I think Chevron Corporation is going to be a major investment opportunity in 3-6 months.
The dividend / yield of 1.07/5.11 is great
Even with the price of oil dropping like a dirty whore, Chevron should stabilize around $79-$80 per share.
The beta of 1.14 is a strong play ON THE REBOUND

Some wonder if CVX will reduce their dividend, anon.
You should wait to see if that comes true.
There is a lot of buzz among industry people now about what OP is mentioning. Everyone wants to know who will get beat down even more and then bounce back. Wait until mid year before making any decisions. There is gigantic pain yet to come when the April credit reviews begin and the "write downs" commence resulting in massive equity devaluation and "destruction" of capital for which the oil bidness is so well known

Worst Case scenario.
>OPEC Floods market
>China floods the market (also)
>Oil Per Barrel: $20
The next great bailout would be the oil and refinery companies.

>CVX will reduce their dividend
I don't see CVX or XOM reducing the dividend.
It would tank both stocks and I would be very upset along with many shareholders.
