>>2993157
I mostly watch for the plot tb͏h with the gay an added bonus although I've been busy of late
>>2993158
Understandable, but I can't help feeling a little sad at the prospect of people from our comfy little thread abandoning ship. The love triangle is retarded on every level imaginable, but surely the boys are good enough to warrant sticking with?
>>2993160
Dunno, fans can get pretty entitled. I'm surprised that this would be enough though - I actually think it's pretty funny. OF ALL PEOPLE, kudelia decides she's going to fall for mika??? seriously?? with charming, handsome, NOT AN ATTACK DOG, leader orga right there?
It's funny.
>>2993161
It's kind of hilarious, right? Even if you totally removed Orga from the picture, Kudelia falling for Mika would still be painfully contrived.
Not only are they from such wildly different backgrounds that lead to completely different trajectories in life, she's watched him shoot a guy and nearly choke the life out of another. If Kudelia herself came from poverty and witnessed this kind of violence with any degree of regularity then there'd be nothing amiss here, but that's not the case. This girl is sheltered. She's fucking immaculate. And Sunrise wants me to have total faith in the idea of her being attracted to him instead of horrified? I can let a lot of things go in the name of entertaining fiction, but this crush is so stupid you can't even chalk it up to the illogical way of human emotions. It's just dumb.
I'm no big fan of Atra, but at least her attachment to Mika despite his murderous tendencies makes an iota of sense given their relatively similar socioeconomic backgrounds. There's no excuse for Kudelia.
>>2993163
/Exactly/. At least with Orga you've got that ~sheltered princess falling for the charming rogue~ thing. She didn't see him choke garma but she sure as shit saw him hop out of the Barbados to shoot someone dead.
I honestly like to think about the things Atra jonesing for Mika says about what courtship is probably like in favela Mars, but that's neither here nor there.
>>2993164
>At least with Orga you've got that ~sheltered princess falling for the charming rogue~ thing.
Exactly this. Kudelia falling for Orga wouldn't be out of place at all and could actually make for an interesting plot element since he could use her for resources and social standing, if the interpretation of Orga having a manipulative streak still holds any water. I'd take zero issue with her liking him.
It's just that a crush on Mika of all people is not only unbelievable, it comes dangerously close to undermining what Kudelia's defining trait is in the first place: the fact that she's plenty familiar with poverty on a conceptual level, but completely unequipped to face it realistically. She initially saw the orphans as an opportunity of sorts for her to get an up close and personal look at child labor, of all things. Barring how demeaning and insensitive that was of her, it communicates that she's way out of her depth with these kids and has a lot to learn about the way someone like Mika operates. The fact that he more or less embodies the total disparity between what she expected and what she got should steer her away from being comfortable enough to have a crush on him.
>>2993163
>she's watched him shoot a guy and nearly choke the life out of another.
>she's watched him shoot a guy and nearly choke the life out of another.
Actually no. She's watched him fight in mobile suit battle, which is akin to watching fighter pilots and then one goes down-- the only one who saw him and crank's last moments was Barbatos, the others would only be able to hear gunshots at most, but not the actual kill. As for choking gaelio, she and fumitan arrived AFTER Sakura got him to stop. Kudelia and Atra both have not witnessed Mika kill in an upclose and clear way it does make a difference.
The one truly intimate with all aspects of Mika is Orga.
>>2993171
>which is akin to watching fighter pilots and then one goes down--
I don't know if it's quite that impersonal, seeing as Mika put Barbatos' lance clean through Crank's suit. I think with watching fighter jets go down, you can remove the violence from the situation somewhat by saying the crash is what ultimately kills the enemy pilot, even if logically it doesn't hold up. Seeing somebody potentially impaled through a cockpit and then hearing the gunshot that finishes the job is a little harder to explain away in some kinder fashion. It's not quite as horrific if she stood three feet away while Mika stabbed somebody to death or something, but it's still a pretty stark indicator that Mika is no friend to anyone who stands in the way of his and his comrades' survival. And that should be scary to Kudelia, since survival isn't something she's ever had to even think about, much less put blood on her hands for.
You're right that she didn't witness the choking, although it seems like she would have figured out what went down by Gayleo clutching his neck like that. But even then, knowing somebody nearly strangled someone is different from actually watching it happen. Leads me to wonder how she'll react if she actually does get to see Mika go ballistic on someone up close.
I wish Sunrise would realize what a good thing they have here with Orga and Mika's relationship. Their chemistry is insane. Why not focus on that strength instead of forcing some love triangle?
>>2993174
To be honest, I see the Orga/Mika relationship as sickly codependent: Mika surrenders his free will (which he obviously has) to Orga to do as he deems fit, and Orga willingly exploits Mika's unconditional trust to do questionable shit that he can't/won't do. I still think that he had him execute the First Group prisoners because at the time of truth his hand would've shaken and he could not afford to show any form of weakness as a leader. There's this idea that Orga has to die or betray Mika in order for him to grow up, but I don't see it happening - I think Orga has just as much growing up to do, and part of it involves not relying on Mika as much.
Now, the Kudelia thing. Mika is shown to be uncaring or hostile to anyone outside of his group, and a cool guy with those inside. He's closer to Orga, yes, but he feels for all the other Tekkadan kids: you could see him hurt and angry thinking of the ones that died during the raid. Kudelia was simply just a random girl at first to him, which is why he was cold and tactless towards her in the first two episodes. It's why he doesn't think twice about choking the life of Gaelio (outgroup) because he thought he hurt Cookie and Cracker (ingroup) But now that Kudelia is in the shit together with them and doing what she can to keep Tekkadan running, she's part of Mika's group now, which is why he's mellowed down and trying to keep her in high spirits. You could even see it in purely mercenary terms (as long as Kudelia is happy, we get money, if she is depressed and backs out of the job we're SOL) if you wish, but it makes sense that Mika is making approaches even if they're kind of awkward.
(From a shipping point of view I'd like Mika/Takaki but I know better. Kinkmeme anon, hurry up!)
>>2993175
Codependency is definitely the name of the game with Orga and Mika, but in some odd way I think that sort of adds to their almost unusual compatibility. Or maybe it's the other way around - they're so compatible that it made them all the more prone to getting comfortable with this sort of dynamic. Either way, their interactions up until now have flowed so naturally and so believably that I damn near forget how fucked up it is that Orga can say "Jump because I don't want to" and Mika will essentially reply "Alright, how high?".
See, I don't mind Mika's relative friendliness towards Kudelia - I think I actually said something in the last thread about how much of a relief it was for his reasoning making sense when he sought her out to go to the corn fields with him. All that is completely in line with his established character thus far. What I take issue with is Kudelia's crush on Mika, not just for the reasons I've outlined in previous posts, but because there's an infinitely more believable option in Orga and Sunrise is completely shirking it in favor of something that makes zero sense. Mika's behavior hasn't been out of line at all, it's Kudelia's romantic notions that are contrived to the core. It's not just bad for the show, it's kind of a disservice to her too.
Why does Mika's suit have a crotch hole?
>>2993198
For the sole purpose of kink meme prompts. And lewd fanart.
>>2993198
Easier access to and visibility of that girth. Important things to consider when designing a pilot suit.
I realized out of nowhere that Biscuit has the cutest, most soothing voice ever. Did anyone else notice this? Does anyone else really fucking want to hug Biscuit now?
>>2993190
I agree with this. Kudelia is already a Hime character, which is usually awful, so the last thing she needs is to be turned into a blushing, love struck girl. That does away with whatever potential her character might have.
And yes, it comes across as highly contrived. I too think that if she were to develop feelings for anyone, Orga would be a much more likely option. This crush on Mika strikes me as the MC effect, in which girls will fall for the MC mostly because he is, well, the MC.
And the love triangle is a cringe worthy thing.
>>2993198
This actually makes sense from a practical point of view as during long battles pilots will have to use the bathroom eventually and can't exactly afford to remove the whole suit.
>>2993198
>>2993205
I've wanted to hug him since he was revealed.
And I honestly expected his voice to be a lot deeper, though I've got no problem with what we got.
>>2993225
>>2993205
well if you want lewd biscuit voice, he's the same VA as Inaho from Aldnoah Zero, Hanae's actually using a lower voice than a lot of his other early characters, and people did make lewd sound clips. he's done full blown BL cds also, but not really with that lower voice.
it's a great voice, I agree
>>2993198
>>2993222
>This actually makes sense from a practical point of view as during long battles pilots will have to use the bathroom eventually and can't exactly afford to remove the whole suit.
I'm surprised no one has brought up G-Reco in an Orphans thread, but then I remembered we're in CM. So in light of that, toilet breaks. yes.
Carry on then!
>>2993240
I remembered there was a bathroom scene inside a Gundam in G-Reco but I can't recall if the flight suit had crotch holes.
Either way, the suits in Tekkadan are way more realistic than the ones in 00, that's for sure.
>>2993245
zipper from front to back, iirc.
as for tekkadan, It's funny that their tanktops are cut below the AV ports on their backs, but they still piloted shirtless. yay! I do miss plot definition though. I was nice seeing gundam nipples.
