>Season 1: Standard above-average kid's show
>Season 2: Witty kid's show with fun plots and good characters, some meta humor and world building
>Season 3: Like season 2, but a bit more experimental. At points it seems like it's struggling to stay fresh
>Season 4: A fever dream, it's like the writers all got high on LSD then through any little thought they had into the show
I really wish this show got just one more season
Instead of another season, I'd have rather seen the show just switch over to occasional specials. Like a Halloween and Christmas episode every year with the occasional extended episode. If nothing else, that would have let them finish out the Star Wars movies.
Swampy and Dan are working on a new show so that'd allow them to work on both and those specials tended to be the best episodes over the last few seasons anyway.
>>78656795
Hell the new show is set in the same universe. Just a little ways away from Phineas and Ferbs house so we'll probably still see them from time to time.
>>78656826
Doof 101 was probably proof of concept that a high school setting would work rather than a Doof based spinoff. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they use Heinz in it; worrying about the voice actor isn't an issue when the character is voiced by a show runner.
Might be why they gave Vanessa a reason not to be at Danville High School in the final episode along with adding some more teenage characters in Night of the Living Pharmacist.
>>78656869
>adding some more teenage characters in Night of the Living Pharmacist.
pretty sure Vanessa's friends showed up in other episodes
Ginger was much better after her VA was replaced in season 4.
Adyson: I know! We can get stung by radioactive bees and gain bee-themed superpowers!
Holly: Um, we don't have access to radioactive bees.
Ginger: Yeah... THAT'S what's wrong with that plan.
Needed more Linda cheesecake.
>>78657296
They did but, besides Lacee, were all voiceless and nameless backgtound characters before then.
>tfw no Stacy episode
>>78657757
I wish they could have worked her into the OWCA episode somehow. That was a plotline that never got enough play.
>>78656826
I think I heard somewhere that he always missed out on Phineas and Ferb's Big Ideas because of his bad luck, which is why we never saw him in the background.
>>78656795
>>78656826
>>78656869
never heard a peep about this show before, what do we know about it?
>>78659486
It's based around the concept of Murphy's Law; anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
Milo is a decendant of the guy the law is named for.
This is the only image of the girl we've got so far.
>>78656415
No, four seasons should be the rule of all animation. Writers quit, or artist have some breakdown and stop.
>It really was a fun ride though.
>>78656415
Loved it right till the end, but it was strange how many plotlines got started right near the end; Stacy finding out about Perry, AT2D episode, Doof's relationship with his parents etc.
>>78660444
At least Doof and his pop's were resolved.
>>78660560
>tfw no hot black mom
>>78660603
Indeed, another mystery plot..
So I don't get it. Is this supposed to be an edutainment show like Arthur and The Magic School Bus? Because I constantly hear parents praising the show for teaching their kids
>>78660698
Once in a while during shenanigans they'll sneak in educational memes and kids learn things.
>Like subliminal lesbian tention.

Nope.
>>78659486
It's not been confirmed by Dan or Swampy but Weird Al is apparently voicing the main character since he included Milo in a collage of characters he's played.
>>78661039
I understand what they were going for in just having it be the primary cast but it felt underwhelming compared to Rollercoaster: The Musical and Summer Belongs to You, which were probably written with being potential series finales.
I also think it undermined Vanessa's character development by having her suddenly go back on being okay with Heinz being evil
>>78666874
>I also think it undermined Vanessa's character development by having her suddenly go back on being okay with Heinz being evil
Well she did seem to have a better understanding of him and saw that villainy wasn't really for him.

Link or it didn't happen. Weird Al's busy with his music career.
>>78667331
It was weird, since there was an episode about how he's a failure at being good.

I think I'm going to miss those Stacy-Candace interactions as much as anything else about that show.
Hu and Tisdale really worked well as a combination.
Candace is still my favorite character in the main cast.
>>78661039
I think it was a (probably unintentional) kind of fitting end given it's themes even if it wasn't as bombastic as some of the specials.
When you think about it, the entire episode is basically a take on the general mechanics of the show (Candance tries to bust the boys / Doof builds an Inator and Perry stops him.) taken to it's sort-of-meta extreme: A continuous loop of the same structure over and over again which eventually threatens everything if not stopped.
They probably weren't even trying that and just wanted to do a groundhog day episode, but it sure ends up having some meaning behind it.

