Now, Cold-Plasma is a moniker like Dry-Ice. It's a name to make it easy to explain. It's a special state of plasma that doesn't need to be several tens of thousands of degrees hot to exist. Only a couple thousand at most. A bunch of /science-folk/ did a star wars TV thing where they talked about what SW stuff we could do at some point in the future or the present. Blaster bolts and light sabers were both the most possible as cold-plasma weapons. The conclusion: with a building sized set up, we could make a 1:1 lightsaber blade, probably in place of the lightning rod. And of course advancement=smaller necessary components, so it's doable.

Is there any sort of recommendation list for Legends books/comics?
I'm half-tempted to go to Wookiepedia's timeline of Legends EU and try going through everything from the start, or another site's list of all Legends content in publication order, but whenever anyone talks about Legends they make it sound like it was largely terrible.

Speculation. I really think it was written for her to be Luke's daughter, but they've give themselves enough of a negative space they could twist the story.

I'll put aside by ribbing and snark for the EU, and say this. While a lot of joke-tier stuff happened, a lot of really narratively solid material was in it too.
I've heard more than I've personally consumed, but the Life and legend of Obi-wan Kenobi was a good read, I've heard a lot positive mentions for the Kotor comics and some of the not-drew-karpyshin novels, which are Bioware mmo tie-in garbage, a lot of people love thrawn's stories but I never got into it much, and I think I heard the Jedi Academy/Jedi Outcast stuff that wasn't vidya was at least solid, as well. Everything else I've got is either mediocre, outright terrible, video games, or conjecture.

So Disney doesn't have to be reliant on any one director to keep the franchise going.
Episode 8 already has a script written by Rian Johson, and he's supposed to write Episode 9 too.
Johnson can hack away at the script for months to lock the story down. Compare that to Force Awakens, which we now know went through many major overhauls in development.
