Lets say we are allowed to make our own version of RWBY from the start. We can really do whatever the fuck we want with it but for the sake of viewers, we need people to like it so just going flat out smut constantly would be a terrible idea.

The point of the train was that it was supposed to fuck up Beacon at the same time as all the other shit was going down. RWBY stumbled across it and was able to partly foil Cinder's plans, leading to Roman getting captured (no, getting caught wasn't part of his plan). It was also necessary Blake because her main drive was catching Roman, since she thought he was a corrupting influence on the White Fang. Once he was caught she was finally able to relax and start acting like a friend with everyone, which made Adam's edgy shit all the more painful when he brought her world down.

My guess is because they're both blonde and their personalities are like foils to each other (in a similar vein as Weiss to Ruby). Jaune is shrinking, insecure, and weak. Yang is bombastic, confident, and strong.
In addition it's likely that a scenario could have risen in Volume 1/2 where Yang teaches Jaune how to pick up chicks since he needs help with Weiss and they get a little closer.
I love Bumblebee, but right now it is all potential and no results. I do think it would be so much better than Eclipse, but it's hard to say where the story is going.

While they both handle interesting topics, I'm more interested in Weiss and Sun.
The Ruby Yang Jaine part could be interesting if they all just talked about how they felt. Yang would realize that, while her mother did the same, there's no reason she couldn't leave as well. Ruby would come to terms with what it really means to have a family (to prevent the whole leaving thing) and Jaune won't have to go through the hell Tai did. Tai and Qrow would be there to offer help and bury some hatchets.