>>78668468
Indeed, the V.A's had a proper chemistry.
>>78669318
She pretty much was the main character as time went by. A lot of that probably had to do with the shift in Phineas's personality.

But not as a lesson, just in conversation
>>78671871
or the lack of a shift
>>78656415

>>78673216
Phineas was originally going to be snarky though they changed it before the series began. The first episode and specials were about the only time his original one comes through.
>>78673695
oh that. yeah.
>>78661039
It wasn't the strongest note to leave off on but there was something nicely familiar about it. Great songs too.
Given that we had the movie, Summer Belongs to You and the Rollercoaster musical all be big celebrations of the show, I didn't mind the quiet ending so much.
What does /co/ think of Doofenshirtz?
I find him funny and endearingly pathetic, and also very tuned in to cliche's but completely oblivious to common sense.
You can put him in any situation and he'll still make me laugh.
I think he's one of the funniest animated characters of the last 20 years.
>>78675129
i agree
>>78675129
Doof is great. It's great anytime he's on screen. I really wish they hadn't stopped making Doof's Daily Dirt. It's great to watch him fail but it's also great to see things go his way like his relationship with his daughter improve.
>>78675129
>>78675193
>>78675217
Seeing him and Perry gp at it was always a high light to the episodes.
>>78675217
i was amazed disney let them do something like that in the first place, something so risky.. something that referenced other things they didn't own..
as it is, they redid one of the videos after reading a girl's comment in the video that had her real name.
and now they have moved it entirely off of youtube onto disney video or whatever
>>78675290
for me it was all about him not recognizing perry without his hat. Perry has to be the only superhero in history whose secret identity is only used with his nemesis
i also loved the weird rambles he would go on

Wouldn't have worked well. But what if the show's characters where designed differently, would it have still been as popular?
>>78676826
>>78676859
>>78675129
Completely agree Doof is easily the best character in the show and one of the vest I've seen in a while
>>78676827
Phineas and Ferb tend to be really creepy if you try to translate their features into more realistic forms.
The simplicity of their designs probably did have a lot to do with endearing them with kids though; Phineas and Ferb were intentionally designed that they'd be easy for kids to draw.
>>78675129
Fox had that countdown a while back that put Phineas and Ferb into the top thirty but nobody else from the show. Heinz and Candace had a lot better claim on making that list than either of the boys.
I don't think they are even in the top ten funniest characters of this show, let alone of all time.
>>78676682
did not expect to like this so much
>>78677007
I see your point. Dumb down for the kiddies I guess in every way.
>>78676827
let's put it this way
i wouldn't have waited YEARS to watch this if it had had a better art style (and a less ridiculous name)
i didnt even give it a goddamn chance til I saw /co/ liked it and I was like oh fine, there's a marathon.. i'll give it a shot
i couldnt believe how wrong I was.
>>78677507
There's a difference between simplifying and dumbing it down.
>>78677644
I'll never be able to understand those horrifying eyes; sure, the full suits are kinda creepy but nowhere near as bad as the goggle eyes. Especially seeing as how they were perfectly content to just have people in costumes for things like the parades.