>>2993247
Maybe mobile workers get lousy hot when active.
we also could have had catheters, like in Sidonia. but hey, I prefer crotch holes
on the topic of exploitable mecha-related scenes though, I miss the insertion scene between Barbatos and Mika. We got gypped this episode!
>>2993250
>Maybe mobile workers get lousy hot when active.
probably, yes, thats the most plausible, though those things are threadbare. Orga still kept his scarf, too. Thats the commander for you.
Damn, I really miss the land battles. I hope they fight again on Earth, if not returning to Mars.
>>2993254
Same, though this was an amazing space fight.
>>2993251
True but I can imagine catheters leading to all sorts of trouble considering how dirty and grimy everything is.
>>2993256
I feel they could have done more with how many grazes were surrounding Mika, but watching Coral eat lead was just so satisfying.
>>2993257
>>2993251
huh, now that I think about it, the Gundam universe has always been in a way that space travel is relatively short. They're 5 days from Earth (according to Orga in ep1?) but that's by ship. MS and MA are not expected to be long mission use... and probably not designed to be what with all the fuel they burn.
anyway, the color blocks of the tekkadan pilot suits didn't jive with me at first, I actually prefer the vertical line designs like in Seed earth forces and Gundam 00 CB suits, but it's also because Mika is so damn short!?
because it looks fine on Eugene, like a basic utility suit.
>>2993223
this is a cool idea, if it's actually layered.
>>2993258
Pile bunkered to shit, fitting end for a corrupt asshole. On that note, I really like that the focus on solid projectiles and melee weapons means that there are no conveniently debris-clearing explosions - Coral gets fucked up, and his suit ends up floating in space eerily.. Plus, suits can take damage and be worn down without playing rocket tag with each other, which is a refreshing change of pace from other mecha series.
I'm curious - how many people here are /m/ goers fleeing from the rampant shitposting?
>>2993261
I am, there are gems in /m/ once in a while, but the this is just overwhelming now. It's comfy here, though I feel bad I can't post pics since I'm mostly on mobile and I dont like to upload too much from my phone. I'll help with updating the twitter/pixiv tag list later though, there are a few new search terms to add.
as for the contact fighting, I can't agree more. I love some rainbow sparkly bullshit, sure, but that shot lancer is the best thing I like about Barbatos. I loved close contact fighting in Gundam 00 also, which explains my Exia infatuation.. People have suggested to watch Break Blade if you like this style, and I should get around to that since It's only a few OAV eps and so very long until next sunday.
>>2993275
>but the shit is just overwhelming now
corrected.
>>2993259
I liked 00's suits a lot myself but you could tell that CB must be swimming in money to give each pilot a color specific suit. And later they did the same with those weird short jacket uniforms in S2.
I suspect that in Tekka most of the outfits for the orphans are one size fits all, which is why Mika is always wearing oversized stuff. As opposed to 00 with the provably costume made suits.
>>2993261
I'm from /m/, I like these threads more than the shitposting over there. So many angry G reco fans, I just want to talk about IBO why must every other post be a butthurt comparison? The gay is a plus.
>>2993286
yeah. there's also the fact that too many people on /m/ don't understand the basics of anime production. There's no way IBO wasn't drafted out or in the works during the same or before G-Reco, or even before Aniplex was drafting Aldnoah Zero, but even within sunrise the staffs are completely different in terms of writing and production, G-Reco was pushed hard and had some great moments, but being a Tomino show meant a whole set of rules compared to something like IBO's staff. It's also the people on /a/ who can't just let IBO be what it is and what Aldnoah be what it was, can't stand the /a/ shitposting either.
this is just a driveby comment, but I like when people on here go into why they like this or that scene or character, group examining the codependency between Mika and Orga or the subtle reveals with Gjallahorn homos and motivations is all the same fun to me as spazzing about gundam titties and giving the characters nicknames like in Gundam 00. I'll stick around here and discuss, and sure agree that the gay is a plus.
>>2993278
the super sentai colors were fun, gotta admit that. but I also liked that the Meisters had their own individual style for "casual wear". Tekkadan uniforms are cool and cement that band of brothers feel, but I think it would be cool to get some alternate clothes for them too. Kudelia being the only one with money to change her clothes every other day is unfair.
How big is his dick anons
>>2993308
It's a cute dick. >>>/y/2215029
>>2993294
I agree, it was fun seeing how each Meister dressed as a civilian. Except for Tieria's horrendous pink cardigan but even that ended up growing on me..sort of.
It was funny how in 00 the suits matched the actual Gundam's color scheme, minus Tieria whose suit matched the hair.
With some luck we'll get to see the IBO boys wearing some casual clothes once they get to Earth. And let's hope most are still alive by then.

