That's what I thought too, unless they did wildly branching new stories somehow. I always liked Tifa and didn't care about Aeristh, so I never cared for that rumor except that it would be the Ultimate Secret.

Judging by how integral to the fandom/ 7-franchise they've become, it's easy to forget that they were ever optional/ secret. I'd imagine they get integrated in the story better.
