Well, here it is. Most of it is the Mado folder, but there are some others in there. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did making it over the course of two and a half years.

Some good stuff within, although I wish the gore was contained to its own folder. God knows Mado doesn't deserve any more abuse.

I've just started this game, may anyone please point me towards what I'm supposed to do? I've gotten a few effects but they don't seem to do much. I would look on the wiki or something but I don't want to be spoiled.

You're trying to collect all the effects, and only a few of them are useful for something. Just keep wandering around and you'll keep discovering new areas.
Honestly, if you want to complete the game in a reasonable amount of time, you'll probably end up needing to check the wiki at some point.

The "point" of the game is to find them all, but in all honest Yume Nikki isn't like a normal game in that regard. Seeing the scenery, listening to the music, and uncovering events soon becomes the draw factor. It's very atmospheric

I did realize that after the instructions came up, I figured that a big part of the game is wandering around experiencing and finding stuff. I just wanted to know if I was doing it "right".
I've been playing it by myself at night and I went into the room with the guillotine and got really uncomfortable when the music changed and then freaked out when I realized that the two tall people were chasing me. Unfortunately I already knew about the room with the lightswitch, so I didn't fall for that. I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can find, or what else finds me.