The art style is a little odd, but it is a nice change from the completely generic, boring CalArts design that 90% of cartoons have.
>>78657757
>Put That Putter Away
>>78678046
A lot of girls her age and even older women have that same physique though. It's probably less that she's flat and more that body style is just an average build while characters like Vanessa and Linda are just ridiculously stacked.
>>78671871
I never much cared for Candace, so this was kind of frustrating for me, especially since I really think they could have done more with Phineas and Ferb themselves.
Not even the finale was about them and it would have been the last time we ever saw them, which was irritating.
>>78678393
at first she was just a stock standard shitty teen girl
but then she grew on me a bit. her flaws remained but she became more of a real person. and she managed to learn her lesson most of the time
really if stacy had been a better influence on her instead of reinforcing the dumbass teen girl stereotype behavior, she probably couldve been a really cool person
as for p+f, they're more like props.
>>78678489
>a stock standard shitty teen girl
That's part of it, yeah. Plus it felt like the more the show went on the shittier her treatment of the boys got. Like she'd throw them under the bus after they do something positive for her or she'd go out of her way to yell at them before they even did anything. I just didn't find her fun to watch.
The boys being props sucked because some of my favorite episodes have them actually DOING things. Episodes like I Brobot and I Want My Mummy showed them being funny enough on their own without having to depend on Buford and Baljeet as comic relief, plus the Movie and specials had some really great character beats for Phineas, so why not keep doing shit like that?
Candace got more attention because you can't fap to the boys. Know your audience.
>>78677663
Potato, Pototo Tomato, Tomoto...
>>78678706
I guess I never felt like the boys really had much to explore, but I'm glad you enjoyed bits of it, even if it wasn't enough for you. I enjoyed the main characters being the least interesting people, because I usually do. I'm sick of being told 'here, identify with this character, he's the main one!' when I'm always more of a side-character. This show just invites you to take a ride with them like you were one of their friends.

The actors did a great job with what they had, considering they can't talk (well, Phineas did. Ferb had it made since he already doesn't talk).
Phineas was very energetic and moved a lot, while Ferb was more stiff and reserved.
I went in with my own brother, so it was us brothers with them brothers. What ended up happening was almost a fight to mug the camera. It was hilarious. They jumped in front of us and did a dynamic pose, then we jumped out behind them and photobombed them, etc, great shit.
You know how the costumed characters have this sort of sign language type of deal to direct each other while they're in costume? Ferb started doing it to us and Phineas while we were trying to set up another pose and he had an idea of how it should go. Phineas got it, but me and my brother had no clue what he was trying to tell us. Either way, we pulled it off.
I really hope they're there next time we go. The show ending doesn't leave me with much hope, but you never know.

I think it heavily helped that it was a side-story sort of deal rather than the usual "Let's just replace the characters of the movie with our cast" that every parody of Star Wars did.
It gave you more moments of characters reacting to parts of the film rather than just a parody version of the scene itself.

>That being said it never got a fandom following like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls, maybe for the lack of ongoing story arcs.
It was half because of the lack of continuity, and half because the characters' charm comes from their witty writing rather than because you could write fanfiction about them. You don't get that huge kind of fan following without fanfiction.
>>78708577
I phrased that badly. What I meant was that the characters aren't relatable. You can like them a whole lot, but they really are cartoon characters rather than animated humans with realistic personalities and responses.
>>78689507
>That being said it never got a fandom following like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls, maybe for the lack of ongoing story arcs.
On /co/ anyway; until scheduling shenanigans and the shift to a lesser channel hit, Phineas and Ferb's ratings were always higher than either of those shows.
Adventure Time had ratings that were only around half of what Phineas and Ferb was drawing in Season 2 when it was getting consistent airdates and promotion.
Gravity Falls was usually closer in the ratings but the highest rated episode of it was about what Phineas and Ferb was drawing at its height. On the whole, its ratings were lower.
>>78708726
Yeah a show like Dexter's Lab was useless for fanfiction because the characters are surreal caricatures. The Simpsons, Hey Arnold, King of the Hill all have relatable characters that experience human emotions hence you could actually write fanfics about them.

She'll never get to lick that red flavored Candy, and will have to settle with a Coltrain pounding.
>At least in that universe...Wink.

I dunno, Jeremy seems loving enough and Stacy seems Sis-tier enough to be open to threesomes.

It was amazing for that. Also kind of amazing and funny how the cartoon fleshed out the Empire more as people than the original A New Hope did.
>tfw Disney will never create a new Kinect Galactic Dance-off game with a special level where you go against Candace, Beuford, and Baljeet doing "In the Empire"

If Jeremy is clever, he accept this ready

It's more because of her live success that now she doesn't have much time for V.A.'ing, hince the reason Stacy became so rare in later seasons.
>I'm happy for her, honest.
