I think /co/ was right, the weapons are getting worse now that monty's gone. I really was expecting something neater out of Winter's sword. Seriously? Another sword? Why not just carry the second one on her hip? What possible purpose could hiding it inside your main sword serve?

I think for Weiss and Winter at least, their primary weapons seem to be the dust glyphs more than anything. As for hiding the sword within the sword? Plot Device/ Practicality of not having to sheathe/carry two seperate swords/ Anime Physics etc.
Other anons have gotten to it before me but yeah. Qrow's weapon is a combo Scythe, Sword and Double Barreled Shotgun/cannon thing.

my biggest gripe with the latest chapter of RWBY is that Winter doesn't sound hot.
I wasn't too sure about Qrow's voice actor choice until I heard the back & forth with Ruby which really sold Vic for me, but I haven't had that moment with Winter's VA yet.

I'm really enjoying it, and it's something to look forward to each week rather than something to remember and tolerate. The fights have definitely suffered, but Qrow versus Winter was pretty good, if not exactly Monty levels of good. The plot's actually materializing, and we're getting enough details to be intrigued, but few enough to stay hungry for more.
If the trend continues, I think this could be the season we hit our stride.

It's pretty clear we're entering the "Empire Strikes Back" part of the story.
The bad guys plans are going to go off, the heroes will fight it and will generally lose and things will look like the villains have won setting up for the next season where the heroes manage to pull through.
Pretty basic storytelling, but it works.

It's safe to assume that this "unseen enemy" that Qroq and co refuse to refer to by name is a lot bigger than the White Fang. It's likely whoever Cinder and her group are working for. Remember how they said that fear brings the Grimm? They're aiding the White Fang because they want to start another Human Faunus war, or at least spread a lot of mayhem and destruction. The chaos caused by this will empower the Grimm. Cinder's boss is likely connected to the Grimm, probably a really big, ancient, evil, intelligent one. Since Cinder's last name is Fall, she's likely Autumn, having been turned evil by said ancient evil Grimm.
Now the real questions are how advancing in the tournament benefits them, as it will only bring more attention to the team, and if this greater evil's goal is something beyond just destroying the world.
