Time for some eurocomics.
Blacksad is a franco-hispanic detective comic published in 2000. The series currently has 6 issues.
And more importantly, it's fucking awesome.
>>77429988
Credits and foreword, the actual comic begins on page 8.
>>77429996
>>77430002
The artist uses watercolor. It makes for quite a distinct look.
>>77430012
Takes some time to paint, too. When asked "what happens when you make a mistake during the coloring ?", he answered "You don't make mistakes, or you redo the entire page"
>>77430031
>>77430035
Alright, now the story begins.
>>77430043
Considering that this is a blue board and that blacksad is dangerously close to furry, all the nippples have been (expertly) censored.
>>77430048
Blacksad has a noticable art shift toward more realistic faces and less cartoony expressions after issue 2
>>77430055
Though there are still some characters providing exagerated expressions for comic relief, like Weekly.
>>77430060
>>77430066
It was the last nude woman of the book. Now let's get back to the parts where fists and guns do the talking.
>>77430048
cartoon nipples are the BEST! BOOOOOO!
>>77430073
ON a sidenote, the artist made his own mother pose for drawing the feminine hands and ballerinas.
is this considered furry?
>>77430084
>>77430093
>>77430090
I don't see why it would be targeted by the wrath of the mods, we regularly have Usagi Yojimbo and Endtown threads here.
Even Stan Lee supports this comic.
>>77430093
fuck yeah Blaksad!
>>77430111
>>77430075
I hesitated posting it on /aco/, but since it's not an adult comic in the first place...And if you like cartoon nipples, you will be very happy with issue 3.
>>77430123
The Cypher clup is a reference to Louis Cypher from Angel Heart by Allan Parker.

I have to admit, this snake is classy as fuck.

It's Wally from Endtown !

That page is what made me fall in love with this comic in the first place. It's gorgeous and the paneling of the previous pages leads perfectly to it. /fangirl
The first draft had this page upside down to accentuate the disarray, but it made it difficult to apprehend so it was changed.
>>77430246
>>77430248
I feel like I could make a knock-knock joke here.
>>77430251
The climax of this comic is shoot like a movie scene.
It's particularly noticeable in this page and the next one.
>>77430257
I'm not gonna name the specific movements since I don't know the cinema lexicon in english, but you get the idea.
>>77430261
>>77430264
>>77430261
>>77430257
>this smug lizard
>>77430264You usually don't shoot yourself in the forehead, but I can't blame Blacksad for not thinking about the details at the moment.
>>77430269
>>77430268
After all, they are allcold-blooded killers.
>>77430277
Smirnov and the lieutenant make an hilarious comeback in issue 3.
>>77430279
>>77430283
I've heard that there are two ordinary human women hidden in this book, but I've never found them.
>>77430289
>filthy european mexicans
I had a friend who after reading this was disappointed at how simple the whole thing was, saying that most the original noir stories are quite deep and complicated. Any examples of comics like that?
>>77430291
And that's all folks ! Hope you liked it.
Let me know if you have questions or want me to storytime the rest, I like to talk about comics a lot, and particularly about Blacksad.
>>77430296
Issue 2 (artic nation) is on a whole different level.
About detective euro-comics, XIII and Largo Winch are quite good, and Gil St-Andre has a lot of fans. There is also a lot of adaptations from movies or books, but the quality may vary.
>>77430340
Thanks I'll be sure to point those out to him.
>>77430289
I think I've found three candidates for those 'human women';
>>77430084
Second panel. A few of the very distant ladies in the background seem to be without distinguishing ears or noses to signify their species.
>>77430208
Third panel. The lady clutching against the fella in front of Blacksad. Doesn't have any distinguishing ears, but might have an animal's nose.
>>77430248
Second panel. The lone visible lady in the background. No animal ears, nose almost looks human, as human as a distant background character could look in a comic.
>>77430426
I think the only one in this list that works is the ballerina, the other two look like animal people still
>>77430538
It's possible that both are in the Ballerinas panel. Both in the extreme background- though one has a hairline that almost looks like an animal ear.
>>77430306
I'd love to see more, I've only seen this first issue. Are you up to storytiming the rest?
>>77430599
Yes, I have issues 2 and 3 (respectively kkk and cold war themed) ; though they are fantranslated, I didn't detect any glaring error.
I have to go to work soon, but I will dump them when I come back.
>>77430645
Awesome! Here or in a separate thread?
Glad you posted this OP, an asshole in the Zootopia thread was shit talking Blacksad not too long ago, now people can decide for themselves if they care about Blacksad or not
How is it that the Blacksad mysteries are never good, but the writing is great?
As always, thanks for the storytime.
Storytiming Arctic Nation next?
Has anyone ever storytimed Grandeville?
>>77434072
>that donald duck spoof
loving it already
>>77434072
>Storytiming Arctic Nation next?
Indeed.
>>77435089
Sorry for the small font, it's the only english version I've found.
>>77430048
My guess, someone was mad he couldn't get any pussy.
>>77435237
>discrete investigator
>>77435285
I confess, this president would get my vote.
>>77435107
There's an English translation made by Dark Horse that has the first three stories.
You can find a torrent of it and unpack it to upload the individual pages.
>>77435115
Weekly is my favorite.
>>77435323
>>77435316
Damn, I'll check it out for Red Soul. Thanks for the info, still.
>>77435385
the translation on the previous page is a bit off.
Instead of "don't touch the beauty mark" it should be something like "give me a single mole and it'll be the last thing you'll ever do". Lack of space I guess.
>>77435369
The same torrent also has the Dark Horse versions of A Silent Hell and Amarillo.
>>77435419Does this still count as interracial ? On one hand they're both white supremacists, but on the other hand one it's a fox and a doe.
>>77435454
It's about ethics in photo-journalism.
>>77435419
so...is the white tiger like a mulatto?
>>77435503
>>77435498
>mulatto
It may be, though I suspect it's more about the huge inbreeding problem that cheetahs have. The authors have stated that the species employed refers to personality first.
It's a bit corny but hey I like it and the arts is amazing.
Is it still an ongoing or the serie ended?
>>77435582
I am vengeance, I am the night,...
And the last panel of the previous page should be "I've not killed anybody... yet."
>>77435618
>>77435602
Ongoing, with 6 issues published. Most adventures can be read independantly, thoug, even if there is some recurring characters and lasting changes.
>>77435742
Censoring ALL the nipples.
>>77435817
ENough with the fish, captcha ! It the eighth time.
>>77435927
straight to the point i see
>>77435983
>screw you, Huk !
>>77436049
THose are the inner covers, they serve as an epilogue and a link between stories. So next time we'll find our hero in Las Vegas.
>>77436049
And that's all for today folks. I'll do Red Soul tommorw if the other anon with the scans doesn't post it in the meantime (fell free to do so btw).
Hope you all liked seeing childs kidnapped and women murdered.
>>77436069
you gonna storytime the next one?
youre doing great work mate
>>77436115
Damn, I really have to proofread my posts.
