This gives me a lot of hope. To be honest, I'm a big fan of all comic book movies. I don't really understand the company wars.
But I'm getting a bit tired of how formulaic Marvel is.
I feel like DC is tackling real issues and making movies people can argue about and somewhat talk about and discuss considering the thematic content.
I think the Affleck casting was a huge gamble but for some reason it seems like they really care about these movies and I'm not sure why people are always hopping on the Snyder hate train. I want to see movies made by people who care about the characters.

Alternatively, I watched MoS years ago, and am haunted by it.
I think Donner had balls and vision. I think Burton had balls and vision. I think Nolan had balls and vision. Snyder comes off to me as another Schumacher. Vision out the ass with no balls to stand up against the studio. Affleck has balls and vision though. If he is hype, I trust him. If he says trust Tsujihara, I'm willing to. He was promoted to his new position months before MoS, so I don't blame him for it. If he pushed back the entire expansion to reset the stance and direction of the whole thing, I can totally get behind it. After MoS though, I need to see BvS before completely buying in though.

I actually enjoyed Man of Steel because of the choices they made. I'm also a huge Superman fan, so it was a bit jarring, but I give them credit because I don't think anyone expected some of the things they did in this movie and the trailer for BvS proves that they plan to build on their choices and not brush them under the rug.

I don't know, it takes some serious balls to make Superman kill the last survivor of his race on his first day. I think he was hindered by Goyer honestly, who was coming off of 3 very successful Batman movies. The studio wanted a Nolan copy, which isn't Snyder's style. BvS looks way more like his style, it's crazy how different it looks to MoS visually already.

After the backlash I don't think they had a choice, anon. Personally, I like what Zack Snyder said he was trying to do in MoS. I just don't like how he did it. I think the same premise done with a few changes could have very easily been loved by me. Hopefully Affleck and Tsujihara made those types of changes to BvS, and it as well as the movies that follow can go from movies I could have loved to movies I love. I don't like not liking MoS. I wish I could, and nothing would make me happier than loving BvS and everything after it.

it's WB that makes the movie decisions, and super hero movies weren't really insanely profitable for them until Nolan's trilogy. I mean they made money on them, but they weren't a tentpole attraction like Harry Potter & LOTR were. They were making a JL movie long before avengers but writer's strike fucked that pretty bad.
Avengers making loads of cash combined with Nolan's movies probably lit the fire under their asses.
GL was planned to launch their universe but it sucked dick and flopped so they didn't want to use that. So contrary to a lot of shit posting, they didn't rush into justice league otherwise we would have had it by now with Ryan Reynolds as GL.
Man of Steel wasn't intended to be a launchpad, but Snyder did build enough room within the movie to expand on it, he added elements of other dc properties in post production after they decided to launch off that movie.
For me, I consider BvS to be their first real effort, especially since Kevin T came onboard after MoS came out, and from all accounts looks to be interested in making it succeed.