so far Yamagi is a really mellow but really reliable crew member, and all their slang speak really improves the show. Hell, even Orga's way of speaking already puts this above gundam 00 for me. but I'm just really into punk characters.

randomly, is Eugene the 3rd best pilot in their group? I know the 3 whisker close ups in the OP are Orga, Akihiro and Mikazuki, but Orga doesn't pilot and in the ep2 mock battle,I think it was 3 way battle between Eugene (shot down early) Akihiro and Mika. or was Norba in there too?
anyway I think Eugene being 3rd rank could be confirmed somewhere
>>2993446

I think Norba is the third best, since he had a mobile worker with a custom paintjob on the first episode's battle. You can see it when they stop to watch Orga and Eugene haul ass to lure the Graze into Mika's range.
>>2993170
I agree. Kudelia falling for Mika, almost right away, reeks of 'I love you because you're the MC'. It feels very ham-fisted, too. They should at least add some conflict but turning Kudelia into the typical blushing girl is just awful.

Being a two syllable word, odds are one will run into a lot of unrelated results if using it alone.
>>2993739
Followed by colony dropping the Earth. Sure there are no colonies in this continuity but they can always build one. And then drop it. Or even build one for the purpose of dropping it.

Is there an abbreviation in Korean for gundam tekketsu that it can be combo'd with?
>>2993746
>>2993746
I'm not sure if this will be of any help but the full name of the series seems to be this, in Korean:
[기동전사 건담 철혈의 오펀스]
[철혈의 오펀스] Applies to IBO in particular
[건담] is 'Gundam'
[기동전사] Kidou Senshi (it's either translated or transliterated into Korean but it boils down to the same)

thanks, I know someone who'll appreciate it.

>Orga: Are you eating those things again?
>Mika: Want one?
>Orga: Okay, just one.
>Mika: Here.
>Takaki: He is always eating those Mars nuts.
>Orga: Mmm... tasty.
>Takaki: Mikazuki must have liked them for a long time. Did Orga know? Oh, he's eating them.
>Takaki: That's nice. That's nice. I'm jealous.
>>2993744
>Orga: ...just one is enough, thanks.
>Takaki: I envy Orga, who is always with Mikazuki. And that lady that showed up from nowhere.
>Takaki: And that girl that made him the accessory on his wrist.
>Takaki: And Akihiro, who trains with him in the night. And Eugene, who goes out with him to exercises.
>Takaki: And the soldiers he shot yesterday, too.
>Takaki: I envy everything he sets his eyes on.
>Takaki: I want you. I want you. Mikazuki...
>Takaki: I want your everything---
>Mika: Takaki.
>>2993745
>Takaki: ...Mikazuki?
>Mika: Here.
>Mika: You looked like you wanted some badly, so have some.
>Takaki: Thank you so much! I've wanted these for so long! I'll treasure them forever!
>Mika: No, just eat them.
>>2993825
Thank you, oh gosh Takaki don't give up the fight

That's what it says in the box and Gaelio seems snobbish enough to got for that kind of thing.
No wonder McChar asks him if he's his girlfriend.
WET TIMES AHEAD
Coming soon to Animedia.
Anyone else watch the livestream just now?
Maybe I'm just feeling bitter or it'll all be better with subs or something, but this episode was fucking annoying. If this trend continues where Mika is flanked by Atra and Kudelia for 23 minutes and then gets all of 30 seconds to spend with Orga, I'm going to be watching the rest of this show in misery. Christ.
>>2994207
I just watched it, Kudelia was cockblocked by the whole shotasquad, but he was smooth with Atra during their exchange "you're not scared?" "no, besides I have this *bracelet charm*"
Takaki and Mika are working hard together and Mika gets to explain to Kudelia how Takaki is with them since very young and always works hard (He's been watchinf over Takaki for longer than he does for Atra)
Meanwhile Orga has a long moment reaffirming his bond with Mika to Biscuit, then Mika and Orga have a heart to heart before sirens. It's pretty solid stuff. The comments about Orga's "homo obsession" were making rounds on twitter
We all know, no matter what these girls try, they'll never be closer to Mika than Orga is.
>>2994207
Also Mika and Akihiro have a simulator date.
Lots of guys still in the Mikabowl
>>2994209
Well I guess what I mean to say, even if Orga and Mika aren't in screen together and even if Mika is flanked by the girls, he actually frames all his actions in relation to Orga, and Orga does the same. Before we know Mika does things "because Orga told me too" but now it's also Orga stays strong "Because Mika is showing me the way" something like that. Subs will clear it up. But still, shared screen time is nothing, they're both in each other's main focus, and they express their motivations that way
>>2994209
>We all know, no matter what these girls try, they'll never be closer to Mika than Orga is.
