>>
>>78773105
I don't think you grasp just what it is you're saying.

Not liking Annihilation is fine; it's not my favorite thing either, despite how highly the rest of the internet lauds it.

But to say it's the worst thing Marvel's done in 15 years? To say that

>Ultimatum
>Ultimates 3
>Bendis' Avengers
>The fucking Punisher in Heaven
>DeConnick Captain Marvel
>countless other books of the same, terrible quality

are better is something that really can't be attributed to anyone other than those unfamiliar with what was actually put out by Marvel since the turn of the millennium.

In other words: that's the new Big Two primary audience.
>>

That was my first assumption. Not of Many.

And you say Annihilation is dull....

>>78773201

there was nothing wrong with ultimatium, it was a good crisis like book and it actually shook up the ultimate universe when it was starting to stagnate. ultimates 3 was okay... what are you getting at. I read all of those except punisher. They were still way more exciting.

>>78778129
"books that women usually like" does not mean "books for women." Chill.

And it's not JUST a matter of the individual books. Taken as a whole, your shelf looks very feminine. Luna Bros, Harley Quinn, Sandman, Saga, Wayward, lots of "strong female protags."

Is it worth powering through? I felt like it was just "more of the same" and I expected a bit more than "indie Suicide Squad."

>Orion, 52, Planetary Omnis
Those are the next DC omnis on my list, and I can't decide which to get first. I saw your shelf in a previous thread as well and it tortured me just as badly. "Just buy all three at once," is the terrible idea it gives me.
>>
>>78778431
It's a REALLY good idea for the next 5 days because B&N's 3-for-2 deal includes omnis
>>
>>78778284
I was responding more to that one anon but I do get it. I prefer more story driven comics than action driven comics because I have no idea where to start in the larger series. Most male driven books are super hero series that I don't know where to start on.
>>
>>78778431
Planetary is extremely indebted to modern, widescreen storytelling; it's a good series, but you may want to hold off on it if you're worried about the most bang for your buck.

I liked Orion a lot more than 52, but it comes down to whether you want cosmic and trippy or more traditional superhero stuff.
>>

52 is the best of the bunch.

In the vein of Sweet Tooth
>Essex County if you haven't already, also Meire
>Stray Bullets

In line with Empowered
>Body Bags

Moving towards heroes
>Grant Morrison's Animal Man
(Hell, maybe you even wanna check out Lemire's Animal Man before/after that)
>Major Bummer

Does this count as literature maybe?
>Bacchus
>Cerebus

>>78778540

Thanks for the recommendations. I actually used to own Grant Morrison's Animal but sold my copy of some dumb reason. And don't worry about literature. I read books as much as comic books. I'm working on the H.P. Lovecraft collection and The Divine Comedy.
>>
>>78778431
52 is great but the omnibus seems too large, best format is the 4 paperbacks since you get the notes pages with those (they were left out of the omnibus for some reason)

DC is putting out two larger trades for it soon too but I'm not sure if they will have the notes pages

Well that's when Fiffe started doing the issues focused on each individual team member. I like those issues (just like how I like all of Copra), but volume 3 is where he gets back on track with the storytelling. So yes keep reading, you faggot. You especially need to hurry up and get to issue 21, my personal favorite. It's basically just one long action scene with very little dialogue, but goddamn is it awesome.

I'm trying to catch up on dc history from the 80s to nu52.i want to get all the crisis books mainly. Any recommendations on versions of the major crisis books? Also want a nice collection of major story arcs for the big characters like green Lantern, flash, (I have enough batman already).. Any recommended trades I should get?

I really want that Eternaut.
>>
>>78788232
My copy was bought from a third-party via Amazon. Turns out it was from a library, so it has library stamps on it in some places. Not that it takes away from the whole of the book, of course, but I was expecting something a bit cleaner.

Still, it's better than not having the book at all.

the guy at the Mile High Comics in Lakewood CO tried to tell me the Man-Thing Omnibus had all the man-thing stuff in it, after leaving the store b.c i didn't have that much money and my brother wouldn't shell out that much for me, we looked online and saw just "how much" all of it really meant...good thing i saved my money it would be a waste to spend 100+ on something that "complete". good thing the .cbr version got ripped a few months after i got back as i was still strongly considering buying it since i couldn't find it in moe. oh well at least i have (probably) more man-thing comics on my hard drive than anyone else now and i can be happy with my two essentials

>>78836269
so fans will have to buy a new edition with an updated cover for 125% increase in price?

Marvel should just release an Archival Edition which has literally every appearance of a character, EVERY ONE, one panel in a comic, then the whole comic is in there, shit i'd pay ~800 for a nice quality man-thing archival edition. but of course one problem is that the stories are ongoing so it'll be tedious to try to get all of a character.
