Thoughts on tradesmen as a job?

I'm a sophomore in college majoring in Stats but dislike it. Is being an electrician a good idea? How long until you can work independently?

>no boss to report to
>could start your own business eventually
>labor is minimal
>no degree bs required
>fulfilling and productive job

Literally almost all of those are the opposite.

Generally long hours. You can't just leave early in the middle of important projects.

Uhh you have a boss.

You could do this with anything. You can start your own business right now if you wanted to.

Labor is the name of the career.

No but thousands of hours in apprenticeship and certifications.

This is subjective.
