.

I feel bad for my no-homo crush Cavill, because I think he could do an okay Superman if he got better direction.

But John Carter was terrible

>Batman v Superman
>not a court case
Lame
>>81003030
I feel similarly about my husbando Batfleck.
>>81003061
You shut your whore-mouth. Shit was pure adventure. Felt like a good Indiana Jones movie.
>>81002427
As a DC fan growing up, I don't. The fact that these retards will so willingly eat shit if it's made by their precious company makes me feel good about dropping Big Two comics as a whole.Still read Valiant and Image.
>>81002465
A 75% isn't great, dude. It's a C at best.
>>81003027
I'll obviously watch it as I've disagreed with critics before (TFA has a 90% on RT or something right), I just don't know what I'll do if the DCEU stops
It was looking like the only promising superhero film universe to me. Oh well, I guess I'd just retract back to the comics;_;
>there will never be a good live action Superman/Batman crossover
>>81003190
They might as well stick with animated. I guess Marvel really wins in the Cinematic part.

Who was reviewing the movie, alejandro inarritu?
>>81003177
A C is still a passing grade. A 40% is an outright fail, not even suitable for an okay time.
>>81003275
Not sure you understand the context, friend. Anon said critics were calling AoU great when they weren't. They were calling it acceptable.
Those are very different things.

Movies get shelved all the time. Often over bankruptcies or legal issues - like who actually owns what - but sometimes because the last part of the money they need to finish up never arrives; then there's shit like The Day The Clown Cried which the stars don't want to come out.
A death, walk-out or firing can also really hold up or cancel a production that's already under lens.
>>81002798
Not really. 10's entire world is an unlivable hell, crawling with the angry, unsent souls of the dead. The people running it are undead, and until the end of the game, the world is routinely besieged by a ciy busting monster, that can only be sedated, temporarily, through human sacrifice; whoever stops it each time inevitably becomes that monster. 7's is run by a megacorporation that murders its entire lower class after one of their operatives wipes out the hero's hometown. 6, in which a main character attempts to commit suicide halfway through, has already been mentioned, and Tactics pretty much happens in Westeros.
MoS is dark...because the villain destroys a few city blocks?

It's a matter of presentation and tone. Final Fantasy always have moments of levity and charm in it, while the Snyderverse is consistently nothing but edge and bleakness.
>>81002744
Johns is terrible with batman and with movies, but this isnt his fault. The problem are the critics that want a quipfest

As a long time fan of both DC and Marvel, this really sucks. I was really hoping to have two movie universes to enjoy and be hyped about. I still don't understand the company wars shit, but I guess humans are wired for tribalism, so it makes a certain sense. IMO it's not about who wins, it's about having the most good capeshit to watch.
>>81004062
It's weird to me that people care more about "being on the right side" than simply getting more worthwhile entertainment.
>>81004062
Please take you common sense somewhere else.
Seriously people don't realize that a bad comic movie effects all comic movies just as good ones do. Better to hope all comic movies are good and not celebrate when one is bad. One bad one can screw up everything.
>>81002538
C'mon guys, get real. I could give a shit about this movie, but you all are acting like WB gives a flying fuck about critics reviews. This movie has Batman, Supes, and Wonder Woman in it. It will make all the goddamn money based on this along and WB and Snyder will bank it and continue making average DC films and laughing at critics all the way. These people are out to make MONEY. If they wanted acclaim they could hire some schmuck to make a weepy Oscar bait drama for pennies and go pocket a few statues. They don't give a fuck about me, you, or any of these critics - they care that all the joe snuffy's drop 60 bucks to take the family to it at least once.
>>81003110
I liked it too, anon. Criminally underrated.
>>81004168
I really think that the Dark Knight fucking ruining live action capeshit, but not because of the movie. We ruined it. Now the expectation is that every fucking capeshit movie should be Oscar-worthy "cinema" because we desperately crave validation from the masses and snobby film critics regarding our favorite hobby. We're like the whiny ass girlfriend constantly fishing for compliments rather than enjoying the shit we like. Again, I don't give a shit about this company wars nonsense...I just want to have a good time watching capeshit and fuck all that other noise.
>>81004686
You realize that the MCU, you most financially successful film franchise around, which has completely dominated the genre and defined what a superhero movie is to the public, built it's success on a premise of being light-hearted and funny right?
>>81004762
That's part of the point. Capeshit should just be what it is and stop trying to be "cinema".
>>81003004
You would not believe how happy that would make me, to see DC become good by BTFOing Snyderfags with their "Capekino" memes.

>For once, Clark Kent is having some fun. Someone has to be.
>It’s also not much fun.
>But then, fun isn’t what we’re after when we venture out of the fairly jaunty Marvel Universe and into the relatively irony-free DC Comics one.
>>81005135
The movie be filled with quip won't make them be good.

Why the fuck you made one?
