It's comfy if you're not progressing fast and haven't seen the enemy yet, but then some light cavalry start burning your farms and you've only got three man-at-arms to drive them off with and then they finally leave after 10 minutes of attrition and all your villagers have been garrisoned in the town hall so you've made no progress to the next age.

Vabbi in Elona is nice too, Golden age of Islam style country with golden domes and lots of fountains and pools and decorated sandstone with copious amounts of coloured rugs and tapestries

My experience with Morytania is as follows: finished Priest in Peril without knowing it opened the area, was pleasantly surprised to find a town, discovered it was full of slime, nothingness, and sketchy werewolf people.
