Well Roman they specifically mentioned they had stretched his tenure way longer than they had any intention to. He was supposed to disappear after volume 1 but kept him due to fan reaction. Roman seemed like a death for the sake of reaction, since they just didn't need him anymore.
Penny and Pyrrha seemed to be to move the plot forward, which isn't bad but just made me feel nothing compared to other deaths in shows.
I felt nothing with penny's death and just sort of laughed knowing it was coming, and with Pyrrha I just feel skeptical that she's even dead.

I don't think so. Even if it was, they were coincidentally effective. Either way, I think it is good to see that they actually have the balls to off a few characters. I'm not sure it could be put past them that they would get revived, but I'll get my hopes up for now.

The Fall maiden's death was a point before her character was even introduced.

I kind of like Xlth to be honest. She's way less of a shit about being passionate toward Pyrrha than, say, Octavian, and she also goes out of her way to tell people not to take credit for others art and posts sources all the time.

Not really, everything about Pyrrha and Penny's death has been foreshadowed and built up over the course of several seasons. It helps develop the characters and moves the plot along.
Roman didn't need to die, but he was always just a petty villain that they needed to get rid of before his schtick wore off.
So I've been thinking a bout Jaune being based on Joan of Arc, and how she died.

>There's fire all around, which she caused.
>But she has means of escape.
>She heads towards it.
>Suddenly, Jaune grabs her. He won't let go.

I had a theory.
Cinder seemed to have everything always go according to plan because all her defeats before V3 were given over to Roman instead, since he wasn't in the original plans outside of the first chapter of volume 1.
That's why he always seems like a chump that always lost, because he was never written to have the small victories that Cinder achieved, whilst she looked too good because all her defeats were given to someone else.

I think at some point the maidens may have actually consolidated their powers. Possibly even with Salem herself killing and taking some of them.
When they realized Cinder had taken a portion of the power they didn't seem to do anything to secure the others, and you'd think that Ozpin would have at least one around to fight Cinder in the event that she got the full Maiden powerup.

To be honest, Pyrrha’s death scene was pointless, hilarious and she totally went out like a bitch.
Question 1: What is her motivation for confronting Cinder? Ozpin tells Pyrrha to go away because she would get in the way. Jaune tells Pyrrha she can’t beat Cinder. There is nobody in danger right now by Cinder’s hand and the battle is basically lost. Her confrontation was pointless.
Question 2: If Pyrrha believes in destiny, wouldn’t she have gained the powers of the Fall Maiden powers before Cinder did? It just seems like an obvious “you aren’t destined to carry the power” hint when destiny deicides not to give you the ability right then and there.
Question 3: Even if she beats Cinder, what makes Pyrrha think that Cinder is just going to lay down and die? There’s a giant Grimm outside that Cinder could just jump on and escape. Pyrrha would never have been able to get the powers anyways even if she somehow miraculously won the fight.
All in all, I was laughing all the way at how overly dramatic and rushed the ending felt.

You don't see destiny the same way Pyrrha did. Destiny isn't like a thing that slaps all this shit together. You have to move forward to meet your destiny. Probably not as evil as Salem makes him sound to be, just more pragmatic and morally ambiguous but for the greater good. Assuming the guy's like a million years old, I think it makes sense for his character. I know these last few episodes have been really cool with the shift in tone and actual character injuries, but did anyone feel a bit off about the way these episodes were executed?
I mean the whole rest of the show projected the idea of these kids being able to take out anything without any real struggle. The grimm invasion from the train scene hardly did anything and was easily taken care of, and Yang could solo a mech without so much a scratch in return. Our early viewings of Adam were quite calm seeing how he didn't seem to be really evil.
Then, it's like roosterteeth suddenly read some fan mail saying that it was too innocent and they just went "you know what, screw it" and turned the show upside down.
Now, literally two and a half seasons of light-hearted fighting and grimm slaying turned into people losing arms, getting stabbed in the stomach and flat out being disintegrated in 3 episodes with robots that are suddenly actually powerful and grimm that pose a threat. The only enjoyable villain gets eaten and a potentially cool but warped mentor figure turns out to just be an abusive-ex. Other than Cinder's "all according to plan" nonsense, there was really no way to tell just how much shit was going to get thrown around.
I dunno. The last few events in the show were cool and all, but they felt completely out there and maybe unjustified for some characters (cough phyrra).

Adam was bugfuck insane from the Black trailer when he had no qualms about leaving innocent bystanders to die - it's just been made more apparent here.
As for everything else, it may be a touch excessive from a certain angle, but people were incredibly dissatisfied with how The Breach turned out. The idea Grimm invading Vale was treated like a huge deal, and then Coco bust out her gatling and then there was nothing to worry about. Of course, far sight from people dying and losing arms, but really:
