Repo-ho-ho-hosting.
Last year I did a great contest for /co/ to record themselves singing/playing Christmas songs, and it was incredibly delightful. So we'll repeat it this year! Sing or play (or both) a Christmas song of your choosing (carol, hymn, whatever you like) and upload the recording to vocaroo or Youtube or wherever you please, then send the link to [email protected] along with your wishlist link. The one that tickles my fancy the most will receive a gift! Contest will close on Sunday, again, unless people really need more time.

Heads up for Comixology users, they're doing their 12 days of comics again with a free comic every day.

Yesterday was Secret Wars #1 and today is Archie #1 (the Mark Waid reboot/modernization) no clue if it's any good but it's free for those interested.

I was thinking of putting up a stream on Saturday, likely all of the Christmas episodes of various shows. That or the usual Christmas movies, like Gremlins and the first two Diehards.

>>78067942
My mother used to wait for me to get home from college to decorate the tree, but since she adopted she's been doing it without me. Other then that wrapping the kid's presents on Christmas eve after they've gone to sleep.

>>
>>78082710
You don't really need to finish the classic series to listen to The Eighth Doctor Adventures where she shows up later on, all it really requires is basic knowledge of 8's character although it does a fair amount of callbacks to the Hinchcliffe era (season 12-14)

That series is meant to be a mix between new and classic styles and I really recommend it as a jumping on point

the figure in the cabinet is actually a self-contained stationery set my dad got me decades ago. Gromit is a rubber, the sidecar's wings are a ruler, the porridge gun is a sharpener and it opens up to hold your pencils.

Hey Elusive, the person who posted two different lists isn't the anon I gifted last night is it? I have access to the archive again so I can officially reiterate, 1QHSA8UAG9DTB (.ca) can get taken off the list if he hasn't been already. It won't show up as a wishlist purchase since I'm mailing something to him directly.
>>
>>78084250
Also, Zum, if I get some spare time (which I tend to have, once I get off my ass) there's a cute and easy handcraft I bet your daughter would like, so I'll make you one.
>>
>>78084358

>>78084429
Yea.... well she does and she wears multiple layers any time she leaves her room but that room is 85+ degrees year round, it hits triple digits in the summer. She get's cold in the high 70s.

>>78084561
Nah man, just a joke that you had a hidden agenda.

I know my prime is expired, but let's see.
>>
>>78084358
Honestly, I think it really was his brother. They were different names, after all, just the same distinct last name. I always felt a little bad about that, since I was the one who brought it up initially.
>>
>>78084470
That sounds like it could be cool. She's driving me nuts today with hunting "crickets" thanks to an episode of Curious George she watched. In the episode, George used a boom mic to search the house to find the source of a cricket chirping, so he could catch and release it outside. Hijinks ensue and the cricket keeps getting back in and George makes a mess trying to catch it. Now she's running around with a foam noodle saying there are crickets all over the house and dumping out toys around the living room saying that the crickets are making a mess.
>>
>>78084265
This is why I keep the heat super low in winter and bundle up in heating blankets.

>>78084667
That's adorable. But I can only imagine it is less adorable having to deal with it yourself.
>>
>>78084667
We call that setting up the long con.
>>
>>78084667
George is smart huh.
>>
>>78084693
It's still adorable, but a little less so after the fifteenth time of helping to pick up the mess.

She also keeps wandering into the kitchen to open the lower cabinets and refrigerator door, claiming that there are ghosts and monsters that need to be caught "to save mommy's cabinets".
>>
>>78084693
2 of the 4 in the house can deal with the cold, we're most conformable with it in the mid 50s so we have our heaters set at the lowest setting possible, but we keep finding the living room heater set up in the mid 70s.
>>
>>78084773
Well clearly she's checking the fridge for dimensional portal, she's covering your ass from Zuul.

To preserve space for other storytimers I'm only doing the first 15 pages since the rest isn't about Christmas unless requested to do the entire issue, it's 24 pages total.

Here's Animaniacs #01 - A Christmas Special
>>
>buried under grading to try and get everything in before progress reports go out
>no time to eat, let alone do Christmas shit
>finally done
>literal 12-and-a-half hour day

How are you guys tonight?

HEY TAJADOR I HAVE AN ENTRY FOR YOUR CONTEST

I've had this arrangement of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" for ages, but this gave me an excuse to dust it off and actually learn it properly. (I hope you all recognize the song it's mashed up with. It bugged the hell out of me the first time I played it because I'm used to playing the original Beethoven version which is in a different key)

>>
>>78088400
I don't know, I just don't think Waid has the right tone, the first issue was alright...but (and this is going to sound silly considering the material) he feels too old.

>>78088435
See, I have no issue with the tone at all.

The tone feels right, but I do have 2 issues.

1- They've set stuff up... and just continue to setup the same things... I know Archie traditionally is quite circular, but it seems weird when they are going after more 'real' character drama.

2- By skewing a bit more on the 'drama' instead of comedy or character bits, it comes off as a bit of 'hey there young people!' which may be what you are referring to.

But I think that's partially a side effect of skewing a bit to hard on 'teenage drama', gives it that vague feel that CW, and prior to that WB, shows often had, wherein it all feels a bit... off?
>>
Hey Elusive you'll be around tomorrow right? I might need your list skills.
>>
>>78088557
I mean, it feels cheap going after Life With Archie.
Which, other than a rather mediocre finale, DID have a good balance of comedy and drama.

