i'm going to my friend's party tomorrow and probably gonna get my first taste of alcoholic drink (not sure which one it is, i was a total beta and didn't have any experience with them)
what should i expect? how was your first alcoholic drink experience?

If you have your choice, try to choose something that is sweet and/or light on alcohol content (like a cider or a light beer). Don't go straight into do shots or something. You'll hate the taste and possibly vomit.

What's going to happen is either you don't really like the drinks and you stand awkwardly all night in the corner or you'll drink too much, make an ass of yourself and get sick.

My first drink was sangria, age 12, at my sisters 16th bday. Got utterly mogadored, haven't had it since. Drink something light, maybe an alcopop or something. Don't be tempted to drink it quickly, sip it and see how you feel. Also a good idea to have a good friend or someone you trust there too. Good luck.

Beer will taste disgusting. Don't even attempt a proper ale or stout.
Harder drinks like Whiskey or rum will cause you to make embarassing faces and make you much more likely to puke.
Try a mixer: rum and coke, VK+RB, any alcopop.
Failing that, try a cider, especially a dark fruit one.
Don't be tempted to show off, chances are, the second pint of whatever you hit will hit you like a train and if you try to follow it up quickly, you're gonna puke or lose control.
Sipping a dry wine is pretty safe. Not too harsh to be uncomfortable, and gets you used to the taste of alcohol.

Just get a friend that works in a chemistry/biology lab to get you a bottle of anhydrous ethanol and drink it. Best way to introduce yourself to the taste.

what should i buy, Evan Williams or Black Velvet whiskey? I got cola and lemon for the Evan already but the black velvet is cheaper so I can afford to get a juice chase with it like OJ. What do? Which will lead to fewer whiskey shits the next day?

OP, anything like a wine cooler is the best place to start, from Smirnoff to Mike's Hard Lemonades. All fruit juice cocktails, especially frozen ones. Alcohol really is an acquired taste. You start out with an aversion, hence why the flavor is masked with sugary goodness. Cold numbs flavor too, why ice cold beer is so cherished, and shaken cocktails til icy, go down easier.
I'd suggest some banana-lime daiquiris in the blender, or buying some coco lopez and good gold/dark rum for a good pina colada. A really good homemade sangria goes down easy too, need at least 2 shots of grand marnier, sliced grapes/apples/citrus fruit of choice, fresh squeezed OJ and a sweet red wine. You won't taste the alcohol! Are you a coffee fan? Try a kahlua and cream, baileys (very cold), or some B-52 shots. Lemon drops are good starter shots.
And, pair it with food! Dark beer with greasy heavy meat, lots of lime in the corona with your mexican nibbles, tequila shots inbetween some crazy hot salsa and chips. When tipsy for the first times? Food is soooooo delicious. You'll see! Sangria with your favorite tapas, cheeses, hot canapes

Evan Williams really isn't that bad. It's probably the best bourbon for its price, which isn't saying much, but it got me through my college years.

Alcohol is not a pleasant-tasting substance. If emotional misery had a flavor, alcohol is an approximation of what it would taste like. Drinking it in straight concentrated form is overtly masochistic.
The effects are a sensation of heat, giddiness, instability/clumsiness, and loss of inhibition. That last one is the whole point. For people who are too controlled, like me, that's a good thing. For people who are normally kind of unrestrained, that's a bit hazardous to bystanders.
Limit your intake this first time. I'd suggest you give yourself a hard limit of three alcoholic drinks for the whole night. A drink is one beer or one shot, and a mixed drink may contain more or less than a shot. This way you won't be staggering drunk, throw up, or have a hangover. Really, if you were concerned you ought to have bought a bottle of something and experimented.

Commandeer some chips. There's a reason bars have peanuts and pretzels on hand, they're tasty when interspersed of alcohol of any kind.
Don't sweat it. If you don't love what they give you, just hold on to it for the rest of the party. An empty hand or an empty glass is a sign of weakness.

My buddy was an asshole and gave me an "Arnold Palmer". Half mikes hard, half sweet tea vodka. Probably would be delicious now but goddamn it almost made me hate sweet tea.

When I first started drinking in high school I fucking hated the taste of alcohol. Imho there's no way you'll enjoy even a mixed drink (unless it's some real pussy shit like a wine cooler). Actually might wanna consider picking up a pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade.
But what I did was just take shots and immediately chase it down with soda after. The alcohol doesn't linger in your mouth long enough for the acrid taste to come thru and the soda actually makes it taste good in the end. Also carbonated liquids absorb faster so you'll get lit. Keep dark with dark (whiskey + Coke) and light with light (vodka + orange soda was my HS go-to).
Eventually you'll condition yourself to associate the taste of alcohol with good times/good vibes, then it will become a crutch to have a good time, then you'll need it just to not be depressed and feel normal, and then you can end up like one of many alcoholi/ck/s on here!

That being said I'd recommend mixing one of the clear liquors with something very sweet and limiting yourself to only two drinks. Quantity is going to be your enemy. Don't overdo it.
