To be honest I think the worst parts of the fandom will leave the moment the new shiny thing arrives. As much as I love it the game isn't that long and won't get any new content (at least for now) so it'll die down sooner or later.

The reason con cancers are a thing is because they're always things that run over a longer period of time, Hetalia, Naruto, Homestuck and Steven universe.
It's not like undertale is going to get a sequel (Toby seems pretty overwhelmed as it is and I doubt we'll even get hard mode at this point) and the game itself isn't long enough and has enough content to sustain the hype for that long.
This turned out a bit longer then I thought but I just get sick of people yelling that something will be the next con cancer when it's popular for a month or two. It's worse then being a hipster, just be glad a game you like is popular enough for it.

What do you guys think is the best way to do a Sans cosplay? I've seen a lot of people going with head masks, but I don't really like the look of those most of the time.
So I thought about doing like a white bald cap and face paint with the eyesockets, the nose and the teeth drawn on, as well as contact lenses (one white, one blue).
I've seen some people do that or something similar, but I feel like more people are going with masks.
Idk I feel like both methods are hard to pull off nicely, but which one do you guys like better?

I think the way the monsters are stylised, it's more "true" to go with a mask but at the same time stylised doesn't translate well into real life.

At the gameplay: You have to time your jumps so that you jump quick enough over the tiny bone, and then land in between the two so that the blue bone passes over you. Some people move aside as they do this but I can't get that down.

On the person you posted it looks like its two prosthetics (circled the edges) that she layered and continued the pattern to blend them better. Which is probably going to be hard to do because blending the edges of a prosthetic is annoying and Alphys doesn't seem to have a defined pattern (though i guess you can do a basic-ish reptile pattern)

Try Smoothcast 300 by Smooth on. It cures a bright white, can be died in the mixing stage for a more nuetral colour or desired yellow for Alphys

I've gone the cheap silicone caulking route for my mould. The resin was some polyester resin, don't remember the brand (Rayner? Something German sounding), but it's a type of resin you have to use like... 1% catalyst for? 40 drops per 400ml of resin.
I should add that I've mixed in acrylic paint (why it's looking yellow and black), which might not have helped with the curing. I read somewhere that it was fine to do so, but I've realised they were talking about epoxy resin. It's also getting pretty cold here. What is a good temperature for epoxy resin?
Interestingly enough I've cast some hinges too and those have cured fairly well, but they're still pretty pliable, so not usable at all.
I've ordered some epoxy resin locally. I know Smooth-on is considered some of the better stuff but I can't get it without paying out of my ass for shipping and then customs coming down on me as well. I will note it down though so if this attempt also goes belly-up I'll have something to fall back on. I don't mind spending/wasting a bit of money if it helps me figuring out some things for possible later resin castings.

The question keeps coming back, so I'll keep repeating my dumb answer: the monsters all have a distinct style. Masks are easier to pull off the style, yet might look too goofy irl.
I personally feel that what kills Sans facepaints is that in the game he's constantly grinning, with no "normal teeth line" (you only see his top teeth, if you get what I'm trying to say). You don't ever see him without that grin, to open his mouth for example, at least if I remember correctly. You try to paint that on a mouth, it's gonna look weird.
In contrast to what I mean, in your example the teeth end at the edge of the lips and that looks okay. I can't think of a way to do that with the goofy grin Sans has.

Should I use a corset for Mettaton? I wanted to emphasise the waist/hip/leg ratio a little, but I'm in danger of looking way too feminine already due to my face (I can't do very guy-looking guys, just effeminate males, which I guess is what Mettaton is but I would prefer to look more masculine). I don't have a super defined waist as it is but I feel like the metal chest parts are gonna make me look clunky so I considered it to balance out the proportions, even though I'd just be using it to bring in my waist rather than make it smaller. Only thing is, I'd still have to build the waist parts around the corset, so if something happens and I can't wear it on the day it's going to be too small to fit around me.

Google "knit a first sweater" or "knit an easy sweater" and there are lots of nice pictures and instructions. They're all mostly the same, the real only big difference among patterns is whether you knit in a circle or in pieces and how you attach the sleeves to the body
I think the key for this cartoony bagginess is to knit the arms and body too large but knit the ribbing at the wrists and hips fitted, you know so it makes the puff sleeve effect. Also use don't use needles that are too big for the yarn or the knit will be loose and not drape well.
Also be sure you knit a swatch so you know how many stitches you personally knit per inch! From there it's just multiplication to know how many stitches across to make.

I like the color you chose for your skin, but i'd love to see some contouring done so your face doesn't look as flat (I've seen some people use colored eyeshadow for wacky contouring of skintones like this)!!
Also would've loved to see the eye shadow blended out a bit more? But it also might work as is.. and lastly, the teeth look cool! Wish the yellow wasn't so blinding (contrasts a lot against the skin, but I suppose that can be a good thing too). Also, I really love the contacts!
Overall, a really good start, just a few nitpicky things that I think might improve the look!

I did that with my Mettaton, and I really like the way it looks, but there are things I definitely want to fix up and change about it. Namely, it looks odd without having some paneling on the side to make it look like it's part of your 'chassis' (something I'm fixing up now.) Without something to give the illusion of a false torso, it just looks like it's sticking out in front of your torso...

That's the one I'm going to do. We probably haven't seen any yet, because the build is more complex and is gonna take a bit of time compared to stuff like casual undyne, MTT EX, sans, frisk, etc.
i'd really love to do a lesser dog cosplay, but i dont think a fursuit would suit how small and cute their faces are. im considering buying a large stuffed animal dog, taking most of the stuffing out while reinforcing it to keep its shape, then crafting a longish neck with fur attached (not too long obviously, since i dont want the head falling off) to act as a sort of a mask that i put on. thought or suggestions would be helpful!

Is Papyrus wearing armor or a T-Shirt? I always interpreted it as a T-shirt because Sans said it was a costume. I'm imagining a dish towel, t-shirt and underwear.
But some artists have drawn it as a chest piece and crotch-plate.
I don't wanna be heckled for my interpretation being interpreted as me being a lazy, bad cosplayer. So I wanna know:
Your opinion on what papyrus is wearing.
If you think someone would be judged for purposely making a costume made by a dense skeleton and his lazy brother.

i think its armor (albeit cheaply made) due to the fact that it seems solid and umoving (a t shirt would be more drape-y and would take a rectangular shape, unless he's wearing a skintight shirt) and papyrus calls it his 'battle body' implying its at least supposed to be armor. i think its probably more canon to make it look cheap since it was supposed to be a simple costume, but i would opt for armor due to the fact that making it look like that would end up just looking like a lazy costume

pic i forgot to add- planning on going to get something like this, cut the head off and hollow it to make a kind of mask (as gruesome as it sounds). edit the ears, add more fur around the back to make a full mask and some around the neck, etc. is there any better ideas barring a fursuit? they usually look really creepy to me and have super big human eyes, which lesser dog doesn't have
