>>

no that's a little clever
>>
>>78117478
Well the normal reason for impaling people along well traveled areas is to make an example of them.

>>78117483
They are in the void, so if you have an angel doing anything it's going to be shellless.
>>
What was Cio trying to tell Allison?
>>
>>78117516
I have no idea what separates the void from regular Throne.
>>
>>78117523
Well, with the context of allison asking her "Who are you" it was PROBABLY going to be her mysterious key-stealing former-ebon-devil backstory, but then allisons superpower of being a belligerent idiot activated
>>
Huh. So those "pack animals" are the shades of Humans and Servants twisted into something new?

>>78117533
Everything in Throne and the universes have their physical forms sustained by the IMMORTAL FIRE. However, the Void is simply "empty" and for anything to exist in it, it must be capable of sustaining its own existence with pure will. Basically, Throne = Existence sustained for all, Void = Sustain your own existence.
>>
>>78117743
She is fairly drunk right now. The backstory is gonna get teased for a while it seems
>>
>>78118231
That wasn't a criticism, saying allison's superpower is being a belligerent idiot was completely sincere.
Consider Aesma and the Three Masters.
>>
>>78117980
>So those "pack animals" are the shades of Humans and Servants twisted into something new?
Hard to say. They use pretty much the same in the material version of Throne.
Or maybe material stuff is simply visible from the Void
>>
>>78118254
>allison's superpower is being a belligerent idiot

I don't know I think she's gotten hold of the scenario she's in fairly well. Picking a fight with princess wasn't a great plan but beyond that's doing fine.

Her first day in fucked up monster demon god angel land was her sitting through listening to all the exposition that was offhandedly given to her and since coming you can see at the very least she was abosrbing what she saw and heard rather than "HUH WHAT'S GOING ON OH WOE IS TO BE A MAIN CHARACTER WHO NEVER PAYS ATTENTION".

Even while drunk she's able to notice a fucking bullshit excuse when she hears it.
>>
>>78118400
Well they talk about using the souls of the dead, which are apparently prevalent enough in throne that it is "against city ordinance" to give them money, so yeah you might be able to bring them out of the void.
>>
>>78118463
>"HUH WHAT'S GOING ON OH WOE IS TO BE A MAIN CHARACTER WHO NEVER PAYS ATTENTION"
Well i did say a BELLIGERENT idiot. If she was like that she'd be more of a whiny idiot.
>>

yeah, Allison seems more to be the kind of person who starts getting really angry than really sad and upset.
>>
>>78117980
>shades of Humans and Servants twisted into something new
Maybe not, what counts as human seems differ between dimensions because the angels were given new form by the demiurges who get called human, which means creatures like Jagganoth and Gog-Agog count as human. As for the Servants, they don't seem to have a confirmed form, instead they have the set role of creating/maintaining reality somehow, so those could just be normal servants from a different dimension.
>>
>>78118740
Maybe any there are Aliens as well which are also "human" because they have the Yis aspect in them?

I don't know if this answers everyone's questions, but not all the demiurges were human. Some of them had the distinct heads of guys like Yot Vash and some of his guards. Some of them were also those weird insect/reptilian things that Mammon is. Note in the new panel that the corpses that closely resemble those two look pretty pale.

I found this a very telling exchange. Cio is not exactly the forthcoming type, and yet, when The Incipient Godking asked her a direct question, she was preparing to answer immediately. So much so that she was relieved when the drunken powerhouse lost the thread of the conversation two heartbeats later.

Exactly how much power does Allison have? We know the Key of Kings responds to what she wants, but how much ELSE is it giving her?

God damn it, every time I think I have something figured out it gets more confusing. Pack animals can't exist in the Void, but there they are? I get the Servant ones but there are obviously also ones from the black flame too. Shades of the dead are "pliable," so does that mean that those pack animals used to be humans? Is that a prime angel corpse lying there? What is that doing in the Void? (Which begs the question, what is the landscape in the void made of?) Automatons (including vehicles like cars, I suppose) apparently decay "when left unattended," what does that mean? Is it something that happens to all nonliving objects in the void? Do you have to focus on your cargo to keep it from dematerializing? In the last thread, Abbadon said that you can take shades or concepts of objects with you into the void, so if you "conceptulaize" more objects while you're in there will that mean you gain more when you come out of the gate?