You're right, and I should focus on that. The girls might get to follow Mika around, but he doesn't light up with that adorable smile and instantly become relaxed around them like he does when Orga shows up. I think I just have to remember now and then that Orga won the Mikabowl years ago no matter what kind of contrived forced het is thrown our way.
>>2994210
Oh good, so I did understand that part correctly. Most excellent.
>>2994212
Also, during the heart to heart, Orga brought up Their Place. There's another tweet going around that theorizes the ED sequence-- mika coming out of barbatos and that image of everyong on Barbatos in a field of plenty-- that's a dream or ideal "place" where he wants them to all belong, or achieve. But, it's a dream... So can they really go there? That peaceful scene...
>>2994207
First week I missed it.
Go post some kink meme prompts, iron blooded homos. I'm in the mood to write something but none of the ideas on there are pinging me.
I want to sit by Takaki's side and spend the evening teaching him how to write while he blushes as he trips over his tongue trying to read ;w;
>that groaning while doing pull ups
Too lewd. He was so good last episode, too. Truly the bestest boy.
Those shota twins are really cute. Kudelia teaching session also cute but I hate the whole Kudelia x Atra rivalry everyone keeps pushing, I think they're getting along just fine.
Well?
>>2994270
dat codependency is delicious.
>>2994207
I am not opposed to hetshit at all but Mika/Kudelia is extremely uncompelling. Only way I could be interested is if Mika has a childish crush on her later and it's one-directional even though Kudelia was the one blushing so far. Atra is an annoying character but less annoying now that you see her doing slave work like the boys, making lunch for them and stuff instead of bitching/whining.
>>2994265
I'm really glad their rivalry isn't a thing in the show. Two chicks fighting over a guy is rarely ever done well or not a fucking pain.
Does anyone else feel like things are moving a bit too slowly? Like I know we've got things happening every episode for the most part, but the show feels like it's meandering and taking its time, which could turn out fairly bad if it keeps up. We're already a quarter of the way through, and this series is only 26ish episodes if I remember right.
And sorry about the hetshit, but after this ep I still think Mika and Atra would be cuter together than this dumb hime pairing we're getting. I'm imagining them in their 20's owning a farm somewhere and it's pretty adorable.
>>2994280
Its pace is about as fast as that of Gurren Lagann, and you know just how that escalated.
>>2994272
>Atra is an annoying character but less annoying now that you see her doing slave work like the boys, making lunch for them and stuff instead of bitching/whining.
See, even this fucking irritates me because there's no reason the boys can't prepare their own food like they normally do, or eat MREs as soldiers tend to, or fall back on basically any solution that doesn't involve inviting non-essential personnel on a dangerous mission with limited resources.
I understand that the Tekkadan are only children and that children don't have the strongest sense of logic, but I would think these kids would know that allowing a civilian who is not their client to board a ship that's going to be attacked mercilessly by enemy military forces is not a good idea. She is seriously only here because the writers are being obnoxious and wedging her into places she doesn't belong so that she can follow Mika around and blush a lot.
At least if anyone tries to say Mika has a crush on her because he huffed that bracelet for one episode, it can be countered by the fact that he enabled her into accompanying them on a mission where she could be killed with no way to defend herself whatsoever. Not exactly what I'd call the biggest indicator of romantic feelings.
>>2994280
>I'm really glad their rivalry isn't a thing in the show. Two chicks fighting over a guy is rarely ever done well or not a fucking pain.
I was just thinking after the livestream last night that it feels like they're trying to make Kudelia and Atra the next Sheryl and Ranka. And I really, really don't want that nonsense in a show that manages to be completely solid outside its dealings with the female cast.
>no more tanktops
Oh well. Akihiro still refuses to wear clothes it seems.
Why is Takaki best boy?
Why am I so afraid something will happen to him?
>>2994305
I liked Sheryl and Ranka, and Misa and Minmay for that matter.
Wouldn't work here though.
>>2994308
Nothing gold can stay.
>>2994304
At least Atra at least has some use even if I agree it makes little to no sense to endanger her by taking her on the mission. But I am thinking of all those UC shows where they had an actual kindergarten of almost toddlers on board, it was cringe inducing. And the ship was run by adults in all these, too.
>>2994305
God, the Sheryl/Ranka thing was deadful.
>>2994319
I liked Sheryl and Ranka, they actually felt like rivals without being assholes to each other. Sheryl was hot blooded in her own idol-y way, and Ranka was cute too.
gao~
gaoo~
Cool pic. Don't get triggered by the female.