Trading that for Waid's reboot...it's watered down.
>>
Guys someone on eBay is selling the last Green Lantern Corps trade I need for $15 + $9 shipping. It usually goes for scalper prices of $30+. Should I pay that much for completion or keep hoping for a better price down the road?

since this is a friendly thread I hope you guys can help, I know they released most of the mirage comic run but it seems they skip some issues, will they ever reprint those or will they forever be missing? and do they only sell color versions of the later parts I have yet to see any black and white issues besides the first few.

>>
>>78091981
>>78092035
Two short films!

One is an arthouse film about a far off future where humans have become completely obsolete due to technology surpassing them exponentially.
Humans are now only used for experiments (kind of like how they're used as batteries in The Matrix)
The story focuses on a self aware android who is attempting to learn the last skill he does not have: to create meaningful art.
He uses a human woman to help him. At first, he uses her as a model, but realizes he does not have the capacity to capture her image. Eventually, she wakes up and instinctively begins painting. She creates beautiful portraits of what she sees and all she sees is the android.
The android becomes jealous and forces her to teach him exactly what she did. She can't do art by force and must figure out how to escape the insecure machine.

The other one is a comedy about a family that completely despises each other, but try to keep their thinly veiled hate to themselves during a nice dinner until it eventually erupts.
>>
>>78092046
Try going to Your Account and Manage Adress Book under Settings. That might be able to help you.

>>78092164
I really wanna see that first one.

I've always wanted to do something like this but I'm not comfortable in front of a camera. Or a group. Or with people for the most part. Plus I suck and writing if I wanted to go that route. Though I have an unrefined, tiny idea in mind if I ever get an solid bit of confidence to write it all out.

>>

Ok thanks, fixed it. Reposting code: KH5WB08TYKXR
>>

I'll post a link somewhere when its finished.

I'm not comfortable in front of a camera either that's why I like to be behind it most of the time. I understand how you feel. Having people watch you make something is incredibly uncomfortable at times, but it eases the mind to know they all want you to succeed.

Hey, I used to suck at writing until I just did it enough times. All you can do to improve is to do it over and over again.
I think you should try to write it out or at least write a brief description to get the ball rolling.

Good morning all. It's another dreary day in britfag land. I'm finishing off the tree today (last night was a washout due to the baby wanting baby things) and am also arranging to cook for Christmas dinner for the visiting family tomorrow.

That's going to be 12 people in total.

And finally I got a letter through for my transfusion so I get to go into hospital on the 16th and the 31st of Dec. Wooooo!

I'm also so far behind on my advent calendar that it's not even funny.

Well hello, Davey. I have no idea what you just said.
>>
>>78095197
Hey Scribs - done with that Fourth World one?
Damn, meant "somewhere".
Basically, commuting sucks so I either take an early enough train and miss it, or just stay put
>>
>>78095209
I haven't even started yet, but I didn't forget about it or the Titans request someone else made. I was super lethargic the last couple days from not sleeping and didn't feel like doing anything. I'll probably take a crack at them in a little bit. Did you just want like a New Gods christmas party, or Darkseid and crew in tow as well?
>>
>>78095174
It's 11pm now, so I'll probably be asleep while it happens
>>
>>78095174
Possibly but his computer shamanism spins me out whenever I attempt it.
>>
>>78095234
Well, Darkseid and crew are New Gods haha. I mean, if ya can - if not just New Genesis is fine.

Lightray on top of the tree, and Metron as Santa letting people like Kalibak sit on their lap is the dream
>>
>>78095240
Yeah, I figured. Go to sleep now and get up in 6 hours to join us!

>>78095241
Oh, I doubt it's going to be one of those crazy puzzle things. Those take days to accomplish.

>>78095249
>Darkseid and crew are New Gods
Don't be like that, you know what I meant!
>>
>>78095268
>Don't be like that, you know what I meant!
Just making sure.
It's my own issue with how some people divorce them from the New Gods as general DCU or Superman villains...

And that ain't right haha
>>
h-here's my wish list...

>>
>>78095284
They're all probably in the game, so I'll add them all. Things like Lightray on the tree and Metron Santa help though, so if there's other things you think of let me know.
>>
>>78095317
Off the top of my head, Barda and Scott under the mistletoe, Godfrey singing carols, and Orion arguing with Highfather and Darkseid
>>
>>78095268

I'm surprised you went straight for Infinity Man rather than the Forever People.

Hey guys!

I haven't been able to post much this year, which is rather unfortunate. In fact, I've barely been on the Internet at all for the past couple weeks, which makes me sad and a little homesick because as shitty as /co/ can be, it's still my home.

Anyways, I got all moved and settled into my new apartment. And just today my mother stopped by to visit and she brought my mail... and I got a gift! Journey into Mystery featuring the Lady Sif, volume 2! Which is great because I have volume 1 and volume 2 was just one of those books that I really wanted to get but was never a high enough priority for me to just buy myself. So thank you, gifter! It's much appreciated. I hope you get to see this.

Seeing as my whole month is basically turned sideways and I may not have much extra spending cash (haven't been to a comic shop in 3 weeks, and I read my first comic in 2 weeks this morning.) I may not be able to spread the cheer this year. You'll all just have to accept my cheerful disposition as your gift. It's almost as good as material gains. Almost.

Another Joyeux Noel from 3P5RFH9G03V0J (ca)!

Just as a quick heads up unless there's a /co/ relevant show on tonight (I've gone full cord cutter so I don't really know what any TV schedules are) I was going to set up another movie stream! Otherwise I'll shift it to tomorrow night.

Since it's the weekend it'll be a double feature! I'll unveil it closer to show time, but I'll say designated dave might be pleased.