Argh. I hope Abba has an official Q&A session eventually. It's awesome when he answers questions in the threads but I have so many that I'm starting to lose track of what I want to ask.
>>
>>78128575
You just need to look at these treads regularry. Abbadon often answers questions around here

>>
>>78128575
>Is that a prime angel corpse lying there?
Yes. They're everywhere.
>Is it something that happens to all nonliving objects in the void?
Probably since they have no flame and no will they will quickly fall to oblivion.
>if you "conceptulaize" more objects while you're in there will that mean you gain more when you come out of the gate?
No? You just take what you think you should in. You take in its shadow.
>>
>>78128415
It already all makes sense, genius. Did you not follow along with the basic backstory and current plot? Are you braindead?
>>

>Automatons (including vehicles like cars, I suppose) apparently decay "when left unattended," what does that mean? Is it something that happens to all nonliving objects in the void? Do you have to focus on your cargo to keep it from dematerializing?
I think it's just a way to say that mechanical things need regular maintenance or they'd break down. That's why they're unviable for transporting goods
>>

>>
>>78129392
I don't see any horns, just the wispy stuff that's on everyone in the void.
>>78129442
It's just weird because if everything in the void is a manifestation of will, then it would follow that you could will more things into being. I get taking something's shadow into the void, but it's weird to me that you get the real thing again when you take that shadow with you out of the void again. It's the conversion between the void and reality that's confusing me.
>>78129708
If a superhighway was built, vehicles wouldn't have to spend much time in the void. I can think of a few problems with it (prohibitive cost of maintaining the highway, prohibitive cost of maintenance since the cars would presumably still be damaged even over a short time) but I don't know of any official statement.
>>
>>78131646
>it would follow that you could will more things into being
If you had that much will sure. You would be on the level of the Demiurges.

It's kinda like teleportation with the void. If your teleporter splits the object into its atoms and transmits them to another place then it reassembles them on the other side. Only it's probably not instantaneous.

The demiurges restrict the advancement of the technology so it stays in its current antiquated form. The only one that seemingly is okay with it is Jagganoth. He has a horde of futuristic weapons.
>>
So is the reason Allison's Earth is technologically advanced because it was never conquered by the demiurges and just left alone?
>>
>>78132062
With the Key of Kings, I bet Allison is on that level too. The demiurges restricting tech is fair enough, I guess. I wasn't really taking that into account. To me it kinda just seems like a way to shoehorn the world into the fantasy genre though, which is a shame because it could be fantasy AND sci fi and that would be really cool.
>>
>>78132151
We dunno. It doesn't seem to be connected in any significant way with Throne or any other dimension so that probably has to do with it. I guess they just forgot about it?

>I bet Allison is on that level too.
She is way higher if she learns to tap into its power fully.

>To me it kinda just seems like a way to shoehorn the world into the fantasy genre though
Yeah definitely but I think its better this way. Magitek is cooler than just regular tech and it helps with feeling like the stories told in some eastasian religion. If you had regular tech mixing with the old stuff it would get cluttered and nonsensical I think. Plus the setting is already so far from the usual generic fantasy it's fine.
>>
>>78132289
Yeah, those are good points. I'm just a sucker for sci fi. I'm looking forward to Jagganoth's arc.
>>
>>78132289
The gate to Earth is the one the drinking competition took place next to. It's one of Mottom's but she hasn't opened it. The conquest of the multiverse was cut short by the demiurge war, so a lot of gates remained closed.
>>
>>78132503
Huh. Cool. That allows for a lot of possibilities.
>>
>>78123003
Holy sheet that makes too much sense, especially since Aesma technically created humans.
>>
>>78132151
I really want to see Allison try to trick people into thinking she knows how to use magic by showing them some stupid app on her phone.
>>
>>78132611
>Get back or I will cast the most sought after and deadly spell of the five kingdoms!
>Opens Flappy Birds on her phone and points it at them
>>
>>78123147
No, some of them are black. We know humans could definitely become shades, but since some of them were white and servants are supposed to be an intelligent species, it seems as if they could become shades as well.
>>
>>78128575
>>78129708
Abbadon said that the items that appear on a person's body (like clothes or weapons) are NOT the actual items themselves, but just projections of them brought into the void along with the wielder. This is correct, right? If no one will dispute this:

Perhaps automatons are the same thing, but require a person to sustain them with their will or else they'll disappear. The same way they do with the belongings they carry on their body.
>>
>>78132151
Yes. Not ALL of the worlds were conquered yet. There's just so many of them. That's why the devils at the beginning of this chapter were lounging about in front of a gate; they were waiting for 'work' once it opened. I think you can imagine what they would have been hired to do.

Earth's gate belongs to Mottom, mind you. It's within the area partitioned off to her. So if anyone is going to conquer Earth, it would be her.
>>
>>78117980
>Huh. So those "pack animals" are the shades of Humans and Servants twisted into something new?

That would be Extremely Barlowe of Abaddon. I approve.

though it's probably one of the races created to serve a particular purpose
>>
>>78134996
No, the text underneath the page states that shades are twisted into pack animals for some people to use. The other options are automatons and devil binding.
>>
>>78122711
Do all humans look like traditional humans though
>>
>>78135547
No. Those sorcerors trying to bind the demon where humans.
>>
>>78135547
Yep.

>>78135633
And they looked like traditional humans?
>>
>>78135648
No they didn't. They had weird skeleton noses. We don't know the range of what humans can look like.
>>
>>78135769
weird skeleton noses sure, but when we're getting into "don't look like traditional noises" we're talking about in the context of looking like fuckin' servants instead.
>>
>>78135769
Servants were all created for a purpose, hence their different forms. Angels' appearances conform with their state of mind in their free state. Devils are shapeless when unbound by a mask that gives them a set body and personality.

Humans have different appearances, but not as diverse as the other races. They have no noses? I've seen people without noses too. Birth defects. Weird stuff, but I imagine these summoners may have had theirs chopped off. People mutilate themselves throughout the ages for whatever reasons. Why not cut off one's nose too?
>>
>>78135983
Well layla brimstone also seems to have a skeleton noise on the previous page, but didn't have one back at hell 71, so it's probably more a factor of how well your project yourself into the void.
>>
>>78136110
Well there you go.
>>
>>78136110
That is interesting and perhaps why the three immediately treated Allison with some measure of respect/deference. She appears fully formed with all the cosmetic "unnecessary" features.

Truly her Will must be mighty indeed.
>>
>>78134623
>She opens the lighter app and tilts her phone back and forth
>Ooooohhh
>>78134728
This is where I start getting confused about transporting cargo through the void. If true it would probably mean that you'd have to keep your will bent of the items just to keep them from disappearing. There would probably be specialists just for that, and the stronger your will (Atum?) the more cargo you can maintain. Maybe that's what the pack animals are about, more than the actual weight of the items.
>>78136110
>>78136623
Now there's an interesting idea.
>>
>>78132230
>To me it kinda just seems like a way to shoehorn the world into the fantasy genre though
Don't worry, we'll be seeing some guys with I'd imagine pretty modern firepower when we get to Jagganoth's big ol' fortress.
>>
>>78132151
Actually most earths are technologically advanced. We saw a few people with tech-looking goggles and shit, and the text for this latest update mentioned that you can't use technology on the King's Road because it degenerates if left alone. Technology is also banned in Throne and the surrounding lands. Word of god is that Jagganoth is the only one who really makes use of it.
>>
>>78138311
>If true it would probably mean that you'd have to keep your will bent of the items just to keep them from disappearing
It's probably like since you expect for them to be there that keeps them there. Like your clothes. You know they should be on you so you don't even have to think about it. If you had more cargo I do expect it would be easier to have it go away because you don't know all the details?

>>78138477
>most earths are technologically advanced
Do you have any more evidence for that?

Don't forget that Zoss had a robot arm, and metal embedded in his skull, and first entered Throne through "dark science".
>>
>>78138597
That doesn't SPECIFICALLY say that most earths are technologically advanced. It doesn't technically say that any are. It suggests that SOME are, but if it was actually all that significant you'd expect finding a high-tech gunsmith in throne to not actually be particularly difficult.
>>
>>78138597
Yeah what that other anon said.

>>78138649
He was the first human to get in so there wasn't anything against technology, however his technology doesn't look too far from the kind that might be used in Throne.

I really wonder what kind of guy Zoss was compared to the others in his earth.
>>
>>78138793
I'm thinking either swole mad scientist hermit, or god-king of the solar system who thinks "I can do better than this".
>>
>>78138649
Gotta agree with >>78138793 as far as what his tech looks like. However I will give you that "dark science" rather than talking about The Art is somewhat telling.

>>78138847
I get the feeling he didn't START OUT as either of those. But after "recovering a fragment of the universal song" he was driven to become the person that would eventually breach throne.
>>
>>78128575
Have you considered that the elephants are not like out elephants and are self aware enough to maintain their form in the void?

They could be from a world where all the animals are smart as humans, but not smart in the same way.
There are over 330,000 Earths to pick from, some of them might have sapient creatures who resemble our animals.
>>
>>78138938
>>78138649
I'm guessing that Dark Science was a bit of thamaturgy that Zoss was able to discover combined with other more "normal" studies.
>>
>>78139187
I suppose all you would need is a sense of self. A dolphin or monkey could probably do it. It would probably be a very weak flame though.

>Truly her Will must be mighty indeed.

Huh! That's a good point.

I mean, we have to assume the Tyrant Grampa picked her for some reason.

Maybe she's got a WILL OF INVINCIBLE MIGHT, if only she can learn to use it. He was gonna show her all kinds of neat stuff about the Key, how to use her Will, etc, but then got killed and had to move fast, so he just jammed the Key of Kings into her head and now she's gotta figure it all out on her own.
>>
>>78139187
The text specifically states that animals (and not just our Earth's animals; wouldn't even make sense, since our Earth hasn't even been discovered) can't maintain their forms in the void and just disappear. What you see on this page? All shades, reformed into a new shape. The only other methods that can be used are devil binding and automatons, but the latter is pretty hard to maintain while the former is expensive. The last method is just to carry your stuff by yourself, so a caravan of servants (not Servants, mind you, but they could be servants too) could lug around some guys' belongings too.

>Now, the figure in the next to last panel here, on the other hand, bears a bit of a resemblance (mostly the hair style).

That looks nothing like Maya in her Mendicant Knight incarnation.

But if there is ANY theme evident so far in KSBD, it is that change is part of existence. Every character has changed, sometimes drastically.

Heck, Al-Yis-Un herself grew horns and was garbed in a humble robe when she first appeared. Now she has no horns and is a rugged adventurer in her dress.

I'm laying odds that that's Maya, a very young Maya. Maybe she'd just come to Throne in those days, and had horns because she was still drinking blue demon liquor, and somehow caught Incubus' eye.

And he then threw her over.

"Hell hath no fury" and all that jazz. Maybe Maya started as a jilted lover, but somewhere along the way realized she had the pure moxy to Be Someone.

And now she can see Zoss's One Great Key, just right over there....

That's more or less what Abbadon said, actually - the Seven are keeping a strangehold on technology. Jagganoth in particular is apparently stockpiling most advanced weaponry.

If people are allowed to have bicycles they might rise up to overthrow you! Better ban them.

Well, when the Demiurges started the Second Conquest, it was described as being a 'civil war', so I assume the main motivation behind it all was to bring 'enlightenment' to all the worlds that came under their rule. But then they started getting more interested in personal satisfaction, hence why they started killing each other.

Now, the Seven are simply living bored lives of debauchery and pursuing self-interest while waiting until the successor finally gets around to killing them all.
